Someone took a run at Trump during the correspondents dinner last night.

Considering how good Americans are at shooting each other they seem to be very bad at hitting. a slow, old fat man who is usually on a raised podium with plenty of light on him.

He then did a press conference and said that this is why he needs the ballroom (this is shortly after a court said he couldn't have the ballroom)

It's all so weird and tiring.

Or a nice big Library like most Presidents do apparently. But call it the Trump Book Depository.

Please, at best it's gonna be a Blockbuster without the "Be kind, rewind" policy!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

They'd lionize him like Jesus.

And Elvis...

And Husayn ibn Ali.

Quote

He is thus remembered as the prince of martyrs (Sayyed al-Shuhada).

The historian G. R. Hawting describes the Battle of Karbala [in which Husayn died] as a "supreme" example of "suffering and martyrdom" for Shi'as. According to Abdulaziz Sachedina, it is seen by Shi'as the climax of suffering and oppression, revenge for which came to be one of the primary goals of many Shi'a uprisings. This revenge is believed to be one of the fundamental objectives of the future revolution [...]

https://en.wikipedia...n_Ali#Aftermath

The first political use of the death of Husayn seems to have been during the revolt of Mukhtar, when he seized Kufa under the slogan of "Revenge for Husayn".[177][178] Although the Penitents had used the same slogan, they do not seem to have had a political program.[177] In order to enhance their legitimacy, Abbasid rulers claimed to have avenged the death of Husayn by dethroning the Umayyads. [...] Riza Yildirim has claimed that the impetus of the Safvid revolution was the revenge of the death of Husayn. [...]

https://en.wikipedia...bn_Ali#Politics

In contrast to the traditional view of Shi'ism as a religion of suffering, mourning and political quietism, Shi'a Islam and [Husayn's death at the battle of] Karbala were given a new interpretation in the period preceding the revolution by rationalist intellectuals and religious revisionists [...] According to these, Shi'ism was an ideology of revolution and political struggle against tyranny and exploitation,[190] and the Battle of Karbala and the death of Husayn was to be seen as a model for revolutionary struggle;[191] weeping and mourning was to be replaced by political activism to realise the ideals of Husayn. [...] Condemning the Iranian monarchy, Khomeini wrote: "The struggle of al-Husayn at Karbalâ is interpreted in the same way as a struggle against the non-Islamic principle of monarchy."

Probably just a coincidence... wonder how frequently she says that sort of thing.

The simpler explanation is incompetence:

I Slept Next Door to the Assassin in Hilton Room 10235. This Is a Security Fiasco

[...] How on earth could someone with a disassembled long gun check into a room at a hotel where the president was going to speak? I can answer that: Nobody even looked at my luggage [...] No magnometers, no hand checks, no I.D. checks. Nothing.

How on earth could that person get downstairs and assemble a long gun? I can answer that too. I moved up and down from Floor 10 all day. Nobody ever stopped me and asked me anything. [...] I have never been searched or frisked when I checked in, or moved in and out of the hotel. To get down from my room to the dinner, I simply flashed my ticket. It could have been a photocopy.

The only time I went past a checkpoint was at the same magnetometers that Cole Allen, 31, sprinted past with his gun.

You must have misssed the announcements.

The Trump presidential library is in full swing. Florida state donated some of the nicest land for it. They took it from the state university. Donors are lining up to donate. The Trump presidential library will be a beautiful skyscraper. Sorry did I say library, I meant hotel. Trump wants his library to be a hotel. Because it doesn’t represent his history as a grifter if it’s not a grift

A skyscraper in the swamp?

Or swamp-skyscraper hybrid...

Gilded swamp.

Anyway, the ballroom is largely a distraction from the presidential bunker underneath that's being renovated and fortified.

Perhaps for when Trump decides he's not leaving office, and threatens to nuke the United States from said bunker... to rule over the radioactive ashes, perhaps by remote controlling drones to hunt down the remaining irradiated mutating anti-MAGA survivors.

The SMIRKS on Leavitt, Hegseth and the others faces just after the event lined up for press is all you need to know how unbelievably and poorly staged this was.

Agreed.

