Say that the devil intercepted his prayer so that Jesus couldn't cast his protection spell on the property. Either that or the prayer switchboad operator accidentally routed his prayer to Jesus the son of Yahweh to Jesus the gardener. Thus leading to a protection spell of antiweeds. Which is great but not what he was looking for.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

'Prominent televangelist Pat Robertson casts a "shield of protection" ahead of Hurricane Florence.

In a video shared online by Right Wing Watch, Robertson casts a magic spell against Hurricane Florence while citing a passage from the Bible in which Jesus commands the wind and water on the Sea of Galilee to "be still."'

With video:

Do clerics actually cast spells?

Also, the video utterly missed the human sacrifices and ceremonial orgy.

He did condition it; he basically said, 'If we're all united and believe completely enough'... so if it doesn't work, he has at least three options:

1. 'You didn't pray hard enough / believe strongly enough'
2. 'We weren't united enough'
3. 'God is angry at us again.' (Remember, he attributed Hurricane Katrina to 'God's wrath' over abortion.)

https://www.cbsnews....ontroversies/5/

Too bad. I wish he believed strongly enough to stand on the shoreline as the storm's coming in, hand lifted in casting prayers (lifted in warding?). Along with all his flock: living evolution through their dying faith ('a symbol transcended in death')....

(It's interesting how he invokes survivorship bias and the just world fallacy to support magical thinking... which has been all too common in US capitalism as well, and probably extends across cultures and time....)

Here's a prime example of the extension of magical thinking (or irrational optimism) to capitalism:

'North Carolina didn't like science on sea levels … so passed a law against it

In 2012, the state now in the path of Hurricane Florence reacted to a prediction by its Coastal Resources Commission that sea levels could rise by 39in over the next century by passing a law that banned policies based on such forecasts.

The legislation drew ridicule, including a mocking segment by comedian Stephen Colbert, who said: “If your science gives you a result you don’t like, pass a law saying the result is illegal. Problem solved.”

North Carolina has a long, low-lying coastline and is considered one of the US areas most vulnerable to rising sea levels.

But dire predictions alarmed coastal developers and their allies, who said they did not believe the rise in sea level would be as bad as the worst models predicted and said such forecasts could unnecessarily hurt property values and drive up insurance costs.'

It's very depressing and I hope as few people are hurt as possible.

Looks like the storm has swerved away from Virginia.

'The spell worked!'

Is it so terrible that I'm praying the storm circles back and whacks Virginia right in 'the circle of protection'? At least destroy enough property not to encourage people to believe in superstition. (Or send him chasing the storm, to prove the magical potency of Jesus. Put all his most ardent believers in a boat speeding right towards the hurricane. Let him exorcise the clouds.)

It'll never stop. It's why he can't testify. He can't stop lying ever.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Don't worry, traditional moral conservatives will keep Trump's indifference to human life in check.

Well, Trump's time will end. Any single Democrat will beat Trump, as long as that Democrat isn't Hilary Clinton.

I asked BK that once but as is usual he didn't properly answer my question and then swerved to divert it. I gave up asking because it's a lot of nonsense really ʅ(ツ)ʃ

Because of 20+ years of conservative attacks on the clintons.

When Bill was Gov. of Arkansas, Hillary was all about single payer health care, and that caused the conservatives to lose their marbles.

it just culminated with some dude named Ben Gazi and about how much the group that hates gays yearns for buttery males.

Honestly, if she did all the stuff they claimed she did, and managed to not get caught, shes fucking ruthless and hyper-intelligent, and she should be our next president.

(PS - Of course she didn't, and she shouldn't. I shouldn't have to write this line, but these trump supporters say crazier shit all the time)

Manafort Flips, makes deal with Mueller, pleads guilty.

The Twitter explosion from Orange Cheeto man ought to be good on this one.

We'll see what he actually says. Frankly, there's no getting rid of trump before 2020. He can be impeached by a Dem held House, but there is no way in hell Turtleman and his followers would ever get 66 votes to actually ouster him. He'd literally have to shoot someone, on live tv, with millions of people watching while yelling white power! to come even close to being ousted.

I mean it's just interesting now because Manafort was at the tower meeting....Jared and Jr. are clearly next ion Mueller's eyeline, no?
