If you can stomach his . . . style, here's the first thirty minutes by Angry Joe. There're likely spoilers, though he tries to skip major stuff.

I shall be partaking of this. Large role playing games have ever been something I enjoy, and this one looks positively delectable.

The fact that EA is allowing review to go up a week before release shows that they have a lot of confidence in the game.
No kidding. And almost all of them (except IGN) are positive about the story as well, which I expected to be underwhelming. I'm gonna play it, as soon as I'm ready to mess up my life with it.

I'm ready for this. I played the first 2, so I feel compelled to finish this up regardless of how crappy it may or may not be. I've heard more good things than bad though, so here's hoping.

Just playing through 2 a second time so that I can import this timeline to Inquisition. I personally feel that 2 was unfairly panned - it's a good game.

I'm gonna have to start as a generic never played the previous ones character since my previous saves were all lost when I built my new PC and for some reason forgot to transfer those save files. I hope they give you several good "decision" options so I can at least pretend I made the same choices.

Guys you can use the Keep to create the perfect world state - actually you kinda have to since you don't transfer the save files like before. You upload them to the Keep and then upload that into DA:I (and you can also modify any decisions you want). Here's a link to it: https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/
I also lost my save files so I just created the world state I wanted from there.

I would disagree, but considering how much I've written on that topic in the past I'll keep it down.

I think the main problem with part 2 is that it is so much worse than part 1. So on top of the objective steps back in concept and playability, it receives an additional subjective backlash from gamers that were hoping for improvement on part 1. I personally agree that part 2 was quite enjoyable in its own right and easily holding its ground with similar offerings, but if the benchmark is Origins, it seriously fails to deliver in its pretense as family heir.

In the words of white girls everhywhere- 'I just can't even'
The Game was:
Rushed to production-Re-used art, maps and assets in general (This one is big! it can't be ignored. They abused our customer loyalty)
Story was lacking
Interaction with companions was lacking - The best you could do was read about them in text
The story was meant to be grey but was black and white. No matter how much you help the mages they end up being the danger everyone wars about! Made me feel like an ass
I played the demo more than the game! Seriously the demo was epic.
Gameplay was average at best.
Everything but the first opinion might be subjective but the first point is undeniably true and wholly unacceptable.

This is what annoyed me most about the stories of both Dragon Age games actually. The mages always without fail succumb to blood magic, and so you would always end up fighting them. I get that it was meant to be shades of grey, but that doesn't work when every time you're putting down the mage you just helped. It was an illusion of choice, and if you chose to side with the mages the game made you feel like an asshole for choosing 'wrongly'. I hope DA:I steers away from that deceptive dichotomy this time.

Yea I had a problem with it. I mean it makes sense in the second one because the psycho lady is assuming they are all already blood mages and killing/gentling them, but even the ones who escaped and who you could help turn out to be blood mages too.
You would think there should be factions in the mages where you can push them towards blood magic or push them away from it or something, but again this is all related to how rushed the second one was. That said I thought hte combat in the second was a step forward for the series. Possibly too far forward, but w/e.

Went onto Keep last night. Worked OK. Didn't recognise most of my detected characters' choices, though.

So if I were to play DA:2 (never really got round to it and I might be getting a PS4 for Christmas so I don't want to start anything yet) I might as well choose the Templars right?

Sure if you want to side with people who are gentling these mages because they MIGHT be driven to blood magic, thereby driving many of them to blood magic to avoid being gentled.
Then sure.

Oddly enough, RockPaperShotgun gave Inquisition a rather positive review. The main motif: "nothing ground-breaking, but well-polished, extensive and detailed"
Hmm. Now I'm thinking about grabbing DA2 at the inevitable Origin Xmass sale. And playing a Mage, to point out how ridiculous the plot is.
Does DA2 require always online for SP? Because that'd be a deal-breaker.

Ho-ly shitburgers. Just confirmed my worldstate (managed to cheek the game into keeping Loghain alive and having Alastair marry Anora!) and watched my resulting Varric narration.
The storyline of 2 makes 110% sense when viewed as a giant setup for DAI. And I'm wettin' myself in anticipation. It's like Crokus lusting after Apsalar, only waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy creepier. Because it's a game.
