I ordered the GHOST STORY paperback just so I could read the sample chapters. There's no bookstore here that sells the Dresden Files books, so I didn't have a choice and I'm too much of an addict to resist the temptation  And I have to say, that 16 or so pages were SO worth it! Really, extremely awesome! No kidding.

Went into my local Waterstones, their Ghost Story paperbacks didn't have the Cold Days stuff.

Soon... (ish)
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Had 30min to kill waiting for a meeting so i spent it in a bookstore re-re-reading the promo and it's even BETTER than i thought. The amount of pure Dresden goodness that Butcher packs into those 14 pages (and that's all it is) is rediculous.

Y'know what.... screw all of you 'i have to read it pure' people, i reread it AGAIN and it was EVEN BETTER than the first time, SO THERE!!!!!!

I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

It's called "when I have my mind launched into the stratosphere by the awesomness that is Dresden, my grey matter will go THAT much further than yours due to the newness and freshness of what I am reading."

He would be in the cold side, if he isn't independent. But I have my doubts.

I love the idea that the Erlking is the Summer King and a dick, and Father Christmas is the Winter King and pretty awesome.

Couldn't one of you guys go and stand in a bookstore with a smartphone and type the two chapters up for those of us who don't get time to go into town all that often? Shouldn't take too long... right??

It's not even two chapters actually. It's one... more of a prologue really.

Totally unrelated, but last night I dreamed that Pat Rothfuss wrote a twelfth John Carter book.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch
