So unless his family is mistaken about his criminal record there seem to be no grounds to deport him.

I'm surprised that so many of these stories have been about apparently non-Hispanic, non-Muslim white people getting detained by ICE---or is it just that those are the ones news organization have been granting headlines? Statistically they're probably still disproportionately targeting people of color, Muslims, and Hispanic people.

It's the latter. They're rounding up plenty of non-white people, but the news isn't often interested in their individual stories. But you might hear more broadly about other non-white groups being held at Guantanamo Bay, or being flown to Central or South America en masse (with some resistance and some compliance, depending on the country). I guess one individual story making headlines is the deportation of a U.S. Citizen child with brain cancer (interrupting her treatments) as well as her siblings, to go along with their non-citizen parents. And of course, trying to deport actual permanent residents for being involved in protests. Revoking visas and denaturalizing naturalized citizens, particularly non-whites, is very much among this administration's ethnic cleansing goals (it was in the early stages his last term, but they're holding back less this time).
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Like the (German citizen, greencard holding) electrical engineer, the doctor was also detained at Boston's Logan Airport.

Any noncitizen flying into Logan Airport should really be careful... and maybe consider going to a different airport. It seems (to me at least) like they might be pressing them to fulfill some sort of terrible idiotic quota of deportations. Or they may have just made some awful hires (the one case where DOGE cuts could be beneficial... but they'd probably get rid of any good apples hanging around the rabid would-be little god-emperor-sandworms).

So apparently last night on Truth Social Trump claimed that all Bidens Pardons were null and void?


Like he can't do that....but again, who is going to stop him? There is no rule of law in the USA, as no one is enforcing the laws.

I'm fascinated to know if the people doing this heinous shit are history savvy enough to understand that when they push the proverbial "people" too far, that they will walk that exact same road.

I keep seeing veterans on social media getting red in the face angry about what's happening to them and their supports and I'm like...one of those people who are literally TRAINED for war is going to have their supports cut, or family supports cut and then it's Luigi time.


Do people like Homan, or Musk or anyone else amongst them have any self awareness? Or do they truly think there is no line they can cross that will cause that snap in someone or someone(s)?

It should be noted that Trump supposedly deported Venezuelan gang members....but he didn't deport them to Venezuela, he deported them to a prison in fucking El Salvador, that NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN RELEASED FROM. It sounds like a nightmarish place. No due process, nothing AND ignoring judges orders about it and making sure that the planes were in the air before anyone could do anything about it.

As far as I am aware, none of the people who this is happening to are WHITE. It's so transparent.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's equal opportunity, but I don't think so.

As I mentioned earlier, there have been a bunch of stories about white people being detained for extended periods by ICE. Most recently that electrical engineer (green card, originally from Germany, they tried to get him to give up his green card). Also the German tattoo artist and the British tourist off the top of my head. There will always be some "innocents" caught up, doesn't mean it isn't all going according to plan.

They also hate white liberals. CBP searches and seizes people's phones and other electronic devices at airports and border crossings, and I suspect that if you're a noncitizen then anything MAGA (or that particular agent) doesn't like might get you detained. They also log in to your social media accounts to check for content they don't like.

If you've preemptively deleted things, as the doctor did two days before she was detained, make sure you've also emptied out your recycling bin or your phone's deleted items folder---that's where they found the "sympathetic photos and videos" on Dr. Alawieh's phone.

Yeah, this was definitely a thing that we (as Canadians who hate Trump) were warned about before going into the states during his first term (We deleted social media apps off our phones before we went down to Florida)...nothing happened mind you, but we didn't want to chance it...and that was his first term....I expect that to be on steroids now for a lot of people who "look wrong" in this 2nd vengeful admin where fascism seems the order of the day.

I know a few people who cancelled their planned US March break trips, a few others who went ahead - incl visible minorities of Middle-Eastern origin, and non-het - and reported business as usual for travel, no drama (tho not surprisingly most who went had at least a lawyer's name/number in hand just in case).

The frequency with which they check smartphones and electronic devices probably varies substantially in different areas, with them doing more rarely in economies that are heavily dependent on tourism.

Granted, it could just be a coincidence that two of those horror stories happened at Logan Airport.

But again the vast majority being detained and deported are probably people of color, and mostly Latino. It's being alleged that at least some of the Venezuelans illegally deported to El Salvador were accused of being "gang members" just because they had non-gang related tattoos.

The DOJ says the judge who is trying to determine if the goverment defied his ruling is 'beating a dead horse' asking for details to determine if his order was violated and if so how flagrant it was.

Constitutional crisis or some sever contempt of court punishments seems likely soon.
