It has in certain games. However, doing that goes against the idea of random criminals lumped into a reality show (as is the premises of the mafia game, mixed with the Arkham City computer game). I mean, Talia al'Ghul is hardly raw dumb muscle, wouldn't you say?

Surely you could skip the "second tier" villains like that and still come up with 17 minor villains like Bane and Killer Croc?

Bane isn't a second tier villain. He is the main villain from the upcoming batman movie. He broke Batmans back in the comics and forced Bruce Wayne into retirement.

Isn't that ALL he does though? Like he's never been heard of before and doesn't show up again much after?

Unlike, say, Two-Face who is in every 5th comic, every TV show and every movie re-launch?

2) Solomon Grundy is big enough in the Bat-universe to be a roled player.

I don't/didn't know that. I've only seen the cartoon, haven't read any of the comics (or played the games much). The only big ones I know would be Joker, Ivy, Riddler, Mr Freeze and Two-Face. I didn't even think The Penguin was very big before this game.

Which set of cartoons? There are at least 3 different versions that I know of.

The early 90s ones.

I think that's a ridiculous position to take - "we could get names when we die". 1) What would be the point of that? 2) Solomon Grundy is big enough in the Bat-universe to be a roled player.

I understand.

In death, a member of Arkham City has a name.

His name was Solomon Grundy.

But to bring the game back on track: Atrahal has been a bit odd lately. One sentence blatant dismissals and accusations without much reasoning put into his posts. Like he wants to stoke up a fire but without putting much effort into it or profile himself. Not enough to vote but a worrying trend if it is going to continue.

Worth keeping an eye on, sure, but IMO Meanas is the only one with tangible indications of him being likely scum, unless you go back to the case of D'riss (?) saying "my" instead of "our" (a tangible case, just not very good ;) )

Is it considered meta to look at details from the video games and make guesses based on that? Like, Solomon Grundy, in the game, was most closely allied to Penguin. Does that mean that if Penguin recruited Solomon Grundy it would have unlocked some interesting abilities for the Solomon Grundy character, perhaps?

I agree with this, and his most damning post is:

You could at least attempt a defence though. The utter lack of one, and the attempt at misdirection, lead me to conclude you're becoming resigned to being the first casualty. Whether that's just or not: I don't know. But I, for one, am becoming tired of operating with so little info. As allegiances are going to change after Day 1, I'm of a mind to hurry proceedings toward that.

Are you guys fucking serious? We have like an hour before deadline and you're discussing the relative importance of Batman villains. Fuck's sake.

For what it's worth, my vote preference is:

Ampelas - because he clearly DOES have a name and ergo, a role. So he could well be a CL or Batman.

Anomandaris - because he expressed the possibility of Osseric being the Joker and a willingness to vote for him for that reason, and then when pushed, contradicted this and pretended he always thought it likely that Osseric was just a random name pulled out by the Joker. Thus, he looks like he wanted to know what Osseric would turn out to be - which we know from Penguin's message is something that that CL at least (and probably all of them and Batman) would like to know too.

Atrahal - because of his utter dismissiveness of Eloth's defence, even going so far as to say that Eloth didn't defend himself at all, which is patently not true, before throwing a vote on him.

D'riss - because of the 'my interests' thing, could be trying too hard to seem like a townie.

Not really, it's just considered worthless.

Apparently, the issue with Bane is that he doesn't work very well together with other Batman antagonists for story telling reasons. The Joker, Harvey Dent, The Riddler, The Penguin, they're a bit gaga and are rather indirect in their schemes, making them natural partners and double crossers of one another. Bane's much more straight forward. They are schemers, he's into confrontations, which means that in a Bane story, you'd need a secondary character to play him and Batman out against each other - a bit like some of the more pro-active Bond Girls (Octopussy, Isabelle Ajani in Die Another Day) do. It is not for nothing that in the upcoming movie, there's also a Catwoman foil (half antagonist, half protagonist, all love interest) included.

Arguing that my comment on the possibility of RI names in CFs means that I "clearly DO" have one, is like saying that since you commented on the possibility of independent roles existing means that "clearly YOU ARE" one... which if true means we should lynch you but in reality is just absurd reasoning.

And now I'm done arguing this silly line of logic. Time to get back on track for a real lynch.

Worthless maybe, but I think it still adds to how the game is played. If there are some named characters among the townies, they could have roles that help town, but they could also have special abilities that only get unlocked when they get recruited by the right leader. *shrugs* I just thought it might be an interesting angle, to keep an eye out on pairings if we get any information on them, and see if there are some new abilities popping up as recruiting happens.

If I am not mistaken, the lynch timer just expired, so it's going to be a no-lynch day.

How much time is left?

We've got 7 players on... I think it's enough for a Meanas lynch and that that is worth pursuing. Not only does his behaviour look scummy (ignoring everyone pointing out that his behaviour is not only non-town, but also illegal) but the lack of modkill says to me that he is probably an important role... I'm optimistic that he's batman but I'd settle for a cult leader, too ;)

I honestly have no fucking clue who to vote.
Meanas, well... in a quiet moment after Ment posted the RI PM, I found the post Emurlahn referred to (page 4 at 40 posts a page). He made several slip ups and he was all over the place, his behavior is scummy, but his alignment isn't, most likely. Or he is a very lucky bastard.
Anomandaris I would be fairly happy with because he's contradicting himself.
Atrahal: not today. I don't like his recent behavior much compared to his earlier, more eloquent contributions, but not enough to lynch for.
D'riss: it's a really minor thing. Wouldn't have caught my eye but at the least it is a case.

Actually, I think Ment wouldn't hesitate killing Batman and letting the role jump on.

That's weird... Wonder why we're an hour off from each other? Think it has something to do with Daylight savings or something?
