China sure had a shitload of electric vehicles when I was there in March/April. Build Your Dreams were pretty ubiquitous. Now did I see much solar or wind power installations? Absolutely not. But the "joy" of living in a dictatorship is if it becomes a priority it is going to happen, with consequences for people an afterthought.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Trump won’t live to see a third term I’m pretty sure.
His health has been stubbornly good despite all his flaws though. Still don’t take this from me.
I actually think Trump 4 years from now will make everyone who pointed the dementia finger at Biden look silly. His brain is already Swiss cheese
——————————
The madness continues. He wants to end FEMA? Don’t think I have ever heard anyone promote this idea before. Maybe the few people who think fema is a plot to put us all in death camps but I don’t listen them much.
Given he is threatening to withhold aid from California as we speak I assume he really just wants to consolidate disaster relief power to himself.
—————————
Mind boggling that the decision to pull people’s security details is one the president can make. I mean in this case it’s obviously and nakedly retributive by trump but I mean even generally speaking if it’s too small a decision for a president to make he shouldn’t actually have the power to make it.
It’s also disgusting. Doesn’t matter what Fauci did or didn’t do for example, whether he was right or wrong. He receives death threats from his work as a government employee. He should be entitled to commensurate protection from said government.
No idea why Bolton is at the heart of a conspiracy by Iran to kill him but likewise if an enemy nation wants to kill an American, America should thwart them for that reason alone.

Fun extra fact: China (who had already been positioned to become the world leader in the future in clean energy), jumped to that lead due to Trump backing out of stuff like the Paris Agreement again...

I'm no expert, but wouldn't be surprised if china is lying about that. That said, trumpler is likely going to set green energy back fifty years before he's done.
They could be falsifying their internal production/usage numbers, but they're also leading the world in exporting solar panels and wind turbines, and those international shipping numbers should be easier to independently confirm.

In terms of number of electric cars exported they were also number one in 2023:
Quote
nearly 1.6 million EVs exported in 2023 (the largest volume of any exporter).

When I initially tried to look that up I got the misleading answer that Germany exported the most (electric cars) in terms of dollar value in 2023, but that's because Chinese cars are so much cheaper.

Trump has banned wind farms. Seriously why does he have an all consuming hatred of wind turbines.

I don’t think that can stick. A lot of people in Yexas for example make a lot of money on them.

Meanwhile he's banning (government-sponsored) cancer research:
Quote
US health agency employees are now banned from nearly all travel and certain agencies and programs have been ordered to stop issuing new contracts and grants until further notice. [...] The unprecedented halt to US medical research through the NIH also announced on Wednesday meant meetings were canceled, some right before they were scheduled to happen and others that were stopped halfway through.
Researchers on social media spoke about cancer research grinding to a halt as participants wait for experimental treatments and the effects the shutdown would have on universities and scientific advancement around the world.
Funding from the NIH is "the lifeblood of the entire US biomedical research enterprise, which is a cornerstone of the US economy"

Just received notice that my NIH study section next week has been cancelled. It has nothing to do with DEI and will have a negative impact on critical cancer research.
My mother-in-law is literally about to start a treatment regimen including a very recently approved drug for late stage cancer discovered by someone I formerly collaborated with. This delay matters to people like her.
And it should matter to you.

Leave it all up to the privateering sector...

It's a combination of personal grudge (Scotland built a wind farm near his golf course there very much against his wishes and protests), naked corruption (satisfying the fossil fuel industry), and general Fox-brained right-wing contrarianism to anything good.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
