Well, I guess president Trump is going to be obsessed with his personal image and will spend more time on being seen than making policy. The bureaucracy should be slow enough to grind most idiotic stuff Trump might propose into lengthy papers but no active lawmaking during his first term. Following that, there is every chance that he will soon start fighting the Republicans for not supporting him enough, and I highly doubt that Trump will be a two-term president. In four years time, there will be enough ammunition to remove him: all the promises about walls, ISIS, trade et cetera should be enough to bring him down. A democratic candidate with a credible blue collar appeal, perhaps through an army background, will wipe the floor with him (Joe Biden could have been ideal - but he'll be 78 by then). The bad news is that this person is probably not Warren.

The worst issue internally/economically is that the Republicans might put stuff in front of him and have him sign it. But the question remains whether that is truly catastrophic or merely going back in time. Climate change is a huge problem, but in all honesty, the treaties that were proposed, were not enough to begin with. The main problem I see, is geopolitical. While I doubt Trump will nuke anyone and I think he'll go isolationist (simply because he doesn't understand the complications of it all), I just hope the Republicans will hold on to NATO and will continue to take a firm stance against Russia. I think he'll be tough on China - after all, it does seem he has a racially motivated superiority complex.

I don't think CC will actually be SCOTUS anyway. In fact, I'm flummoxed as to what he gained or what Trump gained by their association (except Trump's alpha dominance). CC is hated more than ever, he didn't make the rounds as a surrogate really, and it all seems to have come to nothing. I suppose he might have earned himself a pardon if he's ever prosecuted for Bridgegate, but I wouldn't count on even that.

Trump is a business man. He's going to run the White House like the Chairman of the Board. He'll have head hunters that will select the best people (He has The Best People), who are most likely to create political profit and who will make him look good. IE competent people who will make sure the country doesn't hit an iceberg.

Personally I think it's fascinating that Trump is almost certainly your next president. Maybe he's going to fail but at least you're going to try something different for 4 years.

You might be overestimating Trump's actual appeal here. I've said it before; I'll say it again: Trump won because of Hillary's unpopularity on the right. That is what motivated people to get out and vote. Trump was not even BK's first choice, for those who don't remember, but BK has been pretty consistent in his hatred for Hillary. That's absolutely typical. Yes, Trump appeals to the red-meat base, but that's roughly half of the Republican Party, and if he'd had a different opponent, many of those red meat types would not have shown up to vote.

And Elizabeth Warren actually does have a good bit of blue-collar appeal. She knows how to put things in layman's terms and that's part of what makes her so popular. She is a Harvard professor from Oklahoma; she's a very authentic mix of rural sensibility and the academic elite. She gained her popularity partly by stumping about financial injustice in blue collar communities; she expertly targets all her speeches to people's real financial difficulties; she's written books about it, understands it, and doesn't have to resort to technobabble to explain it. Whereas Bernie tends to ramble incoherently, Warren can give a speech about complex financial regulations and make it sound like third-grade storytime. She understands finance better than anyone in the Senate and she almost never comes off as incomprehensible.

Yes, Hillary was unpopular, but I also suspect this was a reaction long time in the making. Stagnating wages, a shrinking middle class and ever growing inequality of opportunity lead to this I think. And as you say, Sanders might have been a better choice to tap into that same vein. He's certainly closer to the politics of my country, and we're a socialist paradise after all.

At the same time, this election shows that people simply aren't very interested in the truth any more. Consider all the conspiracies surrounding Clinton. Even a cursory google search would show you that they've been debunked time and time again, and yet if you believe that all the media is lying to you then it's easy to ignore all that and just continue believing only what supports your predetermined narrative. (you as in people, not you Terez, if that wasn't clear).

I worry for the US that sites like Breitbart have become a serious voice in your politics. That people can actually visit that place and say 'yes, this makes sense. I will listen to these people'.
