As the son and uncle of survivors of assault...watching these old white men spout bullshit to try to bend this all to their whims is disgusting me.

Last ditch effort to save his flakey soul?

I mean, IF this delays the floor vote for an FBI investigation...does it? I don't know...that's likely bad news for Kavanaugh. especially if Avenatti turns up with Swetnick's proof and witnesses.

As I understand it, Kavanaugh has been approved by the committee and his nomination is now open to the Senate floor. But Senator Flake, in pretty much the last moment, called for an FBI investigation.

Though, Mcconnell could still just push through with a full vote.

Which I think he is likely to do, given his track record.

It doesn't delay the senate floor. That would be up to the majority leader, ie. Mcconnell.

So that's what they were doing(Coons and Flake(def not a Trump fan)) I mentioned.

Kinda confused on things. He's still getting the floor vote but Flake isn't voting till he sees an FBI report I think.

Kavanaugh was approved by the committee, so there's nothing preventing Mcconnell from just pushing the vote through.

Whether Flake would then vote against, after calling for an FBI investigation, is anyone's guess. But he has made it clear that he would vote to confirm. That means other republican senators would have to vote against.

But Flake looked...shook up? I mean, he well have just been tired, but this is a rather sudden change, don't you think?

I think...I could be wrong...but having actual citizens ream him out in the elevator this morning with impassioned pleas about what he was actually doing and saying towards women and survivors with his support of the GOP push for Kavanaugh...may have rattled him enough to make this happen?

That would assume it was his conscience...which may be entirely absent. who knows at this point.

It sounds like Avenatti and Swetnick are going fully public with everything they know this weekend as a result of todays theatrics. This isn't over by a long shot I don't think. More skeletons to come.

And if the FBI actually get to subpoena Mark Judge in front of them to question, he's going to buckle. His reaction from his hidey-hole in a friends Maryland beach house was "How did you find me?" and then silence...he knows.

Well, let's see.

As Grassley said to Feinstein, this was a "gentlemen's and women's agreement".

I wouldn't put much hope in Mcconnell responding to that in any other way than "I have made no such deal" and then pushing through for a vote.

The man is entirely untrustworthy and I will be greatly surprised if he agrees to delay the vote and ask the white house for an FBI investigation.

Particularly because, as I've stated before, he knows Kavanaugh is guilty and he doesn't care.

I am a bit surprised that some people still seem to believe that Kavanaugh might not be appointed anymore. The bloody president of the country is a known woman abuser, but that didnt stop him from getting elected to the highest office in the Western world. For Kavanaugh this is just a small annoying hurdle. The USA is morally bankrupt.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I basically agree. If, and that's a big, huge fucking if, Mcconnell agrees to delay and the White House agrees to an FBI investigation, then he might not be confirmed.

But it pretty much all rests with Mcconnell, and that man is as trustworthy as a wet cardboard box is structurally sound.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

'Flake said he will not vote “yes” for Kavanaugh during the Senate vote without a proper FBI investigation.'

'Following Flake’s announcement, two other senators considered swing votes — Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Sens. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) — indicated that they support Flake’s call for a delay.'

Hmm, am I wrong in thinking that this seems a bit like a Schrödinger's Cat situation for the GOP?

At the same time, they have everything to gain and everything to lose.

If, and that's a big if, Kavanaugh is innocent they will have literally EVERYTHING to gain from an FBI investigation.

1: Their nominee confirmed!
2: His reputation categorically vindicated!
3: GOP majority on SCOTUS!
4: Judicial protection for Trump!
5: A very real possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned!

And probably lots more.

But should the FBI conclude that he is guilty, the GOP will have, in the most spectacularly public way, demonstrated clearly that they are evil and immoral thugs who care nothing for anyone who's not them.

Wait, I'm wrong. They actually have more to gain than to lose.

Looks like we're gonna find out by the end of next week.

This is kinda cool (and on-site, is totally interactive w/ the full transcript):

They came with white hands and left with red hands.
