On the other hand, you can go the Trump route and decide not to do any hard work whatsoever.

How dare you, with a small loan of just 1 million dollars from his father he managed to make 1 million dollars

Haha, true. But I meant specifically in terms of running for president. Like maybe learning about anything the job actually entails.

Now here's some wacky goings-on from American jurisprudence:

http://www.slate.com...caregivers.html

The Arizona Supreme Court has just willfully defined "any contact between an adult and a child’s genitals" -- context irrelevant -- as criminal behavior. As you can see from the article, while bad phrasing in the legislation is the initial problem, the Court itself could have revised it and chose not to -- i.e. they weren't forced by the letter of the law so much as determinedly and proactively in favor of that interpretation.

That's one way of making sure one can't speak about a nanny-state.
Where does the limit of age 15 come from, though? And who is going to check this?

I imagine it comes from "age of consent" in the state of Arizona, but that's just a guess. I know -- and other countries might find this among one of the US's weirdest aspects -- that age of consent differs (sometimes pretty drastically) from state to state. That said, it's not the kind of thing I want to Google -- I'm positive there are perv sites that keep track of all 50 states as well as territories -- so I'm gonna leave it an educated guess. Someone else can verify if they feel like it!

Spacing of such things, is it true that Trump has a rape case coming up against him? I've seen a few things floating around Facebook and the like but nothing solid from a reputable source...

It's a civil case, but yeah, though it won't precede the election. This article may help: http://www.huffingto...b_10619944.html

Part 2 explains two previous events and their outcomes.

Part 3 covers the current case with Jane Doe (she was a minor at the time of the alleged rapes).

Part 1 you can take or leave depending on how relevant you feel it is.

Well, it's relevant in that it establishes the character, but it's not new, certainly. Thanks for the article though, a very well researched one (not normally that much of a HP fan, but this was excellent.)

Yah, I'd normally seek a more news-y source, but you were right when you guessed that it's not really being covered, like, at all. And the article is pretty heavy with the info, even as it's clearly trying to make a point too.

There was some really interesting discussion about the ruling on r/law if you're interested. I would link it but I'm on mobile

I believe this is what you're after. And you're right, it is interesting!

Worry, I'm not sure what a news-y source is any more, everyone seems to be leaning one way or another, even the good old beeb is showing signs of not being quite as neutral as they like to think.

Well in this case I just meant news-y as a contrast to bloggy, which that article definitely (and explicitly, no deception) is. But it turned out to be sufficiently informative anyway imo. And I know what you mean about the news, but for me it's not so much that I oppose bias so much as I hate pretend objectivity or fake "balance".

Is it just me, or is everyone else eagerly awaiting the Monday debate?

I can't wait to see someone actually competent (despite all her flaws, HRC is competent) debate Trump. If he can JEB! her though, it would be equal parts beautiful and horrifying.

I'm on pins & needles. Also really curious about the VP debate (which is in early Oct) since for some reason Mike Pence is the "most trusted" of the quartet and I would hope to see this hate-filled rat bag get exposed on live TV. Not that I think it will change many votes, I just want to see it happen.
