Role PMs

You are ___________, General under ______________ of the _____________ clan. You have been given permission to seek… alternative methods of eliminating the leaders of your enemies. How you use this power is up to you.
Ability: Once a day you may submit a list of no more than 3 ALT names to Path-Shaper (1 or 2 names is also acceptable). This is your “contract” list. If one of the killers for hire chooses a name on the list you have submitted, that player will be targeted for assassination. There is no guarantee that they will choose a name you have submitted.
You know that ___________ is a member of your clan because he is your paymaster and relays the assassination list.
For every member of your clan who dies, your contract list reduces by 1. It cannot reduce below 1. (So even if you are the last person left, you can still put out a single contract choice.
Important: Your list is submitted to the assassins at the beginning of night. Therefore you may not change any names once the Day has timed out or a lynch has occurred.

You are ________________, Captain under General _______________ (________________) of the ____________ clan. You know that if something were to happen to your leader, you would be promoted and put in charge.
Ability: Inherit responsibility and any NA abilities if leader dies.

You are _____________, Lieutenant under General ____________ (_________________) of the __________clan. You are the senior field medic in charge of keeping the army as healthy as possible.
Ability: You are a healer. Once a night, choose a target to heal.

You are _______________, Paymaster under General _____________ (__________________). Fiercely loyal, yet lacking the noblest of sensibilities, you are willing to bend the rules of honorable combat a bit.
Ability: Once a night, choose a target for recruitment. If that target is a clan member, your recruit attempt will fail. However, if the alt you target is one of the 3 assassins, they become your General’s personal assassin and will no longer accept contracts from other leaders.

You are the superior assassin known as Tengu. You are said to have goblin blood in your veins, and this blood gives you superior skills and magical powers.
During the Day, Please Choose one clan from whom you wish to receive a kill contract. You may change this anytime during the day, but once it is night you must abide by your last decision. Once it is night, you will receive a short list of names from the leader you chose. You may choose any one of those names to target with a kill. You may also abstain from killing if you wish.
You may only accept a contract once every two nights. If you accept a contract and kill on night one, you may not kill again until night three. You cannot “save up” kills by abstaining several nights in a row– after any contract acceptance, the next night you may not kill again.
Once you have performed a successful kill, the alt you have killed becomes your puppet and will remain alive on the player list on thread. You keep the puppet until you decide to throw that puppet away in favor of another. You may only keep one puppet at a time, and it must always be your most recent kill. (Once you kill again, that previous puppet will officially “die” on thread).
Example. Night one, you kill Sukul Ankadu. Sukul does not die on thread, but instead becomes your puppet. On night three, you decide to take a contract on Anomandaris and successfully kill them. Sukul officially dies on thread, and Anomandaris becomes your puppet.
You will be provided with that alt’s login information. Their Role PM will be deleted of course. This means, you will not discover the identity of the person you killed until you see the public CF on thread. You may post on thread as both your regular alt AND your puppet alt, you may vote with your puppet, but your puppets vote does not actually count. If your puppet is lynched or killed, you do not die. Your death only occurs if your personal alt dies.

You are the superior assassin Hannya. Having trained in the skills of disguise, you decided to take your art one step further and have cut off your own face. Any nose/cheeks/chin or ears you wear now are not your own, as you have mastered the use prosthetics, illusionary spells, powders and paints. You may now take on the identity of anyone you kill.
During the Day, Please Choose one clan from whom you wish to receive a kill contract. You may change this anytime during the day, but once it is night you must abide by your last decision. Once it is night, you will receive a short list of names from the leader you chose. You may choose any of those names to target with a kill. You may also abstain from killing if you wish. . You may only accept a contract once every two nights. If you accept a contract and kill on night one, you may not kill again until night three. You cannot “save up” kills by abstaining several nights in a row– after any contract acceptance, the next night you may not kill again.
You are a faceless man. When you successfully kill someone, you change places with them. However, your previous ALT does not die. Instead, your old alt remains your puppet to use. You may post using both alts and you may vote, but your puppets vote does not actually count. Once you perform another kill, your original alt will officially die on thread, you will jump to your new “body” and the body you were just occupying will become your new puppet.
Example: Your original alt is _________. Night 1 You successfully kill Sukul Ankadu. You become Sukul Ankadu, gaining access to their alt (their role pm will have been deleted). Your original alt, __________, is now your puppet to control.
Night 3, you successfully kill Anomandaris. You now become Anomandaris, gaining access to their alt. Sukul Ankadu becomes your new puppet, and your original alt ____________ officially dies on thread. If your puppet is lynched or killed, you do not die. Your death only occurs if the alt you currently inhabit dies.