But fear the "ousting" is not going to happen, as the ousters are all on his side. I'm not sure anything would move their needle to disavow him and remove him...they have literally started to resort to defending the Epstein stuff by trying to qualify it as "not that bad" and have started to whisper about giving Maxwell a full federal pardon (One would assume so she doesn't squawk)...If they can't be forced to abandon him and oust him after decades of claiming that the Democrats were engaged in a sex trafficking ring turns out to be their side and their leader...nothing would.

Remember this. Trump sues or threatens to sue everyone...about anything...but he refuses to sue ANYONE who accuses or eludes to him being part of the Epstein thing....why? Because "discovery" proved he raped Ivana in their divorce case which he signed a document to admit...so he's TERRIFIED of discovery only when he knows he's guilty.

I will say that IF he dies in office, the lionizing would only last as long as the myriad of NDAs in his life do, which is not long...the minute those are all null and void, the woodwork will CHURN with the shit he's done with receipts and facts. And the GOP will pretend they didn't know. This is why grifters like MTG and Tucker Carlson have turned already, they can smell the stench and know that if they ever want to maintain relevancy, they need to be distanced BEFORE it happens so they can say "I stopped supporting him before everyone else".....it's a grift, but it's what they think will save their careers.

Kirk's lionization lasted becuase the only real dirt they could dig up on him is that he reportedly paid a trans OF woman upwards of 60k over the course of years for content...which while it goes against his supposed stances and values, is only really a problem to his widow...and it never got more than a little traction as a result.

Which it still bad for the USA but the world issues would cease. Peter Thiel and his creature Vance have less than no interest in wars, and shitting on other countries (most of whom are allies), or inefficient trade nonsense and tariffs, or any of the other shit Trump engages in for his ego and to hide/distract from his myriad crimes.

So better...not fully better, but better than what we have right now with him affecting the globe. And frankly, and this may sound callous but if the problem turns to internal amongst the US population dealing with tech oligarchs and a war criminal narcissist pedo...and leaves the rest of us out of it, perhaps that's the cross that the American public has to bear to change their lot in life.

I for one am DEEPLY tired of the man the US elected affecting my livelihood in a totally separate country, and I'm sure other non-Americans feel the same.

What? is this real? Every accusation really is a confession. They want to ban porn because they cant control themselves. They hate Trans people because they are afraid of accidentally being attracted to them. They hate abortion because they dont mind killing kids but hate giving women choices.

The americans are deeply tired of him too. He has the lowest presidential approval rating in history. 32%, sadly that could be the floor and that remaining 30% are just die hards. Its also the least popular cabinet in history with the least popular VP, First lady and Secretary of Defence in history (I refuse to say war). Likely others too but I dont know the numbers.

We can probably also take it as a fact that presidents can only become less popular as there terms continue. 32% is now pretty much as strong a rating as Trump will ever have.

So far every special or off season election this year has swung in the democrats favour. They have picked up multiple state seats, judges and won the redistricting ballot in Virginia. The house is expected to be a bloodbath for republicans. The senate isnt looking good for them either and that whole body is designed to favor them. Record numbers of incumbent republicans have quit, are quitting or retiring this year which is a sign they know whats coming. If we have a free and fair election Trump will be a lame duck president for his final 2 years.

It's considered unverified as the OF influencer posted it and said it was him, but since OF doesn't use real names for the people purchasing subscriptions, she had no real proof other than what she herself experienced.

But more to the point, I think a VERY big part of the anti-Trans movement in right wing spaces VERY much stems from the fact that HRT has made it so that Trans women pretty much look almost indistinguishable from their biological-sex counterparts and therefore confuses a lot of dudes who think that being attracted to a Trans woman somehow makes them gay - which is a weird take since the thing that would attract you to a Trans woman is their femininity, so you're attracted to women no matter the body parts. Trans women being attractive scares them, I guess?

It may not be true, but he was always on such a tear about Trans people, and so much of that space is projection no matter the RW influencer, that I found it easy to believe. I'm very aware it could be a wrong take too...so YMMV.

EDIT: And I think Byron Noem's outing as to his kink lends the theory about RWers being deeply afraid to accept that they are just more malleable and less-gender regimented than they pretend to be. Though with Kirk I would be more inclined to believe part of his fear was losing what was a clear grift as a job deal.
