BBC is reporting a white house release that claims he only has mild symptoms. Based on the lies that have spewed out of the WH the past 4 years, I take it it's quite serious.

"Marine One to take President to Walter Reed Medical Center"

I'm guessing this is standard/precautionary procedure?

Yep. I mean it’s not hard to guess why it’s hit him hard. He’s 74 and obese with other pre-existing conditions.

Pence and Biden both tested neg, but they can test positive later after infection...so not out of the woods yet.

I hope Nancy Pelosi has been put into that safe room from DESIGNATED SURVIVOR somewhere.

Is the voting stuff really so complicated! Even if a dead trump wins wouldn’t that just mean pence as Vice President gets sworn in? I mean it really shouldn’t launch a constitutional crisis?

Correct, and Pence would choose a new VP who would then have to be confirmed by the Senate if he wins because it’s too late to put their name on the ballot.

WH seems concerned he’s deteriorating fast. They are worried, according to Jim Acosta.

And Biden has pulled attack ads and wished him a speedy recovery.

If their roles were reversed I’d guess trump would not be conciliatory...

Kellyanne Conway has it now too. Looks like that rose garden scotus pick thing was a superspreader event.

The president, his wife, his campaign manager, the chair of the GOP, two Republican senators, two senior White House advisers (one on leave), and three White House correspondents. Minimum.

All the stuff the WH is saying about Trump's hospitalization is exactly the same as Downing Street said when Johnson was admitted.

I hope Trump is really enjoying his free healthcare.

I don't care if he dies from it, he's an awful man and I'm not going to pretend I wish him well. I'm trying to run through the reactions of his covid-sceptic supporters with all of the various scenarios on the spectrum of mild illness through to death. The end point I get to in all cases is that they will just blame someone else and want to keep living how they want to live. I think best case is that enough senior WH people and Republicans gets sick enough or have to quarantine that they have to limp along to election day and can't get their Supreme Court pick through. And the dumb shits feel embarrassed by their conduct! I mean welcome to the world the rest of us have been living in since Spring.

The best part of all this has been Claudia Conway’s reporting on her mom, Kellyanne, who was at the superspreader event without a mask. After the Trump news broke, Claudia (a somewhat delinquent teenager) posted on TikTok that her mom was coughing around the house, after having assured them that the event in question would be ok because it was outdoors (and saying something like “masks are stupid”). Then she posted later “update my mom has covid”. Her mom came on Twitter about 15 minutes later to confirm it. And all day George Conway (Never-Trumper and cofounder of the Lincoln Project) was rage-tweeting about the whole thing. He placed most of the blame on Trump obviously but he was definitely subtweeting his wife, who he is usually gracious enough to avoid bashing on Twitter.

They really are. Claudia's antics are the reason why Kellyanne left her job at the White House, but George has been ranting about Trump on Twitter for years now, leading to all sorts of speculation about the dynamics of their marriage. We don't know the details, but it seems apparent that George was forced to agree to back off from his active role at the Lincoln Project and get off Twitter before Kellyanne would quit her job so they could focus on their problem child. So Conway announced his hiatus on August 23, but that did not last long. He came back on September 3 to comment on the Atlantic reporting on what Trump said about people who served in the military ("suckers and losers"), and while it was supposed to be a "one-minute hiatus from hiatus", he just...kept tweeting. And here we are.

PS: uhhh, sorry for the double post. I was responding to a comment that is no longer there.