You are the superior assassin known as Kage-za. You have mastered not only the art of killing, but the art of blending in and losing yourself in a crowd.
When you successfully kill a target, you may keep that alt as a shadow (simulacrum) of yourself. Before the beginning of the next day, please choose which alt you wish to be the “real” you.
Example: You are _____________. On night 1 you successfully kill Sukul Ankadu. You now control both alts and will be given Sukul’s login information (Role PM will have been deleted). Before Day 2 begins, choose which alt you will inhabit personally. The alt you do NOT choose will be your shadow puppet to use as well. Both your real alt and your shadow alt may vote, but your puppets vote will not actually count. On night 3, repeat the procedure if you perform a successful kill. You may only keep 1 shadow simulacrum at a time, so after your second kill when you choose your “real” self and your “shadow”, the alt you do not choose will officially die on thread. If your puppet is lynched or killed, you do not die. Your death only occurs if the alt you chose to currently inhabit dies.

You are Kunitomo an agent sent by the reigning Ashikaga shogun. Or is it the deposed Ashikaga shogun? Or perhaps the soon-to-be deposed Ashikaga Shogun? It depends on who you ask.
You are independent of the factions and assassins, and as such, have your own victory conditions. It is your desire to keep the Ashikaga in power, and you are out West to try and convince clans to support your master.
Night action - Every night, submit one name of a player (alt) who you wish to turn into an Ashikaga Sympathizer. You will be informed of "success" "partial success" or "failure". Only Captains and Generals can be swayed, but a General may ONLY be swayed if you have first recruited his Captain.
If you succeed in winning a General to your cause, you will be counted as a winner in this game (and can brag about how awesome you are to win all by yourself). So your mission essentially is to turn a captain into a sympathizer - find his general, and do the same with him.
If at any point your try to recruit an assassin, you will fail. However, you will gain one bulletproof against any kill attempts made by that assassin.
I'm going to level with you - this is going to be a relatively difficult thing to pull off. If you do it, it will reap serious rewards for the Ashikaga in the coming games AND you will be granted a fun role in the next game, rather than given one at random like everyone else.

General notes on the game:

Path-shaper - preciousgems
SH - moardakka

Puppets act as a counter other team's majority as long as they are still in play. (The world still believes they are real, not puppets.) However, they do NOT count towards a team's majority and subsequent victory conditions.

If an assassin kills another assassin, they become a puppet just like anyone else. In this case, the puppet does not need to be discarded to count towards an assassins VC.

If an assassin kills another assassin's puppet, the puppet dies during that phase. Meaning, the assassin whose puppet was attacked loses their puppet, and the assassin who carried out the attack fails to gain a new puppet.

Assassins who only work for a single master do not count towards majority.

Actions:

Day/Night 1

Hosokawa
Tellan General Fener, Emurlahn, D'riss (Two assassins chose Hosokawa, so two of these are soon to be puppets, barring a Korv taking out Korbas)
Karosis Captain
Olar Ethil Lieutenant Heal Tellan until further notice
Spite Paymaster Recruit Osseric

Ouchi
Meanas General Olar Ethil Osseric Tellan Two opposing healers and no one on his team, nice choices. Too bad none of the assassins like him...
Galain Captain
Sorrit Lieutenant Heal Meanas
Emurlahn Paymaster Recruit Eloth (good guess - found an independent, just not the right kind)

Amako
Liosan General Korbas, Korvalain, Galain (damn, two assassins on that list - Korv chose Amako so he could wack Korbas tonight potentially.)
Fener Captain
Osseric Lieutenant Heal Liosan
D'riss Paymaster Recruit Eloth, if lynched Korvalain Nice gut.

