Hey Scott, do you have a link to the JJ quotes? (Or what is the source, exactly?) I want to share them on Tor.com, but I'd be more credible if I knew where they were from.

Yeah, hang on. I grabbed the relevant bit from a post on TF.N....but I think the link is there. Let me grab it.

Here you go man.

And here is official site confirmation that Greg Grunberg's character in TFA, "Snap" Wexley the X-Wing pilot on Poe's squadron, is indeed Temmin Wexley from the Chuck Wendig AFTERMATH novel where he was a teenager.

Hey, Ben is a great name.

(It's my name)

I do have one question: Is fuel/power a consideration for ships/droids besides the Starkiller? Does everything have a limitless nuke reactor inside it?

As far as I know, droids need to recharge. Not sure if they plug in to do this or not. Like I assume that while an astromech is in a ship and connected, it's recharging like an iPod in a dock. But I'm pretty sure they recharge. I think the charge they have is VERY longlived though. Like a fully charged C3PO could probably go for weeks on one charge?

Ships in the Star Wars Universe are pretty universally powered by Ion Drives.

It's probably more like 5 under their control.

I'll bet the rest of the remainder are now local system defense fleet capital ships or mercenaries.

This is my guess as well. Since Coruscant was liberated after Jakku, I'd imagine that the New Republic absolutely re purposed the ones under their territory and control. It makes sense.

Also Just found this out: The Finalizer (Hux's Destroyer from TFA) is a brand new class of ISD associated with the First Order, and not the old Empire. It's called a Regulator Class Star Destroyer.

I meant just for Remnant. Hell that just seems low. Pelleaon had over 200.

Is there Galaxy maps like we had in NJO in new books? Is Remnant space bigger or smaller from EU?

The galaxy maps, so far, don't show factions territory, just planets.

You CAN, however know that if the First Order territory includes where Starkiller Base's origin point is, (where Ilum was during the Clone Wars), then they are FAR from the center of the Old Republic as you can see. Sidenote: Though we know that Dathomir (top right), and Moraband (Sith homeworld; topmost right) are more than likely under First Order control. No doubt that Snoke would have wanted those worlds in his dominion.

I mean... Yea it looks different from the normal Star Destroyers we saw in the original 3. The Shield Gennies are different, there is more to the superstructure, more 'steppes to the temple' as it were...

I assumed it was just supposed to be a natural continuation of ship tech...

Also, WTF is with Kylo's ship. Is it supposed to look like an anemic bird of prey or what? It looks like a Lambada Class Shuttle had a baby with a Harrier Jet. Extendable wings that don't really save space while landed? WTF is the point?
Monster Hunter World Iceborne: It's like hunting monsters, but on crack, but the monsters are also on crack.

Why aren't the ships droids too?

I realize this is a made up universe, but at some point, they're going to have to dip into the gigantic and malevolent artificial intelligence enemy well, right?

I was referencing it just last night to my friend.

Not much more to add here, other than, if you have to explain the map thing in the press, its because you did a crappy job explaining it in the movie.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

No. This is Kasdan and Abrams letting you figure it out what bits are important as an audience yourself. You get dropped into the story and their job as writer is to give you enough to infer the elements to get the story they are telling. Knowing that R2 got the map from the Imperial archives is an easter egg...NOT a needed bit of info. Should you need to know where R2 acquired the map in the grand scheme of things? No. The fact that they let that bit be ambiguous isn't doing a crappy job explaing the movie, it's having faith that your audience aren't a bunch of morons.
