I'm back and read up. Some good speculation going on. What would be the point of this though? Of course he would have to change his playing style if he was an FM - to copy whoever he jumped into! The way he's playing now has no impact whatsoever on that.

Possible...but take out the poetry and limericks and whatever, and Olar's posting style is actually very normal. There's nothing strange or bizarre about it that would make it 'contrasting.'

Why not just lay low and post like some of you guys? Easy to fit in that way, easy to not be lynched day one, I paint a target on my back just for being the highest poster. I mean there's not going to be much of a case on anyone else is there? The closest thing to finding an FM like play/questioner was when Galain asked how I come across my poetry. You have my posting times from day one to go with plenty of content so if I was going to jump i'd be screwed as I wouldn't have those to hide in.

I think the FMs are going to be all over the place on day 1 - higher and lower posters. To be honest, it's not really about getting them on day 1, if we do lynch an FM on day 1 it'll be a lucky shot more than anything. It's about noting changes in posting style after day 1, as others have said. So the more town - all of town - manages to talk now, the better. I know it's not easy for everyone, but ultimately it would really help. The fewer posts there are, the more an FM can comfortably play the way they want, should they jump into someone who hasn't posted much.

I'm using the old scum-finding tactic: Middle of the number of post lists. Although, that only ever becomes semi-accurate (if it ever becomes accurate at all ) later on, day 3 or so.

I feel that the way olar posts can be a good and bad thing... sure it will be hard to copy his style, but if he is a FM planning to jump, it's not something he has to keep up. If he is town, he won't be able to keep up that style, or at least be consistent with it while being a contributor.. which makes him "look" like a FM unless he can keep up his posting style. He's walking a razor wire.. but I don't think I can make a determination day one based on his style.

Also, to those saying posting in a consistent manner is good... well, that also makes you easier to copy. I think the best defense of being jumped into is to post at consistent times every day. I think that it is easier to copy someone's play style than it is their posting times especially since we have posters from many different time zones. Granted, on day one this doesn't matter so much... but down the line it will especially as we get deeper and deeper into the game.

Hey look, I posted 4 times and am now one of the top 4 posters... analyzing post count on the first half of day one is a little misleading. Thats why no one ever really goes after low posters day one. It takes time to establish that you are playing the game and set aside times for posting, almost like a routine ( at least thats how it is for me anyway.) Though I do agree with Galain, early on in a game like this, FM can do whatever they want as they will be jumping alts. Though this is complicated by the fact that FM sometimes need a day to prep who they are jumping into. If thats the case in this game, that would lead me to believe that Olar is a less likely FM candidate. The fact that 90% of his posts are spam, and he is calling out low posters is odd though. Should we all just spout poetry and try t get our post counts up just to avoid lynch? It doesn't work like that.