Korvalain Assassin Prov choice, Amako clan

Korbas Assassin Prov choice, Hosokawa clan

Mockra Assassin Prov choice, Hosokawa clan

Eloth Ashikaga Agent Sway Korbas

I looked up chapter 2 , seems Leaders had a BP that game. I think its safe to assume that they have 1 here too .
but right now I have no idea who is who and healing my leader seems the best idea.

Not sure why he'd assume a BP. In the last game, the healer didn't know their leader. My intention was to make sure the healer had to be eliminated before it was possible to assassinate a leader. Adding a BP would make them a little too impervious.

By giving clear VCs on thread, and publicly announcing the clan makeups, my intent was a game design meant to reward people who take the time to really figure out who is aligned with who. As the game goes on, if there are several assassins alive, they would be smart to chose hit-lists from the underdog clan masters because the game is over once a single clan emerges. However, the underdogs really need to have figured out who is on their team to make it work. The assassins, of course, need to try and find the name on the list that doesn't seem to fit a specific clan.

Basically, my goal was a game where signaling and paying attention to votes is even more useful than usual. The only wrinkle is the Ashikaga agent...which if Azathmaster (Eloth) is lynched, will put the game off to a potentially confusing start.

Lots of lower posters in this game, in general. Should make it interesting I think, as it truncates the ability to signal and such without it being more blatant.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

This is a really awesome ability, I like it a lot! It brings an element of chance to the choices.

At this stage I have pretty much no idea who is in my team, other than Spite. However, I'm more likely to pick anyone other than my team at this stage, so it's worth throwing some names out to see what happens. I'm getting the feeling that Eloth could be a leader, so I've basically cherry picked people I think could be following :p

So, my contract list:
- Fener
- Emurlahn
- D'riss

Because they have either avoided the discussion about Eloth altogether or made noises about voting but not committed yet, or tried to distract the thread.

Sorrit's downplaying of the threat of the assasins has me thinking he is an assasin.

Also, you seem to have missed D'riss' vote on Eloth, post number 126 :p

Now I wait for the assassins to choose their targets.

Korv becomes the Amako personal assassin (the only game impact being he no longer gets to choose which clan he accepts contracts from).

So right now, Korv becomes the Amako's personal assassin.

Galain is Korv's puppet.
Korbas becomes Emurlahn, keeps Korbas as puppet.
Mockra becomes D'riss, keeps Mockra as puppet.

I only wish there was a better solution for SH - I hate having to tell Tattersail/Khell/Sixty they can't go into SH until their puppets die.

And I'll state my reason so that you don't think I'm killing just to be killing. D'riss asks questions. But no info has been forthcoming. Which means I can probably spoof the alt without getting caught.

I know with Eloth getting lynched first night it's a moot point but if he wasn't lynched he targeted an killer the first night. Would he have lost anyway because of a bad find? How would that have played out on thread if he lost and not died? Or would he have been killed as a result of the bad find?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

With Emurlahn and D'riss as puppets, that raises the potential that their leaders will figure out something is going on since the leaders know their paymasters.

Hehehe, I know, I know, I'm not terribly worried about it. I got lucky with no one realizing that, so that luck could continue.

This whole puppet alt thing is tough. I keep having to double-check Galain's earlier posts to make sure I don't contradict him, and make my posts just different enough, or shift my focus just enough to make sure no one can tie Korv to Galain. It's a dimension of Mafia I haven't experienced before!

I secretly hope I never get slapped with a faceless man type role, because my timezone would make it nearly impossible.
