I've not enjoyed Opeth for years but the tubes I've seen them live they have been excellent.

Yeah, they play a good mixture of old and new. Have to say, I rather like the new album, and that material came over really well last night. They played something off every album from Blackwater Park onwards.

Huh, well I'll be damned (country ham from Alabam). Smack my ass and call me Sally.
So I was watching a countdown show of 'Ghoulish Songs' for Halloween. And Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" was 9th. I didn't know the intro was by someone named Barry Clayton, an English actor. I always though Vincent Price did the intro. Learn something new every day.

I've always liked A Perfect Circle as their best release since the first Tool album.
Coming onto the scene late for Puscifer. Potions is sick.
The band I always regret missing seeing live was Nine Inch Nails. The Perfect Drug is amazing, and Pretty Hate Machine is hands down the most perfect album ever released IMHO.
Marilyn Mansons' The Reflecting God being a tie for the most awesome live song ever along with Type O Negatives cover of Christian Woman.

I'm actually beginning to think "Cosmicism" by atmospheric black metal band THE GREAT OLD ONES could be the best album of this year. So freaking good!

Not so sure about the past decade being the best for metal, but I am quite impressed with the list. These things will never completely match up with personal preferences and the choices are a bit all ofer the shop, but I would say it gives a very decent overall view of the good stuff of the last decade. Always subjective, but I have seen worse lists for sure.

Agreed. Raised eyebrows over Ghost being on there 3 times and of course more popular bands are always going to do well regardless (lots of Maiden/Priest etc.) But yeah nice variety of stuff on there and reminded me of some stuff I wanted to check out.

Yep, scrolled down to see top 20 and saw Ghost way too many times. I knew I didn't need to see anymore.

Makes me feel so oooold. I don't even know most of these bands. On the other hand it's a good list to pick up new stuff.
I think I left my metal days behind in my youth.

My favourite band (Serenity - Austrian power metallers with a penchant for all things history) bring out their new album in January, and the lead single dropped this week:

Ghost aren't even metal. They're literally just spooky Beatles.

Yeah, can't even remember when I last read a Metal Hammer. They were creaming too much on the likes of Lamb of God and Avenged 7-fold and other 'mainstream' offerings. I used to read Terrorizer quite regularly (even had a subscription for a while) but they seem to have disappeared. So that leaves Zero Tolerance.
