Just saying what I saw. They might well be wrong, but it was on as I was walking past the tv, and that is what I heard. They said Harrison Ford, when asked, had referred to his character as 'Han yo-yo', and wouldn't be returning to the role. Might be old news taken out of context though.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I think it's defo old news taken out of context. Anything from the big three actors has been on every news aggregator site over the last few days. If they'd asked him post-Disney announcement, then you'd see a direct quote on all those sites, beginning first with TheForce.net.

EDIT: Searched it up, and that quote is from a Letterman interview in 2010 about COWBOYS and ALIENS.

Huh. Guess you are right flesh-bag.

Now why did I think that....

I'm gradually recovering from the shock and getting excited.

Unfortunately, I think whatever Disney comes up with will annoy the hardcore. The Thrawn trilogy is the natural next cycle, but it requires the original cast to not have aged 35 years. So maybe they could start with Thrawn but set farther forward and used to introduce the Solo kids. That would destroy a shitload of EU continuity, but I'd be OK with that. More properly they would do NJO to have the kids at the right age, but I pretty much detest NJO, so I'm willing to throw that whole storyline out.

Or hell, jump forward to Legacy or backward to KOTOR. So much gold they could mine either way.

Disney is going to get so paid starting in 2015...

They won't immediately go back to KOTOR era, since "Episode 7" in the press release implies a post-ROTJ tale. But it could happen down the line.

The more I think on this, the more I think we will see "adaptations" of certain ideas and themes from the EU books (most probably the NJO), and it will be an all new continuity that is an homage to the books EU...which I would be surprisingly okay with. It will be a fine line they will have to tread with fans...if they jettison the entire EU and create a whole new canon, I'd be livid...but if they (for example) decide to not kill off Chewie, or the like and changed only minor things, but still had the spirit and broad strokes of the EU books I'd be very cool.

I mean, as it is it would be HELL to try to match up a new set of movies with 20+ years of EU books, so as long as they pay it a bit of attention then I'm down.

Just don't change the names. The Solo kids need to be Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin. Luke's son has gotta be Ben. Mara Jade needs to be in it. There are certain things which should remain fixed, and I'm cool with other stuff fluctuating.

CHEWIE'S DEAD?!?!? NOOOOOO!!!!

Only kidding, I remember this sad moment like it was yesterday.
It would be nice to see vector prime played out on the big screen, though.
Dust that shaggy wookie outfit down for one more film, only to squash it with a falling moon.
I always thought it was a really cool way to go. Killed by a moon (like that echo and the bunnymen song).

Have to agree with QT too. Corran fucking Horn and his silver lightsaber!!

Indeed, if Corran Horn shows up I'll shit my pants.

IIRC isn't it Corran who slaughters a hallway full of enemies with his lightsaber?

It doesn't matter, Horn is badass regardless.

I think I'll be happy as a pig in shit if Corran Horn and Jaina Solo are in the new trilogy. As they have always been my faves.

No, that was Ganner something or other. Matthew Fucking Stover wrote that one (Traitor).

Unless it happened more than once.

Ah, yes I was mistaken about that. Horn is still a badass though. :)

No doubt QT! As depressing as it was I really enjoyed his latest performance in FOTJ with Valin and Jysella's "condition".

Absolutely! Horn as angry, grizzly father figure out to save his kids...that was just so awesome to watch!

The unifying force would make an excellent movie too.
A little deep for Disney maybe?
Either way, I'm on board with this, as a lot of other people have said thus far, as long as GL(though I love him to bits) has nothing more to do with the casting(Hayden Christianson makes Keanu Reeves look like bloody Al Pachino!) and the scripting, then it can only get better.

I know this is the wrong thread, but has anybody read Revan? The link to KOTOR and Bane make it a potential buy for me, and i like TOR timeline. Anyone?

They should get Stover to write, or at least co-write the script. I would pay to see that.

I'd also be surprisingly excited to see Mark Hamill returning as an old Luke in some sort of supporting role.

Awesome! It's not necessary but I'd look at the 1st 5 comics as they lead up to the bk so you can see everyone's origin point and see why the Jedi Kierra is in the mess she's in plus the 2 main Sith Lords. It doesn't take long to breeze through them and get to the bk. I think the plan is to do 5 comics then a bk, repeat until completion? QT may know for sure?

Yes, it was 5 issues, and then the book, and now they are in the next set of comics (I believe they are at around 9 or 10-ish)...but I don't know if there is another prose book int he works because Miller's next is KENOBI

The working theory (probably from TheForce.net boards) that I'm clinging to is the one involving Troy Denning's big, post-FotJ novel Crucible that's supposed to mark a major transition point and handing over of the reins from The Big Three to the next generation. With the news of Fischer, Hamill, and Ford possibly returning for Episode VII, Crucible could end up being the lead-in novel to the new movie trilogy.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Oh gods, let that be true.

Though that's a bit of a wait as CRUCIBLE isn't released till July. Arg!

I'm also really excited to learn what Paul S. Kemp's duology will be as they are being most secret about his ones...even Kemp replied on Twitter to me that he can't spill the beans yet. I wonder if they were awaiting the Disney announcement....which means they knew about the Lucasfilm sale as far back as Sue Rostroni's retirement.

Just my useless $0.02, but the chances of any script getting made that doesn't involve Chewbacca are low.

Agree. Chewie's NJO-era death will totally be one of the things that is retconned.
