The Legend of Korra

As far as I can tell, the flashbacks have only shown an adult Aang and a mystery opponent. Zuko has only been mentioned the once in a cute gag about the two little sisters' different personalities, in episode 1.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I know for sure that I have seen an older Toph and an older Aang in the most recent flashback, along with a strange looking man who I can only assume is a younger Aman.
Also, I have a kind ofout-there theory on Aman: he wears a mask because Koh the face-stealer stole his face.
The theory that is more likely to be true is that Aman was causing trouble and was energy-bended by Aang, but Aman somehow gained the ability to do the same thing.

I am loving this show. It is all I had hoped for. I can't stop looking forward to each flashback of the adult versions of the old characters though.

Not that I'm watching this next in the Avatar series (I saw Avatar: The Last Airbender), but my sister has this blog...

I'm pretty sure 8 of those rescue situations actually happened. Awesome episode today!
Also, found out there is a little "Explore Republic City" game on the Nick.com website with tons of Word of God and background info (for instance, Firelord Zuko has retired and was succeeded by his daughter).

Are... are you hitting on his sister!?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

That depends, is this sister real? Actually, I don't care. Yes I am.

Does anyone else feel like the benders in this series are less powerful than the ones in The Last Air Bender? Maybe it's just me but I feel like Korra is weak compared to Aang.

I think it's more a case of the rest of the world has caught up to the benders. The problem is that Korra is always fighting chi blockers, who train specifically to defeat benders. There was only one chi blocker we ever saw in the old series iirc, but the technique has spread by the time of the new series. Same deal with metal bending, in the old series Toph was the only one who could do it and now it has spread.
Also, I think Korra is not as good of a student as Aang, so she's a bit behind. He was more focused and dedicated.

I think thats because Aang was an Aire bending monk, and he was raised differently. Where as a water tribe student is more, excuse me, "free flowing" and care free.
New ep is good. But I'm not a huge fan of the romance sub plots. It bores me to tears, and I find it hard to believe kids woud be into that stuff either.

Yeah, it's a bit of a running theme with the new series that there are all these things which were invented/unique in TLA but have spread now in TLoK. It was Ty Lee who was the chi-blocker in TLA (best. Character. Ever! Just btw...) and she didn't even get that much screen-time.
But one imagines that if he were fighting multiple Ty Lee's, Aang and co would have failed miserably in their mission at that moment, and never succeeded. XD

I thought it was all a little bit too neat. It needed a cliff hanger. Something to keep us wanting more for next season.

It had a major cliffhanger: there is maximum strife in the city between benders and non-benders, but now they mistrust both benders AND Amon. I'm very eager to learn about the fallout.
Plus, new Iroh was a total badass.

Plus I mean it's a kids show where one villain tries to kill his daughter and is never redeemed, two broken brothers with a horrendous legacy give up everything and settle for a mercy murder suicide, and the Avatar herself almost jumps off a cliff in order to reboot the cycle. There was darkness and major internal conflict aplenty.

The season finale was EPIC.
Iroh especially made my year, and I had to change my pants when the biplanes came roaring in.
You know a show is good when it can get away with killing three characters on screen. I think the only reason I didn't tear up at the brother's boat scene was there were other people in the room...
One thing that slightly disappointed me was the quick resolution of
I can't wait for season 2...

I think Asami's just too good of a person for that...while she has built up quite a bit of angst recently because of her asshole father and her errant boyfriend, sheseems like the type of character who recovers from things like that, albeit slowly.
