Lex Luthor-equivalent kills Superman-equivalent (sorta), but not before Superman (Valiant) gets him to swear to protect the world. Quite good and some nice sly digs at DC and Marvel.

A webcomic written by Quentin Tarantino. In his prime and before everyone figured out he's sometimes an asshole.
And imagine that Quentin watched PRIMAL and was so blown away that he paid Genndy Tartakovsky to script and draw the action scenes.
And imagine they both got wildly drunk and stoned during the entire creative process and occasionally paused to play GRAND THEFT AUTO and marathon whole seasons of 80s family sitcoms and sometimes google dinosaur stuff like 'cloacas'.

That first story is full blown nuts. All of it.
And then it gets crazier. SO MUCH CRAZY. I am reading a fucking dinosaur holy war, the dinos are speaking like 90s videogame gangbangers, it is riveting.

And the story writing, the setup/payoff, the long games and call backs... I am on episode #115 and I am in awe of the guy writing AND drawing this. DC swept him up recently to do some online work. They're idiots, they should give him fucking Batman. He'll turn that t-rex in the batcave into the next batmobile and just massacre baddies.

I think my favorite part so far though was when he, Peet, and Dolla helped Mal take her revenge and Darbi faces down the Crocs and nearly shits himself when he realizes they're just babies. Just absolute gold.

Also Peet is clearly the best.

re Dolla. Shit gets wild. And it's rough bcs she is such a great character. I loved her intro... slides into the pit on a banger she just murdered.... "S'up fucks?".

The writer does some brilliant work w all of them. Shay is alternately horrifying and hysterical. Peet is the best but Shay is a beast. And I'm in awe of Smalltoe.

Finished S3 in one looooong 'just one more chapter' marathon.
No spoilers, just raving....The writer is insanely ambitious and the sf/f elements he's weaving in could completely backfire except that he's damn good at this.
It's wild to me that i'm reading a comic, about dinosaurs, fighting, but a large chunk of the reason it's so gripping is because of the way the characters have been developed. An utterly c-list background character steps into a fight and it's HUGE because the main characters i do care about, care about him. There are comics writers and mass published fiction authors who cannot accomplish this.

it almost felt like that the writer 'cheated' in bringing Dolla back to Darbi and co via magic rat mammal blue energy sentient tree portal.
(aside: also loving how every time the Dinos throw down the little rat things feel obliged to 'help' and mostly end up eaten or squished). On the other hand he could have done it a bunch of other ways that would not have been nearly as dramatic, and he did go through the steps of establishing the dino magic and tree and time travel as a thing, and going deep on the scifi and fantasy/magic elements, so ok, we're good here, on w the bloodshed. I knew exactly what was going to happen the second Dolla and Darbi spotted each other,

and it was GLORIOUS.
