Dems sorta officially hit +40 today in the House. Pretty big deal, I think, after the (fairly predictable) naysaying in the mainstream press on election day. They're not all lefties, naturally, but plenty of them are and it's really heartwarming.
They're up against a lot, and they don't have all the power in the world, but if they can be a stick in the spokes for two years while helping to reshape the tenor of the party leftward (I know, baby steps), it'll be something to celebrate. At the very least, the willingness not to sugarcoat business as usual is refreshing and gives me cautious optimism.

Also you guys got me thinking of Mike Pence, so I checked what's been up with him lately. Oh, not much.

Looks like James Fields (the guy who killed Heather Heyer in Charlottesville) was found guilty of murder in the first degree, although I haven't seen any official reporting yet. The verdicts for the other counts are still being read I think.

I believe it's a reference to this. Smacks of Holocaust revisionism and the like.

I hadn't ever really considered this angle. I just thought the Obamas were gracious toward the Alpha Turd at the GHWB funeral because they have class.
And on a more basic note they would have had the smarts (unlike Lord Cheetoh) to realise this was neither the time nor the place, especially with all the cameras.

Apparently Chief of Staff John Kelly is leaving the white house at the end of the year.
Who will replace him? The place is already a leaking madhouse. Who wants to take control of a sinking boat? Nobody with career ambitions would surely want that position, right?
Maybe Jared Kushner or Ivanka could take over?

There are plenty of idiots with more ambition than sense.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I have an old acquaintance working for this administration in the White House. He works for NASA so he's doing some kind of NASA stuff for Trump. When he got the job early on in the presidency he was bragging on Facebook and I really had a hard time not pointing out that it might be because no other self respecting scientist would apply for the post. I do wonder how he'll feel long term when he's telling people he worked in the WH and gets asked which presidency it was for. He's not that bright on the politics side so maybe he will never realise.

The thing is he apparently was in discussions and lobbying for the job for months. So I wonder if he did wise up and realize the risks, was he just playing for time before or is he actually a trump fan who actualy does have triplets and want to go home.
Also should I be worried? Am I an underperformer? Hope Hicks was the PR manager for trump sicne she was 26? Nick Ayers is chief of staff of the VP and could be chief of staff of the president at 36. I forget off hand the others but it seems like a lot of Trumps picks should be too young and inexperienced for the jobs they receive. Are they prodigies? Do they just have the right family connections? What is going on.

Well, supposedly Ayers became a multi millionaire by lobbying for the Saudis so all you really need is to be incredibly wealthy and use corruption to get ahead of the rest. Simple really. Don't know why everyone doesn't do it.

I just read a rumor that Chris Christie is a strong contender for new White House Chief of Staff. Oh yes, please. The entertainment value will be amazing. Kushner hates him and Trump treats him like a door mat. This will be amazing (for everyone but the American people)!

You guys watch the meeting between the Democrats and the white house?
If you don't want to hear Trump rambling you can skip to around 5 minutes in where the train wreck begins.

My toes were curling from how hard I was cringing through this thing.
I loved that Pence just sat there and stared for 15 minutes.

It made the rounds to all the expected comedy outlets. Colbert had a pretty funny riff on Pence just sitting there. Good ol' Chuckles should at least try and convince everyone he's not intimidated by Trump by looking him in the eye when he debates him. It was Trump's idea to have camera's there, obviously for histrionics. When that denture sucking weirdo (Pelosi), said they should hash things out in private, Trump said something about how he likes the cameras there, it's healthy transparency (or something along those lines). Yeah right. Trump said he would own solely the action for shutting down the government. Another, 'yeah right'. You know the tweets will be flying. I guess afterwards, the denture sucker had some scathing things to say about Trump,.
