ASOIAF is definately a great reread with quite a bit of forshadowing and you always pick up new things. A couple of weeks ago I reread the BRan chapter where he's in the coma and he mentions looking South and seeing a knight in the shape of a hound looking over Sansa and Arya. Interesting as Sandor has had a huge part to play in obth Aryas and Sansa's lives, though in very different ways.

Ugh. Amazon is a great company and all and I order tons of books from them but they are absolutely terrible with yet-to-be-published material. That is very misleading as the paperback will probably take over a year from the day the hardcover edition is released. Not to mention their infamous page counts of books that are still being written.

I think GRRM spends more time thanking us for our patience than he does writing his next book.

Methinks you should disregard Mr. Falco here.

A Song of Ice and Fire is the most critically acclaimed fantasy to come along in years. Wonderfully written with amazingly fleshed out characters.

I like it a tiny bit more than the Malazan books because I tend to like fantasy with a minimalist approach to magic. Magic is just a little bit to common in the Malazan world in my mind and begins to lose its WOW factor after a while. In ASoIaF, because magic is kept mysterious, when it does appear (and it does, trust me) it makes a powerful impact.

Okay, I'm rambling... I urge those who haven't to give em' a try.

An interesting theory I've heard is that the puppeteer is actually Old Nan, and Hodor is hers and Dunk's grandson. That would be interesting indeed.

Martin said that he was having trouble with Feast for Crows. I'd rather have quality control, than pretend that a book doesn't exist. As far as I am concerned Martin can take as long as he wants because I put my life on hold for each new release and I can't afford to do that now.

But aint many of the characters similar in action. Many take things into their own hands and handle them...also people dies even important ones even a little bit to much. And both are epical I dont think Martinson has created more then a very good story it is no where near erikson but its still a class long above some of the more common writers.

@Varys.Yes, the prose is up to the usually high standard.Although with a blunt quality, to reflect the feel of the Iron Isles.

It'e the characterisation of the Krakens, that carries the novella though,especially the Priest.(The uncle of Theon, who we met in earlier books )

He came bursting into my room years ago with a smug look on his face, claiming he had found a new book by an author we both read before I had. Turned out I already had that book sitting on my shelf with a different picture on the front. It had been sitting there for almost four years and the daft b*****d had already read it.

hrm seems to me that he is always taking breaks away from writing this book which to me means he is having serious trouble writing it. oh well mb it will be here in 2005.
