Also, to those saying posting in a consistent manner is good... well, that also makes you easier to copy. I think the best defense of being jumped into is to post at consistent times every day. I think that it is easier to copy someone's play style than it is their posting times especially since we have posters from many different time zones. Granted, on day one this doesn't matter so much... but down the line it will especially as we get deeper and deeper into the game.

are you saying the best defense is juts to stick to the same time ervyday to post? which works if your in the uk and the fm is in australia, what happens if your both in the same time zone? your just making it easier for the FM!

Yeah, if a FM has your same timezone that can bone you but it can make it a living hell for one out of your times zone... I guess it's 6 of one, half-dozen of the other... consistency in any aspect can make you easier to copy...but it can also make you harder to copy as well as the FM will really have to be on the ball to pass himself off as you.

Even if the FM is in your timezone posting at different times each day makes it so That it wouldnt be suspicious if the posting times changed when the FM jumped. It would work to have the same posting time each day because then either an fm can jump into you but might still get caught for posting style change or cant jump into you at all due to your timezone.

I spy a spy...

It is getting dark as I drive down the lane. The streetlamps come to life with a soft flicker and I turn on the lights.
Snip

"Good evening, sir. I have the reports."
I reach into my briefcase and take out three big envelopes.
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the very best of our profession where set against each other?"
"Sir?"
He turns around.
"Wouldn't you like to see Sir Francis Walsingham plotting against Markus Wolf or Rameshwar Nath Kao?"
"With respect, Sir, they are all dead and Walsingham lived 400 years before Wolf or Kao."
He nods sadly.
"I want you to arrange it anyway."
My eyes widen.
"Get Mister Epistim to help you."

snip

Olar why are you focusing on the envelopes and not the names?

Quote

She just looks at me and I enter through the door at the side of the room.
The office is dark. Only the lights from the city illuminate it.
Before the window I can make out the silouette of my boss.
"Good evening, sir. I have the reports."
I reach into my briefcase and take out three big envelopes.
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the very best of our profession where set against each other?"
"Sir?"
He turns around.

He nods sadly.
"I want you to arrange it anyway."
My eyes widen.
"Get Mister Epistim to help you."
I just bow slightly. There is now arguing with him.
He turns back to the window. I am clearly dismissed.
I put the envelopes on the desk and head out.
As the door falls shut behind and I cover my eyes with my free hand. How...?
"That bad?"
I look up and just nod. "Yes. Is Epistim still in?"
She nodds and I give her a thankful smile and head to the elevtor again.
I enter and press the button. A few seconds later I'm on another story. The smell here always reminds me a bit of hospitals. It's the story were all our scientists have their labs.
I walk down the floor and enter one of the rooms without knocking.
Epistim is so concentrated he doesn't notice me. I watch him work a while before I anounce myself with a cough.
"Oh, it's you."
"Yeah, it's me. I had to deliver some papers to the boss."
He looks at me and sees how exhauted I am.

The envelopes seem to me to just be a way to get the person into the office. Notice he leaves them on the desk after the boss turns away.
So why are you de-emphasizing the names? I had heard of two of two of them but googled all 3. All 3 seem to be considered to be hall of fame nominees for their peculiar game.

Successfully pulling off FM jumps is brutally hard. It is very difficult to successfully pull of multiple jumps in a normal game. In a game having more then one it will be difficult but not impossible. The 3rd jump is going to be when things get tricky for the Pm's and probably where we are able to start to spot them.

So far lots and lots of spam, its an FM so I understand, but some of the poetry made my eyes bleed.

I wonder what the limit of players per alt is, and how would we figure out how many people are in one alt? a huge amount of crazy posting in several seperate stlyes by one alt?

Good question.

Quote

If two players target the same alt, they both jump into that alt and have to share it.

Could the two FM talk to each other then?

oh snap! Though what he says is true, the longer the game goes on, and the more people are narrowed down, the tougher its going to be for them. Also, there is the fact that they can have two people in an alt, if that happens... it might be easier to discern who the FM is.

One thing I overlooked but just noticed.. if one FM jumps, but another jumps into the alt he is leaving... then that alt doesn't die... we could have multiple jumps but no deaths. This could get crazy as some FM's will know others are in their former alts and be going after them pretty hard. Good thing for us to keep an eye on.

so if we see anyone with a huge boner for someone else then we could have found 2 fms, but can only lynch one

The three names given in my opinion are legends in their own right. It's like someone saying saying what would it be like if Washington, Churchill and Hitler were all in the same room playing cards who would win. I imagined the envelopes would be three modern "heroes" or "legends to be" being pitted against each other. I didn't see a reason to look up the names seem as though they are supposed to be dead. I don't see what you're getting at here, it'd be good for us to find out or at least speculate how many FM's we are working with so we can play accordingly.

I don't like the way Korvalian posted with a vote and disappeared. Karosis' vote was to do with me being annoying to him nothing about being the FM. Yet Korv just votes that way and goes. Hmm.

When Olar player jumps to somebody else tonight and there is still an Olar alt tomorrow, then Olar the player will know that the day 2 Olar alt is an FM? Won't that make it more difficult to find them? Assuming Olar the playr is smart, the last thing he would want to do is push a lynch for Olar the alt.

Hey look, I posted 4 times and am now one of the top 4 posters... analyzing post count on the first half of day one is a little misleading. Thats why no one ever really goes after low posters day one. It takes time to establish that you are playing the game and set aside times for posting, almost like a routine ( at least thats how it is for me anyway.) Though I do agree with Galain, early on in a game like this, FM can do whatever they want as they will be jumping alts. Though this is complicated by the fact that FM sometimes need a day to prep who they are jumping into. If thats the case in this game, that would lead me to believe that Olar is a less likely FM candidate. The fact that 90% of his posts are spam, and he is calling out low posters is odd though. Should we all just spout poetry and try t get our post counts up just to avoid lynch? It doesn't work like that.

My posts have included spam but have content within them. The ones I highlighted early were the ones that were in the middle of the pack. I don't think the FM's would be as careless as to be the lowest posters but I can see them in the middle of the pack. That is why I listed those 4. There were at least 4 other names that had fewer posts than those and I didn't include them in my thoughts.

Fair enough. I took the names to imply that those names would be in the game. We just both coming to the same conclusion based on two different pieces of the puzzle? At least 3 FMs?

I hope this is just hypothetical? Unless you truly believe I am an FM? Why would the FM want to jump into my body? think about it, he'd have to keep up a high post count AND be under suspicion from other players. It would be much easier to just jump into Telas as he only has the one post and you could use a multitude of reasons for increasing your content.

Did you forget you were playing this game by the way Sorrit? Or did you put enough posts in your other alt that you thought it would be okay to post in this one now? One alt posted this morning for a bit and now this one posting tonight? Your posts have a "feel" to them and they do feel familiar.

Personally I think there are 3 but Meanas/Sorrit thinks there could be 4 or 5.

Okay I don't know why I lumped you with Meanas with re checking the posts but he was the first alt that came to mind whilst talking to you. I had a conversation with him earlier on and it rang very similar to the way I'm talking to you. Be back in an hour

Day 2, we will be looking to find speech and posting patterns after the FMs jump. I think for day 1, we want to eliminate someone that we think is trying to build a false persona prior to their switching alts. Olar looks to fit this bill.
