Nightwish have just released details of their upcoming album:

Quote

New NIGHTWISH studio album 'HUMAN. :II: NATURE.' to be released on April, 10th! Pre-orders start February 7th!

Tuomas once said that whenever he creates a new record he has the intention of capturing something rare and unique, a monument and a true album experience. In 2020 he's certain to achieve his objective once again. We have completed the recordings for their 9th studio album and are proud to announce the title, artwork and tracklisting. 'HUMAN. :II: NATURE.' will be released on 10th April 2020.

The long-awaited record, following 2015's critically-acclaimed 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful', will be a double album containing 9 tracks on the main CD and one long track, divided into eight chapters on CD 2.

The tracklisting will read as follows:
Disc 1:
01. Music
02. Noise
03. Shoemaker
04. Harvest
05. Pan
06. How's The Heart?
07. Procession
08. Tribal
09. Endlessness

Disc 2:

02. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - The Blue
03. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - The Green
04. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Moors
05. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Aurorae
06. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Quiet As The Snow
07. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Anthropocene (incl. "Hurrian Hymn To Nikkal")
08. All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Ad Astra

So my copies of the new Lovebites album, Electric Pentagram arrived earlier on, all the way from Japan in under 24 hours. I just listened to it for the first time, and holy crap. I mean, I had high expectations for this album, had built up my hopes for it, but it's a long, long time since I've heard anything that has blown me away like this. It's immense, unrelenting, astonishing. Almost too much to take in. I feel like this is what they've been aiming towards all along. Far and away their best album to date.

The UK/international release comes out tomorrow, and it's already available on iTunes, Spotify etc. If you have even a passing interest in Power Metal you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to at least give it a go.

Been listening basically to just Brume, Thou, and Lingua Ignota recently.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.

Got to say, I'm a little underwhelmed at the moment. Hoping it's a grower. I expect it will sink in for me when I hear it in context on the album.

Thinking much the same. It's nice to hear Floor's voice let loose in places but the overall song is a bit.... meh on first listen. Like you say, perhaps it'll be a grower.

I've not been massively impressed with Nightwish for a while. Don't think it's anything to do with the voice I just think they're covering the same ground they've already done.

To be honest, I agree. As a live vehicle they are still very impressive (and moreso with Floor than ever, for me) but in terms of new material... the last album I probably liked most of was Dark Passion Play (Annette's first). Imaginaerium and the last one had good songs but as whole albums were inconsistent.

I keep waiting for something to grab me the way the first time I heard Dark Chest of Wonders did.

Yeah, Dark Chest of Wonders is still my favourite, too. This one just feels a little 'Nightwish-by-numbers' to me at the moment. It's almost as if it's a cast-off from Endless Forms, with the Game of Thrones theme added for good measure.

They haven't done anything that filled me with awe like Ghost Love Score did. That whole album is phenomenal. I also loved Dark Passion Play - The Poet and the Pendulum is a great progressive track.

Would still probably see them live if I got the chance though.

Seeing Floor sing Ghost Love Score is worth the ticket price just by itself. Honestly, it's reduced me to tears both times.

I already lost track/interest after the first couple of albums (Oceanborn and Wishmaster), to be honest. Those filled my symphonic opera metal quota. I'm afraid it is all a bit too sweet for my liking. The pharaoh sails to Orion is still the benchmark for me, so unless they've gone back to some heavier elements on later albums, it all feels a bit samey and too sugar-coated for me.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I'll be honest, for symphonic metal I love Fleshgod Apocalypse so much the others just seem a bit lame in comparison...

Oh well, I've already got my ticket for the Wembley gig later this year so I'l inevitably get the album. In the meantime, back to Lovebites for me.

God, I love Fuki's voice. The whole band's amazing, even if they do look like they all just stepped out of Final Fantasy 15

The new Lovebites single/video, Golden Destination. One of my faves off the album. Lots of footage from their recent UK tour with DragonForce.

Aaaaand my favourite song on the album Posted Image Mind you, I could say that about every song on the album at the moment  I find it impossible not to sing along with the chorus at the top of my voice. Well, apart from when I'm listening to it on the tube 😆
