Well for all that have made considerable effort over the years (and expense for some!) I can only thank you for the good times we've had hosting it. There have been some truly epic times.
This year may be a smaller gathering but we do have something lined up to make it a bit more special (and no I am not talking about our favourite author here).
I've had to cancel the chicken order already though and thank Illy for letting us know in advance, so many chooks will live to cluck another day.

Anyways. I've bought my tickets, but time restraints at work gives me a little less time than I would have liked. I'll be landing at Heathrow just past 7 pm on the thursday, and will leave from the same around 6 pm on sunday.

A girl at work is taking 2 months maternity leave from the 10th and I have to cover every damn Saturday for the duration. Inconsiderate bitch!
Have fun though, guys.

Can anyone here help me with figuring out british public transport? I spent half the day trying to to at least roughly plan out my trip (need it for the visa), but I'm not much more insightful than I was when I started. Actually, I am confused. Help?
Edit: Actually, I think I got it. Panicking does help.

Where do you enter the UK? If you get to London then easiest is probably by train to Cambridge from Kings Cross station- likely to be others travelling and then from Cambridge by taxi unless you negotiate a lift in advance. If lots arrive at same time then a lot easier

I doubt it, I will be arriving a day or two earlier, so no people to travel with. Also, I'd prefer to avoid London. Too big, too busy, too confusing. But by now I figured out there's a bus from Stansted to Cambridge, and Stansted is as good a destination as any of the other airports around London. From then on, well, as long as I don't have to deal with crowds I'll find a way.

Speaking from a professional thieving urchin standpoint, I'd describe that as "casing the joint."

Unless Mal and Hetan have great proficiency in Serc the current English summer could make this one of the soggier BBQs on record

Still in negotiations with Mr PigDog over who gets the car that weekend. Either way, I will be arriving early afternoon as usual and leaving on Sunday morning (hopefully in one piece!) Looking forward to it.

14 day forecast says sun and showers, but quite warm. It definitely couldn't be as cold as that year Captain Oates turned up

Alas, I'm a bit busy this year, though you'll be glad to know my weekend will still involve significant levels of alcohol and steak!
