Based on the nose I'd say that Justin guy from The Leftovers. Eh?

Blek my sagging inspiration has not cooperated with my worksore shoulders at all. :) But here's some tosh to enliven the thread. Thomas Covenant stuff as usual, and I've sunk deep enough into some blasphemous Lovecraftian abysses to draw characters from grimdark gritfantasy as cartoons. But we've seen Malazan legos, so hey. :-D
Some nudity.

Haha, I'm gonna to have to hi-jack this thread because this kind of doesn't fit into the 10 mins thread, but at the same time it's too late at night for me to think straight and also I had one of my rare bouts of 'Let's dig out my tablet and draw shit' today and also I read Dust by Elizabeth Bear last week and HAD to draw some fanart based on that.. so here goes.. I don't really care about what stuff, except if anyone's got suggestions on how to stop hating my tablet, they'd be welcome. Considering I dig the thing out about every few months for a day I am somewhat proud. So deal with it

Beware, boobs. And also a basilisk masquerading as a parrot.

That face is a little older than I picture him. He's just outta Seven Cities high school IIRC. Something like this guy maybe (though taller than gymnast height obv):

Yah that's definitely close. Maybe a little more noticeable muscle? I dunno how armor works so disregard that if necessary.

The first one is still usable Malazan art though IMO, cuz it's a great drawing of somebody. Maybe one of the Ashok Regiment or Red Blades? Actually it kinda reminds me of Coll from Darujhistan....big man, middle age, sad eyes.

I like it but I'm gonna be a bit critical here because I think its worth exploring.

Corabb is not the type of guy you'd imagine with a "sly grin". this version you have looks a bit sly? I think its not the face I'd pick to convey what Corabbs about.

Personally I'd think an expression that'd get his character across would be the finishing touch. Surprise? pleased surprise maybe?

That face you make when you win at chess by accident. Thats the face I think Corabb makes when he's not dishing out glib wisdoms. so if you're still working on this maybe you want to take it that bit extra and try out a few alternate expressions. if anything just to exercise options.

My biggest worry is that they read as a cohesive unit in some of these.

The Crimson Gaurds Civil war was all about the factions. There was Shimmer, there was cowl and Skinner, then there was the Prince.

for that reason I like bottom left most.

Unlike the Avengers Civil war of the marvel universe there was a clear "badguy" in RotCG, atleast as far as the CG factions were concerned.

For that reason maybe have the more menacing characters Bigger still?

Also maybe try shift "The Crimson Gaurd" to the Top of the page with the red field and Leave Civil War at the bottom fancy-like with no red field behind...

prepare for some god awful attempts as us non artists limber up the drawing arms

You read my mind. The intro made me want to try, but downstream sketches led to heart palpitations. Still... I saw a sign on a guitar store the other day: Practice makes music.
Hmmmm...

I like reading the feedback along with labeled illustrations. Thanks for the teaching and the patience. It's giving me a new level of appreciation, whether I go further or not. As Greyfrog might say: Much appreciation. Hopping from side to side

Wrong! They are too different to compare. His is an action scene while yours is a moment of stillness on the edge of action. Both are awesome!

OK, I didn't really want to post this one before it was finished, but I'm stuck and need a bit of help.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR MEMORIES OF ICE!!!!
Spoiler

I've been moving the figures around, that's why some shadows are out of place.
I feel it's a bit boring, or lacks... something, I dunno, just sick of looking at it
So, thoughts? critiques?

I felt a bit sick looking at it for totally different reasons. Arghhh... when I saw the double spoiler warning, I was kind of prepared for what was going to be behind it, but still, that scene still shocks, never mind how many re-reads.

I would say that maybe WJ's sword should still be up ever so slightly if this is meant to be the very moment he got struck. If it is that bit later, than Kallor's stance/attitude should be slightly different. I imagine that in a fight, the sword would always be instantly withdrawn, even if you think you've fatally wounded the opponent, ready for the next move, just in case. So if WJ is down, Kallor should be in the action of withdrawing the sword. Hope that makes sense. That's just a gut feeling.

The image is pretty haunting already, capturing much of that moment. Don't give up on it, CN - it's going in the right direction.
