True.

Although teenagers have a higher metabolism , but if calories don't enter your body you can't become fat and if you run around a lot you use all that energy ...

John Goodman is fat, and he's smarter than whoever made that site.

I think the site owner means: you can't lose wight cause you're ...

so it doesn't really count if you don't wanna lose weight.

Well I don't think the question is nutrition. I was wondering what this board (one of the few places on the internet I respect) thought of the presentation. Is this even helpful, or is it just smug fit people who read it and laugh?

I'm not fat because I'm stupid.

I'm fat because I'm incredibly lazy. :D

Oh, the latter. It's a stupid way to think about life, fitness, health, etc. Helping people isn't the goal there, even if you narrow the audience down to fat people who don't want to be fat (which isn't remotely every fat person).

I don't agree with the stupid part but rest of what he is saying is true.
Some people may not want to lose weight (my uncle for example), some people may not care and some people may want and care but only whine about it .(stupid people are these)

Not sure how well a completely negative approach would work. Some of the stuff on that site kinda comes off as "stop eating," which isn't good, either.

Whining is annoying no matter who's doing it or for whatever reason....and that includes whining about fat people and masking it with sarcasm and "bluntness."

He's a lot less fat than he was in Roseanne days though, so he's clearly given SOME thought to the issue.

Yah, but he's a method actor, it's just sheer coincidence that he happens to take roles of fat men of varying sizes, 30 years in a row.

I think it would depend on the recipient. Concluding that the sole cause for obesity is stupidity is, of course, a gross simplification, and claiming that some people didn't 'get lucky' is simply erroneous. That said, some people are alarmingly uneducated when it comes to nutrition and, yes, some are in denial and/or full of excuses. I imagine the presentation might motivate some individuals, the way some prefer working out with a PT yelling in their ear, but the vast majority will likely be offended.

Eat healthy, move on.

It actually doesn't matter if you're fat, so long as it's not impacting your health otherwise. If you can be fat, avoid Type II Diabetes, and have decent cholesterol and blood pressure, GREAT! But that probably means you're eating healthy, and probably not that fat.

It doesn't matter to whom if you're fat?

Maybe this guy who set up the website means well, but I find it not acceptable. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable to take advise from somebody who tells me I am stupid. Besides the fact that my first reaction would be "Go f**** yourself."

Edit. Additionally, a lot of people with weight problems also have confidence problems, hence being told "You're fat because you're stupid" will probably lead to a reinforcement of their habit of comfort eating rather than encourage them to break out of their eating pattern.

Also, being overweight, I don't mean pathologically obese, does not necessarily lead to diabetes and other associated diseases. Apparently, people with more weight tend to be of better health and more resistant to disease, recover better after surgery and seem to be emotionally more stable too.
Further, fat is an important tissue for hormone regulation, in particular subcutaneous fat which is generally found on the limbs or around the bum. The fat that is "bad" is the visceral fat around the inner organs and on the belly.
There are people who have a healthy diet and exercise, but they are just not slim but rather sturdy or well-built, but they are still much healthier than all the skinny types who don't exercise and eat bad food "because they can" without gaining any weight. Just because the well built people don't have the look that is currently fashionable or considered to be the healthy look doesn't mean anything in respect of their actual health.
