Seriously what is wrong with Alaska?
Sarah Palin can't even put a single sentence together, and she became their governor.
WTF

Alaska resident incomes are all subsidized by the state's oil production via yearly check, by order of the state Constitution, so naturally they hate socialism.

It's sparsely populated. Its government is funded so well by oil that they don't have taxes. They could elect a polar bear governor and they would probably be okay.

I think Tina Fey would make a fine governor.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I guess that makes sense. Still it's sad that I speak a better english than the former governor of Alaska.

MSNBC has a Des Moines (Iowa capital) precinct counting votes at the Republican caucus, and Rubio is killing it. The numbers that are already in are from the sparsely-populated precincts where Rubio was never expected to do well, and even in those early numbers he's doing better than predicted by the Selzer poll (Des Moines Register), which is highly regarded as the best poll in terms of methodology and predictive record.
Also at a precinct in Des Moines, Bernie is killing it by a mile.
This is getting my hopes up. I realize these two precincts are just a small portion of the total but I doubt they're terrible outliers.

Bernie is going to kill Iowa City, Des Moines, and a couple others. His strength is the youth vote. Problem is, Iowa Dem Caucus isn't one person one vote. That would have helped him immensely.
I am glad to see Rubio eating into Trump and Cruz, though.

As it is, the fact that the race is tight is helping him, because Hillary can't afford to sacrifice too many of her supporters to give O'Malley viability.
For the furriners, at the Democratic caucus in Iowa, you go into the caucus room and you stand in the designated area for your favored candidate, or in the area for undecided voters. If any candidate has less than 15% of the total, they can appeal to the undecideds, but at a certain point they have to give up and either join another group or go home. Most of O'Malley's supporters are going to Bernie, so Hillary is trying to prop them up when she can afford it so that Bernie gets fewer delegates.
Watching on MSNBC at one Des Moines Dem caucus, and the Bernie supporters were trying to convince the undecideds. It wasn't pretty, and Brian Williams just had to apologize for bad language. I love that guy.

Love the fact that Bernie is at a Holiday Inn. Gotta be that indoor pool and continental breakfast that he just can't deny.

Yes, that's what is exciting about tonight. People will FINALLY drop out. Bush and Christie and Kasich won't drop out until after New Hampshire, maybe after South Carolina, but a few others will probably drop out after tonight, including O'Malley.

Looks like O'Malley will be the first, actually. His staffers leaked that he'll be announcing the suspension of his campaign at 9:30 CST (approximately 30 minutes from now).

Iowa called for Cruz, finally, with 99% of GOP precincts reporting.

Aroused anticipation.
Cruz as president is even better than Trump as president. Just imagine the next eleven months of fun we all are going to have...
