Not much opposition on that vote. Maybe Theblindsapper reacted the way he did because we lynched the daddy of PEN? :D

Either way, if the "middling generals" or "second in commands" exist, we got one with Silanah.

Miura Yoshimoto was the son of Miura Yoshiatsu, which would probably make him a 2nd in command type.

Shin, you're the master, btw. Yoshimoto did indeed kill himself by self decapitaiton during the storm of Arai castle. The Hojo did the storming in that situation, which isn't happening in our universe here. I bet Shin just wanted to get that self decapitation bit in their for the S&G's.

People should really do a better job with provisional actions. Waiting for night to time out is boring.

Before I found out you were JLV, you were very close to being on my hit list for next game :apt: The PEN flock will be defended (unless they are on a team opposite of mine... :D )

The numbers will be Uesugi/Takeda 2, Miura 3 and Ashikaga/Fujiwari 4.

The Uesugi and Takeda generals will be compromised as well. It should be safe to say that it'll be between the other 3 clans then. Not that that means the remaining Uesugi or Takeda can't play for personal accolades.

Hey Shin, why don't you leave your night scene here, and I can resolve should Merrid not show up till past midnight your time.

That's what I was thinking of doing. D'rek hasn't PM'd me in over 18 hours....

It is doubtful she'll do much except defend Korlat, so here is the likely scene.
------------------

The wedge of Fujiwari soldiers headed up the valley towards where it widened out into a V shaped plain. Being late to join the formation, Iwakiri Yoshitora pushed his men at a jog in order to make up time. It was there, at a run that his life expired. Although he reacted instinctively to the arrow that pierced his throat, he was already dead from the one that had passed through his heart. As such, he never saw the completion of the skirmish that easily wiped out his outnumbered contingent of men. Nor would he know, in this lifetime, which arrow in his body had flown from the Uesugi, who had swept down from their places on the Western ridge, and which arrow had come from the Miura, who had come round the hillside to the East. Having been given orders to engage with only the Fujiwari, both the Miura and Uesugi soldiers carefully withdrew.

Iwakiri Yoshitora of the Fujiwari (Merrid/D’rek) is dead.

The Takeda, flush with the success of their incursion into Ashikaga territory pushed further, overrunning fortifications and disrupting the Ashikaga courier system. It was after they had put themselves past Mt. Hakone where they met the first major Ashikaga army in opposition, commanded by Ashikaga Yoshiaki. Both sides fought fiercely, believing they could drive the other army before them. In a bold move, Yoshiaki led a brave charge of mounted warriors personally. Takeda spearmen melted under the onslaught of the Ashikaga mounted samurai, and it was later said that it was Yoshiaki himself who struck a near fatal blow to the Takeda leader once he had reached the Takeda command pavilion. The Takeda recovered however, and pushed the Ashikaga back. They withdrew from the field and returned North across the pass. Rumors went that Takeda Nobutsuna was still alive, but could expire at any time. There was much celebration in the camp of the Shogun loyalists that night, and grim satisfaction for many nights to come.

Takeda Nobutsuna (Galayn Lord, Tapper) has been gravely wounded. Although his character is not dead, he is no longer a part of the Chapter 2 scenario.

Hmm, I think I've spotted a big flaw in my setup. I will owe some apologies. I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me, but Spearman get sort of a bunk role compared to others (well, it IS better than RI), but the BS part is they cannot be recruited. I did that while thinking strictly about balance, but it means poor JLV and ansible are now doomed since they cannot even end up on the winning team by recruitment chance. Their only option to win, was to win with their first team. Yes, it's the same for leaders, but they get more cool stuff to do in the meantime.

I like watching Morgy's mind work.

AAAAAH!

Ah well, at least I wasn't the only one to recognize Tapper as a leader with all his talk of five factions and secret alliances. What was he thinking?

Ah well, a second failure, but what does that even mean? Fener voted in step with Tapper so perhaps it simply failed because of our alliance. Or he's a protected role I spose.

Okaros, on 26 January 2012 - 02:55 PM, said:

no wait. Fener accused GL of knowing too much. He was one of the first to draw attention to that on thread. Although that's based on the faction knowing the leader, but if they don't how would anyone dare out someone who very well could be their own?

So not Takeda then. Hmpf.

First Day 3 Action

Karatallid, on 26 January 2012 - 02:58 PM, said:

I attacked Merrid due to GH's potential signal night one, when it looked like he was a leader I thought that Merrid was not on his team but also I didn't get the vibe she was on my team either.

Sorry D'rek, it was down to GH that you died. My next target will be shadow in the day and Sorrit/Liosan at night.

In fact

I know the general, and generals know their leaders? Leaders know their generals, from what i saw with Gaylord and Atrahal?
If i can be switched from one day to the next, without any control, the fuck I care who we lynch, as long as it is not me?AND WHY CANT WE PLAY ONE OF THOSE EPIC GAMES WHERE PLAYERS ARE CALLED JOHN AND HENRY??? I can't keep up with these crazy names :D

He's angry that he has a better chance to win, and that he has a ton more information, I guess. :apt:

Could this be the end of the Takeda leader? Tapper has been targeted a LOT in this game, he may want to review how he plays as a Leader.

Perhaps. like I said in my initial reaction, I seldom do well as a leader. Perhaps it is because I have just too much information at my disposal... I vastly prefer the second violin with a more tactical than strategic role.

If I try to play a really restricted, controlled game, I seldom do well in faction games (I get too confrontational and verbally acidic when called out), so that is not the answer, either. I can maintain it in town versus scum, but nowhere else: I'm too reliant on being present on thread to sound people out and lick my way into various factions, making me think I'm likely to be on their side.

Couple that with the less and less common ability to talk my way out of an accusation at least 51% of the time and give tit for tat on content when verbally targeted, and that makes me very confident and other people nervous. I think part of the reason why I got so many night actions thrown my way is because people don't really dare to challenge me on thread.

Oh, and I love set-up exploring just too much. That too makes people nervous.

Speaking of set-up: this is awesome. Truly awesome. I particular love the conditional double vote.

Not making the killers (General General) unrecruitable was perhaps the one tiny flaw in the game. Don't worry too much. Every game has a loser, and the spearmen are in the same boat as the Daimyo. An isolated daimyo isn't much good either.

Interesting that Sorrit is suddenly so big IN JAPAN.

Sheltatha Lore, on 26 January 2012 - 03:41 PM, said:

OK, Sorrit was defending Liosan. I know my new General is Kessobahn. The numbers per team are quite low (4 each, and one died in each).

So there is, besides me, at max 3 players in my team, fewer if one was recruited away. I would guess only the peons like me can be recruited.

Anyways, all this to say that if Sorrit is my new leader, tough luck. If I can't get Atrahal, I'll get him. Tulas I was harassing for voting Atrahal, but I had my setup wrong, so I have no reason to want him dead anymore.
