So now that you are back in the creative flow - are you going to do Malazan images?????!!!!
Actually, for a moment I thought this image was one - there is a character somewhere, a Semk, I think... who has his lips sewn together.
If you are looking for topics - got plenty of Rake, Karsa, Apsalar and one or two others - but there are hundreds of characters who have no depiction at all on the Wiki

I would love to do more Malazan stuff! I've got another non-malazan piece I'd like to finish first, but after that I'm open for suggestions. I still need to do Sheltata Lore for my Edur goddesses-triptych, and there are some older paintings I'd like to redo because they're absolutely awful

"Where lies the strangling fruit that came from the hand of the sinner I shall bring forth the seeds of the dead to share with the worms that gather in the darkness and surround the world with the power of their lives while from the dimlit halls of other places forms that never were and never could be writhe for the impatience of the few who never saw what could have been. In the black water with the sun shining at midnight, those fruit shall come ripe and in the darkness of that which is golden shall split open to reveal the revelation of the fatal softness in the earth. The shadows of the abyss are like the petals of a monstrous flower that shall blossom within the skull and expand the mind beyond what any man can bear, but whether it decays under the earth or above on green fields, or out to sea or in the very air, all shall come to revelation, and to revel, in the knowledge of the strangling fruitand the hand of the sinner shall rejoice, for there is no sin in shadow or in light that the seeds of the dead cannot forgive. And there shall be in the planting in the shadows a grace and a mercy from which shall blossom dark flowers, and their teeth shall devour and sustain and herald the passing of an age. That which dies shall still know life in death for all that decays is not forgotten and reanimated it shall walk the world in the bliss of not-knowing. And then there shall be a fire that knows the naming of you, and in the presence of the strangling fruit, its dark flame shall acquire every part of you that remains."

A painting inspired by Jeff Vandermeer's Annihilation. Can't fucking wait for the movie! I'm sorry about the watermark and crappy quality, my Photoshop-license expired, and I can't afford to renew it, so I'm testing out som new and cheaper software. This is obviously made in ArtRage. Next up will be Autodesk Sketchbook. What do you guys use/recommend?
Any suggestions for what I should paint next?

Thanks for the the feedback, but it may not matter now. I dropped my drive and I haven't backed it up for about 6 months. Maybe a good thing.
Did you ever get your stuff back, CN? I was looking back at this thread and thought that the Kallor/Whiskeyjack image really, really needs to see the light of day.
Looking at it again, I think that the right hand part of the image is pretty perfect - if you could change the left to reflect the pathos of the right, it would be a totally amazing image.
I picture Kallor at that point in an almost falling backwards, stepping back motion, with a shocked kind of expression on his face - the kind people have when they have just accidently dropped something. I see his sword hand off to one side with the sword kind of backwards as if he is trying to disassociate it and himself from what is in front of him. Maybe even a slight twist to the body as if he is about to take off/run away. Trying to capture that it wasn't a fight he had sought and that sometimes, it is as if nastiness finds him even though he wasn't looking for it.
Anyway - the short of it is that I think the image already had so much fantastic stuff going on that you really, really should resurrect this one!!!!

just got a new tablet.
oh so pretty an responsive.
only draw back is it's quite bulky and so wouldn't be comfortable taking it as hand luggage on my short haul flights for work. on the other hand I've only 3 weeks work left over in england so I could stand having it at weekends only versus the hassle of carting it about through stansted airport every week.
but I could take the frame off to ease the bulk.
Blerg I don't know.
either way I might make a bash at my kulp picture from years ago to break it in.

a slightly strange calibration issue with it though, its hella accurate on the outside but develops a few mil drift towards the center. usually these things tail off at the outer edges...
I wonder if I can set up handwriting rec again as well

Why not???? We have not got an image of Kulp on the Wiki as yet - that would be a great addition to the Calendar! And as we are sorted for the first couple of weeks, you still have some time left to do it in
Send me a PM if you fancy taking part and I send you the top-secret submission link
