'The president's oxygen saturation level was 93 percent at one point[...]

Many medical experts consider patients to have severe Covid-19 if their oxygen levels drop below 94 percent.

[...] doctors also raised the possibility they might discharge the president as early as Monday, shortly after starting him on the steroid therapy, perplexing some experts.

"If you start somebody on steroids because their oxygen saturations are dropping, then that is the time to be vigilant and to be monitoring somebody more closely,"

[...] many sick Covid-19 patients appear to be doing well even when their lung function is poor, a condition doctors have nicknamed "happy hypoxia." [...]

Steroids may also give a false impression of the patient's state. The drugs are also known to affect mood, causing euphoria or a general happiness. Steroids can also disrupt sleep, leading to insomnia, irritability or depression.

In some cases they may cause psychiatric effects, leading to feelings of grandiosity and mania, or even delirium and psychosis.'

One of the attending physicians at Walter Reed tweeted this about the president's dumb-as-rocks drive-by....

Also, can we talk about how everyone else who had COVID (and those that died) had to be turned down by doctors for seeing their family, or really going and doing anything...and this selfish MFer goes on a joy ride around the hospital for political points? I bet you the doctors all told him no, and he just told them to fuck off and made it happen anyways. Because that's the level we're operating on here...

If ANYONE from that car dies or the staff around it, that should be a crime on the part of the president. Hell, just infecting them should be.

If I've not said it loudly enough before. Fuck. This. Clown.

'Secret Service agents denounce Trump's parade

[...] members of the Secret Service voiced escalating concern at what many of the agency's personnel have determined is total disregard for their well-being amid a deadly and highly contagious pandemic. Agents have tested positive for the virus while traveling for the President's political rallies, which he insisted on maintaining even against federal health guidelines. As employees self-quarantine or isolate in place, others have been forced to work longer hours to fill the void.

It's a situation that has prompted growing and more vocal concern.

"That should never have happened," one current Secret Service agent who works on the presidential and first family detail said after Trump's drive-by, adding that those agents who went along for the ride would now be required to quarantine.

"I mean, I wouldn't want to be around them," the agent said, expressing a view that multiple people at the Secret Service also voiced in the wake of Sunday's appearance. "The frustration with how we're treated when it comes to decisions on this illness goes back before this though. We're not disposable."

[...] While agents in the Secret Service have the power to say no to activities that could put a president in danger, they can't say no in situations that could put themselves in danger.

A third agent told CNN: "It was simply reckless." But another sought to downplay the concern.

"I've watched some of the news today and it's ridiculous to say the President is trying to kill off his detail,"' [...]

"That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack," Dr. James P. Phillips, who is affiliated with Walter Reed, tweeted. "The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play."'

https://www.cnn.com/...trip/index.html

Perhaps this is a loyalty test?... He replaced the director of the Secret Service, but I don't think he instituted a purge to replace them all with loyalists?... It's been speculated that the Secret Service would escort Trump out if he refuses to concede (in flagrant violation of the law, at least...). For example:

'Game Four: Narrow Biden Win. The final scenario explored a narrow Biden win where he leads with less than 1% of the popular vote and has a slim lead at 278 electoral votes. The Trump campaign sows chaos but Senate Republicans and the Joint Chiefs of Staff eventually signal that they accept Biden's win. Trump refuses to leave and is removed by the Secret Service.'

https://en.wikipedia...tegrity_Project

'Trump was demanding to return to the White House Sunday[...]

"He is done with the hospital," one of the sources said of Trump's mood yesterday.

Trump is concerned the sight of him being hospitalized "makes him look weak," the other source said.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said earlier this morning that a determination by Trump's doctors as to whether the President would return to the White House would be made later today.'

So this is interesting to note. Mary Trump said that Trump's father and the family in general viewed illness as the weakest thing a person can succumb to, and in the family sickness was treated as a fault to the individual.

It's really strange how much of Fred Trumps mismanagement of his children has such a strong affect on his son all these years later, and how that in turn is affecting an entire country.

Kayleigh has it now. Surprising absolutely no one. Possibly exposing reporters to it...

What’s amazing is she bragged that after testing negative everyday since Thursday I know tested positive. She than claims she had had no contacts that need to be informed.

