Listening to CNN dissect this disaster talking about working class whites wanting change because Washington does not care about them.
If I wasnt so worried I'd be laughing at the notion that any of those people believe Trump will work for them more. They are about to get the biggest screwing over in history/
While that's a given, the real question ought to be, "why did all the "established" politicians ignore this inert mass of potential voters for so many years?"
I mean now that we've all accepted what happened, the world needs to figure out "why was there such a demand for Trump's rhetoric in the first place?" And what can other countries do to avoid the same shit happening there?
Edit: Keep in mind, Trump basically didn't use the republican's "official"campaigning methods- his sole biggest tools were the media (where any publicity = good publicity) and his rallies. His win is going to shatter a lot of conceptions about how elections ought to be done. There WILL be all kinds of "interesting" people who will try to replicate his "media only" strategy. And he's demonstrated that there's a sizeable portion of potential voters
on whom this works and they are enough to make a difference.
There's a lot of fascinating repercussions that'll come of this.
