They're planning for the future.
They need to be able to say they didn't completely slobber all over the ring the entire time Emperor Trump was on the throne.

I think this is it EXACTLY. Perhaps they sense the way the wind is blowing and are preparing?

Anyways, we're they kind of critical of him before he had the nomination, and after he won it they began all their slobber-praise?

I don't know. Hasn't it become popular in US media (thanks to Trump) to one day report one thing and do a one-eighty on the next? Would their viewership really mind if they changed course after Trump got sacked (one can dream, right?). Given most people's attention span...

Fox certainly plays that game but at root they're playing to Trump and his support base.
That said, the execs and shareholders cannot all be complete morons all of the time, and someone in there has to be thinking about what happens when/if the shift away from Trump picks up.

Also, media in general does so love to build someone up so they can drag them down even harder.

I'm already being slammed with political ads. All racing to Trumpism.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

If Trump had actually done any kind of work in terms of diplomacy with anyone I would give him credit but there has been nothing like that. Calling people names on Twitter is not what brought North Korea around. Most likely it was the destruction of their nuclear what ever it was that collapsed. They looked at how much it would cost to rebuild, what they had to gain by continuing the program and how much they could win by playing nice for a while.

Hasn't he spent like a literally half of the last year at his resort, golfing?

Any actual progress that has occurred in global political sphere (or rather MIGHT occur) is totally despite him, and not due in any way to him.

I'm rather disappointed in my state at the moment. Oregon is usually a rather bue-leaning state, but like California there is a large part of red territory in our eaten farmlands and desert. Now, I'm usually open to at least considering the stances of a moderate Republican candidate, but the leading candidate for our gubernatorial Republican candidate just makes me a little sick.

That's right folks, we have a Trumpian candidate looking likely to make it to the state ballot this year. I really thought better of this state.

American political colour coding is weird. Everywhere else in the world red is left-wing and blue is right-wing, apart from in the USA. Why is that?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

It's a conspiracy. The greatest trick the communists ever pulled was convincing the American people they are actually Republicans.

Also for some reason on our weather maps the Hs are blue and the Ls are red. They represent pressure, not temperature, but same difference. What about you guys? And what's this got to do with Politics? The Illuminati, that's what.

Oh boy, all the buzz and faux outrage this morning is over Michelle Wolf's jokes last night at the WHCD (which this year actual Trump admin officials attended, except Trump of course, he was in Michigan giving one of his MAGA pep rallies).

I thought it was a very hit and miss performance. Lot of not very good jokes, delivered not that well, that bombed horribly. But she sure did have some serious burns for the administration as well. I enjoyed some of her more uncomfortable material like the stuff about abortions. You could see people squirming.

I have to say, her voice doesn't lend itself well to that kind of work. Maybe it was just the audio but her enunciation and timing made a lot of the jokes hard to understand. She seems like one of those comedians who would play a quirky side-character on a sitcom.

I found it to be a very good performance. But of course, it may be just the fact that I don't care very much if her jokes were in good taste and that I do care very much that she was pretty much right about most of what she said. Those lines about The Handmaid's Tale/Sara Huckabee Sanders/Pence were great.

I like annoying voices so I have a soft spot for Michelle Wolf. I've only watched the Sarah Sanders clip so far, but I had confidence that MW would go for the throat (she has no trouble being mean) and I'm so glad she did. This whole admin of ghouls should be skewered over a fire and roasted alive (literally), but given how unlikely that is, a little metaphorical roasting is the least they can deal with.

Okay just watched the whole thing and she killed it, top to bottom.

Yeah I loved it. The whole bit towards the end telling the press that they're profiting from Trump was spot on.

You could certainly tell who were the Republicans when they panned around the room after about the 8 minute mark. More stony faces than Easter Island.

:D

I think almost everyone in the room came together for "How broke is he?". A lot of common cause there.