This boast is the opposite of what she thinks it means. It means testing can clearly let infected people through the cracks. You only test positive when the viral load is high enough. I don’t know the rate of doubling for covid but I assume it’s logarithmic. A person under threshold at t=o could literally be double the threshold an hour later, quadruple the threshold at two hours etc. hence why they tel you to wear the mask!!!

They still won’t own up to this

I'd love to know what Trump supporters would take as a signal that he done's give a flying shit about them, never has, and never will...because so many of them sit over on Facebook and defend ALL his actions like he's some sort of godking...

Does he have to name his horse Consul?

Fucks sake.

Here's an ad Trump's campaign has been spamming:

'This is a really significant development, it is big news[...]
Big ten football is coming back [bigly!]
[Trump:] "I'm the football guy"
[implict message: vote for Trump or there won't be any college football]'

Another ad they're spamming has an out-of-context clip of Biden saying, 'If you elect me, your taxes are going to be raised, not cut'.

'[...] gives the impression that Biden told a crowd that all Americans would have their tax rates raised on his watch.

That's not the case. When Biden said "your taxes are going to be raised, not cut," he wasn't talking about his plan for all taxpayers. He was addressing one person at the February event.

The person indicated that they had benefited from the Republican-led tax bill that became law under President Donald Trump.

The exchange took place after Biden said, "By the way, how many of you did really well with that $1.9 trillion tax cut? Really good shape, right?" The crowd mostly laughed or groaned, but one member of the audience caught Biden's attention off camera by signaling that they benefited.

Addressing that person directly, Biden said: "Well, you did. Well, that's good. I'm glad to see you're doing well already. But guess what, if you elect me, your taxes are going to be raised, not cut, if you benefited from that."

Biden has publicly vowed not to raise taxes for those making less than $400,000 per year.'

[link describes an earlier ad that used the same trick; of course the Trump campaign doesn't care that it's already been debunked by Politifact]

Right? It's insane. And what's worse is how much of the "laws" and "rules" either are just "traditions" and not actual rules that people just held as a standard but can't be enforced legally...or it's laws that as long as the ruling party has enough of the "clout" on the branches of govt they can choose to completely ignore as "law breaking", like the Republican senate.

It's a disaster. The American political, system needs a massive overhaul otherwise this is just going to keep happening and it will get worse.

I would be embarrassed to be talking footbal during a pandemic / recession!

I honestly thought they would lock him for it at the debate.

The football is a stupid symbol for the old way of doing things - with subtexts of white people having fun while black people do work. There's a reason why the NFL is the biggest sports league in the country and why the kneeling thing was so controversial.

Football runs local economies and that's a racist system on the whole, while also being a signifier of "the usual rhythms and routines will return ASAP".
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

When Trump talks about feeling great (Dexamethesone high)...and that people should not worry about COVID...

All I can think of is this:

A humbling (politician) Herman Cain/coronavirus timeline:

6/24: Attends Trump rally, maskless
7/2: Tests positive for Covid-19
7/10: Says he’s improving
7/15: Says his doctors seem happy
7/27: Says he’s really getting better
7/30: Dies

Well, we knew it was going there - "Donald Trump has experience fighting the coronavirus, Joe Biden does not." When the debates pick up again I anticipate this being a point Trump hammers on. Won't be surprised if Pence introduces it Wednesday night.

"Don't be afraid of Covid. Live your life!"

Respectful fear of something that can kill you is part and parcel of being a responsible adult.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Anyone know what Trump's reason is to postpone the Corona relief bill till after the election? I can't see any optics where it doesn't make Biden and the democrats look better than Trump and the republicans.

Best guess I have seen is that being on that course of steroids can cloud your judgement. Not that his was very good to begin with.

Sort of reinforced by his later tweeting that the PPP needs to be extended now.

I thought it was another instance of trying to bribe the electorate. He had a sentence that was something along the lines ‘I’ll pass more stimulus when I win’. The implication I thought was if you want stimulus vote for me.

Seems to have been a spectacularly bad play.

A quick glance reads like, yeah if you vote in the Reps, you'll get a stimulus cheque in the mail.
