My copy finally arrived today (it takes a while to cross an ocean). Just the dramatis personae is enough to make me way more excited about this than I have been. There's also a family tree (the formatting is a bit messed up in my version though), and several maps (but the galley doesn't show them, so I'll have to wait). The galley is 662 pages long and the font is tiny, so I think I'll go blind reading this. Oh well, I suppose it'll be worth it.

As he made the reader the "hero" on the hero's journey in TMBOTF, he will make readers into Blind Gallan with this trilogy.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Orded mine from amazon today cant wait for this book, i'm in the middle of a re-read of the series so the timing of this release is pretty good .Bring on the 31st! On a side note the 31st is pay day too so all in all a good day!
Never pre-orderd a book on amzon usually get them from a bookshop when they are just out or order them a few days after release. I was just wondering if they ship out on the publication date or if it will arrive on the publication date?

Wait. So I have to wait an extra month and a half to get my copy here in the US? Well, at least it doesn't say late December any more, so that's something.

I just got a notification that my order has been shipped. Slightly worried now that they're sending the wrong book.

TOR has posted chapter 1.
And also an introduction from the man himself. He mentions the bitching that's been going on in this thread over apparent inconsistencies.

That's okay, I'll read the other books in the meantime.
I actually don't even have OST yet, due to not being able to get it yet at my bookstore.

Yea I cancelled my Amazon Order just going to stop into one of the Waterstones on my way to work. Usually still get £5 off plus wasn't looking forward to having to wait a week on it being shipped. Plus its pay day tomorrow so I'm not too bothered about paying a bit more and getting it right away.
Don't know how our American friends can wait for weeks on them being shipped. One of the few times I'm glad i live in the UK !

It's landed on my Kindle this morning. I can't be doing with hardbacks - I'll read it on Kindle now and get the paperback when it's eventually published.

I preordered mine from Amazon in April, with free delivery. It was estimating that it would dispatch tomorrow (!) and arrive early next week.
It just arrived this morning! Fab.
Unfortunately I am still 100 pages from the end of the final book of Tad Williams' Shadowmarch series... I kind of have to finish that before starting FoD. Argh! Or not. We'll see.
