Downloaded it this AM while making coffee (finished Dirty Streets of Heaven last night). Already up to chapter 7.
“The others followed, and found themselves in a small, stuffy basement, which would have been damp, smelly, close, and dark, were it not, in fact, well-lit, which prevented it from being dark.”

I imagine everyone on this thread like Gollum, now. "I havess it, the precioussss!"
I didn't waste time saying anything out loud. Just grabbed the package outside my door, opened it and found a comfortable place to sit.
It was my birthday too, so that was awesome.
Happy Birthday amp.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

I want to buy it from my favourite FLBS in the CBD. Unfortunately, I have no idea when I'm going to get there, or when Cold Days will make it here to the Outermost 'Burbs.
Oh well, I'll enjoy it if and when I get it. Like sexytimes these days ...

Ok, so how do you pronounce 'Sidhe'?
I always thought 'dh' was a soft 'th', but that would be sith, which is used elsewhere.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I believe it's properly pronounced 'shee' (like 'she' but harder 'e'), but since that never makes sense to me when spoken out loud, in my head it's always 'See-dee'.

I always pronounced it Sid-hay

It is pronounced 'Shee-(y')' -- a longer 'ee' than 'she', with a trailing neutral vowel sound, like at the end of 'they'. It's from Gaelic, where the rule is to ignore as many consonants as possible.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

I guess I pronounce it like 'Side' but with a... I don't know, very soft H sound before the D. Why before the D? Because that is where it feels like it goes.
Which I guess would make it Sy-hd. The H is just a partial breath I guess? I SPEAK ENGLISH THAT DOESN'T USE SOUNDS LIKE THAT, OK?

Can I just say: this is not like fantasy names, where you can come up with your own pronunciation and people will say, 'Huh, I guess I can see where you got that from.' This is a standard word with a standard pronunciation, and those of you who don't pronounce it 'shee' are getting it wrong.
Sorry, rant over.
