When is the release date on this? I agree, it could be anyone, my guess would be Traveller, I just have a hunch.

The sword looks like a rapier. I'm pretty sure Vengeance is a little meatier than that.
If it is a rapier, than Bellam is a good bet.

Like the publishers would care... Same for the cover artist. If that's the only remotely fitting the atmosphere stock image he had, he used it. That's it, never mind who it's supposed to be from the cast of characters.

Is he really so expensive that we don't get ALL the covers of
MBotF worked up by him? these stock photos aren't terrible but
as far as scene and subject matter are concerned I'd expect
a million other incredible options unique to MBotF. Man with
sword stance is just too...generic.

I agree. Within the book itself there would be 100s and 1000s of different scenes or situations to acknowledge in the cover art but no, a guy with sword is all they have. No thought or imagination man

Not just Kormack.. And tbh, I think that yes, Kormack IS that expensive. Illustrators like him can ask for insane payments. And well, he is just that good.
And what I don't like about it is that up to RG Steve Stone actually painted over his photomanips. Yes, he already used the same gradients back then, but he was decent enough to paint it over, which allowed for actual character depictions (okay, you don't have to agree with how Kalam look on the old cover of tBH, but it's undoubtedly Kalam, right?). Now he doesn't even do that anymore, instead he just uses stock images of generic dudes with swords.. And this awful gradient. Every damned time. And not just for the MBotF covers.
It may be just me, but I don't think photomanips and fantasy covers go well together..

agreed. Photomanips and Fantasy just don't mesh well
I'm totally with you on this. Theres a level of realism that stops
being impressive and just starts to feel a bit forced, not contrived but
dissociative with the intention of the author.

Weird. The other Esslemont books have focused on ships. The Erikson books changed so everyone had a single character or object in focus. Now they are mixing thing up. Now if you wanted to jump to conclusions you might guess that Esslemont is now taking over the main storyline of the Empire and the universe. Which means that my guess is that the person in the picture is Ganoes Paran. You heard it here first.

While I would love more Ganoes in the books, I sure hope he didn't start using rapiers now! He fights with cards and brains.
