Well, 'Jhistal' is already a term for a swearword referring to a vagina, so Daru meaning whale isn't that impossible. It makes Crokus Welsh, which is also hilarious.

Yes, done.

On the cover, it's pretty generic but it's not terrible. I'd have much preferred it without the guy in the foreground as the city in the background does look like Darujhistan. Generic covers seem to be a standard in fantasy these days, but the cover is still much better than the majority of the covers for the american malazan books in my opinion.

I for one like this cover.

It's evocative in its way. Stance, apparel, face -- and the backdrop is scenic too.

Summary sounds exciting too. The Seguleh are taking an interest in the Tyrants, and you never really want those fellas getting too close to you.
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

I was thinking TCG at first too. I think that's what distracted me from realizing at first that it wasn't another ship cover.
Say what you want about it being generic, but I'll take it as baby steps of progress from the same basic cover of unrelated ships for 3 books.

I don't see how the ships were unrelated. There was a scene with a ship in NoK, and obviously quite a lot of ships in RotCG, and also in SW

Clouds. Horses. I'm pretty sure they could do a different species of ant every cover and say they were in the scene somewhere... (cape moths for sure they could!)

Not really there was alot of naval action in ICEs book so I think the ship covers are warranted. The opening scene of Nok, the scramble to the ships in ROTCG (with a few others) and ofc the attack on the Marese blockade in SW. I think KS is right in that theyre warranted.
