so, no hard feelings toward anybody who came up with these questions, but i've just read the relevant bits from gardens of the moon, and paran never even took command of the ninth squad.

when paran first arrives in the city and they bone-conference with dujek:

Paran says, "Very well, High Fist. As far as the present situation is concerned, however, I'd rather Sergeant Whiskeyjack remained in command."

the only other time issues of command come up is during another bone-conference:

Dujek says, "Sergeant, if you want to be in my army, you'd better get used to the new order. First, I'm placing the Bridgeburners under Captain Paran's command."

paran was never the commander of the ninth squad, unless you count taking over the entire bridgeburners regiment.

This isnt one of mine so I cant comment.

I did think however that WJ as sergeant of the 9th was commander or at a stretch Dujek maybe. Im sure GH will be able to tell us more when hes back but you have to give it some leeway. Changing the questions into jeopardy format usually means they sound odd.

Paran's brows rose. "Your commander gambles with his men?"
"Antsy's a sergeant," the woman explained. "Our captain's dead. Anyway, Hedge is not in our squad."
