To no one's surprise but (hopefully) to everyone's anger, CECOT is a full-on torture camp.

8 Democrats caved, ensuring that the messaging the R's have been hammering away at for 40 days (that this is the Democrats shutdown) will stick now since democrats caved on it without getting ANY concessions. Making the last 40 days worth absolutely nothing.

Establishment Democrats are just as bad as the R's in a lot of cases.

Yip, absolutely mind boggling.

——————————————

So pardons for Rudy Gullianai, Sidney Powell, Mark Meadows and false electors. One week after the republicans got an election drubbing. If that’s not a signal that there will be no repercussions so long as we win I don’t know what is.

Also since technically accepting the pardon is an admission of guilt doesn’t this mean acknowledging outright they tried to subvert an election

Trump has learned that being ruthless, cruel, destructive, and psychopathic will get him his way, because enough "weak" Democrats will cave.

With the pardons it seems like he's obviously preparing to contest---or outright steal---the 2026 elections.

"Do what Trump wilt is the whole of the law"...

On that note, I'm a little surprised Trump apparently isn't trying to just destroy the most damning evidence against him in the Epstein files. It would be tricky because copies may be held by the House Oversight Committee and by court system, but the executive branch has authority over the people who actually guard the documents, so Trump could order them fired, have his loyal "law enforcement" goons go in and destroy the records, then pardon everyone involved.

Or maybe it's just taking a while to set that up...

Worse he's learned that NO ONE at any level of government or courts will EVER hold him accountable. Not even the (supposed) opposition political party.

The Rs just got handed a bunch of losses in elections the other night...and almost like clockwork the Establishment Dems prove they have no interest in upsetting the status quo and have capitulated to him...letting the Rs yank a win out of all this anyways....

This has been incredibly upsetting to me. I'm hoping that the broad negative reactions from Democrats around the country will be enough to force some of these DINOs to change their minds (or, more realistically, buck from Schumer's backroom dealings) before the votes this week.

Its political malpractice! Surely they have strategy advisors.

Air traffic was having to shut down weeks before thanksgiving. The presidency was openly making headlines about not wanting to try and feed poor people, 1/7th of the country, weeks before thanksgiving. Polls showed the public overwhelmingly blamed republicans. The recent election wave showed the public was dissatisfied with the current direction. They caved for the promise of a vote? A vote that will fail? It will prove the republicans dont care about funding healthcare, which was already proved by the government shutdown.

Some poor schmuck won 2 billion dollars on the super lottery and they took 1.3B in taxes off him.
Granted the lucky bastard has 700m in the bank but the lottery is taxed at purchase. Seems you can tax Billionaires, but only if theyre poor

I've always been curious if this is just Canada but lottery winnings in Canada are never taxed as the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) considers them to be a windfall gain. They don't consider it income. What you win is what you get.

"In a letter to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee of MPs, Mr Shah said Mr Trump's speech was edited in a way that gave "the impression of a direct call for violent action"."

Wait, so was the video edited or not? Because he definitely incited people to riot.

It was copy pasted in color that blends in is the guess.

No idea what the 8 democrat senators are thinking. I would like robust explanations beyond "people are suffering".... YES. Because of this bullshit and you are only going to prolong the suffering in the long term by being such short term wastes of space.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

The thing that bothers me is that if it was ANYONE ELSE....ANYONE....and the amount of shit that proves that Trump was involved with Epstein had piled up to where it has....they would be done like dinner...ANYONE else....

But since a bunch of morons have crowned him their godking nothing happens to him.

Ooh they're all twisting words now to try and make it sound like this proves he isn't a child rapist, and that he was in fact fighting for good!

Tim Kaine wrote a column explaining his vote and I think in terms of writing, it's not really a coherent series of thoughts beyond "we have to get SNAP/WIC back on and stop the reductions in force".

There's a likely purposeful avoidance of explanation of how the group of 8 will deal with the almost certain bad faith actions by the Republicans or the explosion of healthcare costs next year. Giving away the strategy ahead of time isn't ideal, but to me, voting yes here comes off too much like a cave, especially after a super strong election result for Democrats nationally, state wide, and locally.

Being a true opposition party is a winning strategy and the President is focused on somehow mitigating Epstein files damage. This is the perfect storm to really damage the Republican agenda right here and now.

Yip, crazy. Woke up to news that Trump may have known about child molester and not acted. Seems like it should be calamitous news but it’s landed with a thud. Headlines are saying ‘bombshell’ and ‘knocked the white house on its heels’ but it seems like news thrown into a black hole. Where’s the action, the investigations, calls for impeachment etc

Amusingly, I saw. video of a woman confronting Kaine in the capitol and the thrust of his comment was "This isn't political" when she brought up how votes would not be pulled from the Dems who helped orchestrate this who ARE up for elections this coming cycle even if the ones who voted yes aren't, and she was like "Sorry, you want to not talk about politics with regards to a govt shutdown" and he said "No, just your vote"....he was spiralling and spiralling.

I mean a lot of people are, but many of the mainstream media sites aren't amplifying those voices. I think a lot of people are struggling to accept that they've made supporting a paedo for however many years they're entire personality.
