China sure had a shitload of electric vehicles when I was there in March/April. Build Your Dreams were pretty ubiquitous. Now did I see much solar or wind power installations? Absolutely not. But the "joy" of living in a dictatorship is if it becomes a priority it is going to happen, with consequences for people an afterthought.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Trump won’t live to see a third term I’m pretty sure.

His health has been stubbornly good despite all his flaws though. Still don’t take this from me.

I actually think Trump 4 years from now will make everyone who pointed the dementia finger at Biden look silly. His brain is already Swiss cheese

——————————

The madness continues. He wants to end FEMA? Don’t think I have ever heard anyone promote this idea before. Maybe the few people who think fema is a plot to put us all in death camps but I don’t listen them much.

Given he is threatening to withhold aid from California as we speak I assume he really just wants to consolidate disaster relief power to himself.

—————————

Mind boggling that the decision to pull people’s security details is one the president can make. I mean in this case it’s obviously and nakedly retributive by trump but I mean even generally speaking if it’s too small a decision for a president to make he shouldn’t actually have the power to make it.

It’s also disgusting. Doesn’t matter what Fauci did or didn’t do for example, whether he was right or wrong. He receives death threats from his work as a government employee. He should be entitled to commensurate protection from said government.

No idea why Bolton is at the heart of a conspiracy by Iran to kill him but likewise if an enemy nation wants to kill an American, America should thwart them for that reason alone.

Fun extra fact: China (who had already been positioned to become the world leader in the future in clean energy), jumped to that lead due to Trump backing out of stuff like the Paris Agreement again...

I'm no expert, but wouldn't be surprised if china is lying about that. That said, trumpler is likely going to set green energy back fifty years before he's done.

They could be falsifying their internal production/usage numbers, but they're also leading the world in exporting solar panels and wind turbines, and those international shipping numbers should be easier to independently confirm.

China's dominance in wind turbine manufacturing - Reuters

In terms of number of electric cars exported they were also number one in 2023:

Quote

nearly 1.6 million EVs exported in 2023 (the largest volume of any exporter).

https://www.usitc.go..._ev_exports.pdf

When I initially tried to look that up I got the misleading answer that Germany exported the most (electric cars) in terms of dollar value in 2023, but that's because Chinese cars are so much cheaper.

Trump has banned wind farms. Seriously why does he have an all consuming hatred of wind turbines.

I don’t think that can stick. A lot of people in Yexas for example make a lot of money on them.

Donald Quixote...

Meanwhile he's banning (government-sponsored) cancer research:

Quote

US health agency employees are now banned from nearly all travel and certain agencies and programs have been ordered to stop issuing new contracts and grants until further notice. [...] The unprecedented halt to US medical research through the NIH also announced on Wednesday meant meetings were canceled, some right before they were scheduled to happen and others that were stopped halfway through.

Researchers on social media spoke about cancer research grinding to a halt as participants wait for experimental treatments and the effects the shutdown would have on universities and scientific advancement around the world.

Funding from the NIH is "the lifeblood of the entire US biomedical research enterprise, which is a cornerstone of the US economy"

Just received notice that my NIH study section next week has been cancelled. It has nothing to do with DEI and will have a negative impact on critical cancer research.

My mother-in-law is literally about to start a treatment regimen including a very recently approved drug for late stage cancer discovered by someone I formerly collaborated with. This delay matters to people like her.

And it should matter to you.

It's a combination of personal grudge (Scotland built a wind farm near his golf course there very much against his wishes and protests), naked corruption (satisfying the fossil fuel industry), and general Fox-brained right-wing contrarianism to anything good.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

They are independently vetted by the same two groups that look into every country doing this, including Canada. They would have no reason to lie.

It's going to have to take quite a bit longer, if ever, before reality sets in with people, and it probably never will with his most ardent supporters.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

From last week but still hits hard:

WARNING: Parody. But sadly very true.

Inauguration Marred By Deranged Man Walking Right Onto Stage

https://theshovel.co...ght-onto-stage/

A mentally disturbed man has tainted the otherwise smooth running of the 47th Presidential inauguration, casually walking onto the stage and giving what appeared to be an impromptu speech.

The man, who authorities say was an attention seeking, mentally challenged man, walked right up to the podium, waving his arms and smaller-than-average hands.

He then talked for many minutes, making a range of outrageous claims, although onlookers say it was difficult to make sense of his message.

Authorities say that, apart from the intrusion, the ceremony ran without a hitch.

Felon Seen Trying to Enter White House

https://theshovel.co...er-white-house/

Several reports have confirmed sightings of a convicted criminal successfully entering the White House grounds this morning, despite heavy security and surveillance at the famous property.

It is unclear how the man, who has a known criminal record, has been compared to Adolf Hitler by previous colleagues, and has made multiple and credible threats of violence in the past, was able to pass into the building unchallenged.

Police received several reports of a man with orange skin and small hands entering the property. The description matches that of the convicted criminal.

The 78 year-old man is well known to authorities after repeated incidents of fraud, corruption, inciting violence and associating with Elon Musk. In 2021 he unsuccessfully attempted to overthrow the Government.

More to come.

So Elon has been attending neo-nazi rallies in Germany now and telling people to let go of their national shame.

But you will still get all these right wingers defending him saying that the nazi salute he did the other day wasn't REALLY the nazi salute. Bunch of sycophantic garbage humans.

I think it's hilarious that the same people that hoard weapons and fear the government (they's comm'nists ... they ain't gittin' ma gurns ...) are full speed ahead with Trump's openly stated aims to amend the constitution (Presidente por vida) and become a dictator.
Those guys tend to use the military to step on any "free thinkers". Just saying.
Democracy in America dies not with a bang, nor a whimper, but with rapturous applause.

It's amusing (and scary) to watch so many people bend all the way over on stuff they used to pretend was a line you did not cross (changing/ignoring the constitution, overstepping your federal mandate as president ect.), all because the guy is on your side doing cruel things you want him to do. Like this just tells us that a majority of Americans morals and righteous "We are a country of laws!" statements are bullshit the MINUTE you get someone in charge who is doing things you like to people you've been told/taught to hate.

It won't be funny when such a death cult spirals towards them with a squad of face-eating leopards in tow....but of course by then it's always too late.
