Yeah, I'm a bit behind myself. Was rather unhappy with the product of the first few days so considering a restart and just pounding out 5000 for a few days if possible. 5000x 10 days means I win, though I doubt I'll be able to pull it off.

I am pending to start. Expecting about 10k per day for the next couple of days. >.> That should get me back on track, right?

Picture me gently chivvying you guys on from the sidelines. I'm looking with pride and fond expectation to those who are meeting their quotas, while turning a frown with a hint of 'could do better' towards those who are lagging behind. And yes, that is a single raised eyebrow (the right), which I like to call the Eyebrow of Subtle Encouragement. My smile turns more regretful, somewhat colder, and you feel a chill breeze raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Yes, I am breathing down your neck.

While, as for those who haven't yet started...I Am Disappoint.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Somehow I don't think I'll be making 50,000 words this time around.

I find it really hard to write without editing and a lot of forethought due to the fact that I think in pictures and not words. It means I have to translate my thoughts into words first which can be pretty difficult. Especially when I need to describe things.

So yeah, I don't think it's going to happen.

You can do it Loki. I didn't think I could either, but I succeeded last year.
Is your story going to be well translated? No.
Will it be clearly thought out? Definitely not.
Will it be perfect? Hell no.

More importantly; will it be on paper? Yes!
You will have overcome that obstacle. Once it's down, once it's out you can re-work it later. Visual scenes are hard to do since I'm never sure I've conveyed them right. Still, it needs to be out of your head even if it's like a spasmodic vomiting session. Because like vomit, if it's not out, it won't get any better. It doesn't seem to make sense while it's happening either.

Now then, to all of you. WRITE DAMN IT!

I'm not talking visual scenes, I'm referring to they way I think. EVERY thought I have is a picture. I'm one of those rare few who don't think in words but think in pictures. It makes translating thoughts very hard. All my ideas are pictures and it takes a lot of work to change them into words. I'm just not interested enough to commit all my free time to deciphering and writing.

Nearly at 5000 words. So far so good! I bounced some ideas off people and they seem to think I'm onto something. I just hope it sounds authentic-my story concerns things like the Middle East, soldiering and psychology, so I don't want it to come off as a load of uninformed garbage :) But the dialogue is coming really easy to me for a change.

Today my region had a "Double your daily average" day. I have not succeeded. Managed to break 15 000 though. Means I'm within my minimum. Unfortunately my weekends risk being non-productive which means I absolutely need to write nearly 4000 words tomorrow if possible.

just about at 14k. found a way to make the 'no proper names' business work in-world, pumped about that, and have just kicked the conflict engine into third gear for the first time (fourth and fifth come later).

I'm alive, but I have been playing catch up for the past four days seeing as how last weekend was not productive in the least. Still I have caught up to where I need to be. This weekend will be different with the Night of Writing Dangerously.

Is anyone attending that even in their respective areas?

I am working, unfortunately, so no NoWD for me. ^_^

Though honestly, it's more likely to be a "Silencer doesn't sleep this weekend AT ALL because he really needs to go from 0 to ~40,000 in two days" kind of thing, anyway. >.>

some of the greatest artistic creations have been produced in the throes of madness silencer. you can get there too, i know it! don't sell yourself short!

meanwhile, i'm closing on 30k and have realized the story needs another 50-60k to be complete. don't think i'll be editing for a few more months.

Count me among those slacking off.
Even though I wrote a few scenes while at work I'm still at 21k.

Off to vomit some more words...

Silencer, you must write. Devise a psychedelic scene and just do some stream of consciousness for a few pages. That should help?
