Mod Question
What do you guys want as far as weekend break?
Some options:
-- Freeze and close the thread completely
-- Freeze the game but leave thread open (no actions can be taken, timer is frozen, but can keep talking)
-- Freeze only the timer (timer stays still, but day actions can still occur; if lynch occurs wait until end of the weekend to resolve it)
-- Run through the weekend
-- Other (make a suggestion)
Let me know what you think would be best or personally support and I'll post tomorrow what the decision will be.

Emur's reaction is doing him no favours, every time I think of gamelon as suspicious himself Emur seems to do or say something that makes it hard to ignore him, he seems to be ruffling people without effectively defending himself which seems strange for day 1, I would feel much less suspicious of him if he just calmly replied to the original accusation but the way he has reacted seems strange and discordant.
hurr
durr
I replied to the original accusation.
it was RP. I wrote "studying to pass ivil official examinations" cuz I was doing homework.
for law school.
"ga,me" was a typo.
"ru,se" and "m,eanas" was sarcasm.
anyhting else I may enlighten you on?
also, I don't suppose I can NOT sound discordant when the time at which i reply there's no one else on.

In answer to mod question, I always prefer letting us finish out whatever phase we are in and resolving that phase. Then holding the timer until monday. ( while still letting us talk but not do actions for the subsequent phase). Just my opinion.

A few people have already pointed this out... And reading back, actually THIS is the first possible signaling attempt? Funny how Serc comes back and accuses Emur on a shady OMGUS vote, when he and Gamelon were doing reach-arounds very very early in game.. And then both jump the signaling gun...

I think this is a bogus post. Just because the [,] and [m] keys are next to each other on the keyboard...justifies nothing. And you seem to have deliberately made the same mistake just to prove that point? And then a deliberate OMGUS vote. None of this sits well with me. The hiding-in-plain-sight thing - trying to downplay things that would otherwise be suspicious by pointing them out, drawing attention to them, or deliberately being obvious about them - well, it's too early in the game for this to get a pass, I think.
Vote Emurlahn
Of course, the other problem right now is that with so many people playing, half of everyone (myself included) has 5 posts or fewer, and so at this point the nail that sticks up tends to get hammered down. Not a lot of other options, though.
It's not as if we have enough time, right? And it's not as if you guys can actually POINT OUT who exactly Emur was signaling, and we can decide if we can actually link that signal with something worth seeing into...
That's bullocks if you ask me.
I could vote for Emur right now, but I am ALL for voting to whom Emur was signaling to, if you can somehow pinpoint it out, maybe?
But right now, you two are getting cozy and quite close, and THAT is more worth looking into..
And since Gamelon pretty much stated he's a Civil Official / Military Official - That makes YOU Serc his Emperor, if he's signaling you with the double voting and the underlying chit-chat of day 1.
So, to make a long story short, can you guys actually come up with a name as to WHO Emur was signaling? If Emur DOES happen to be a Civil Servant / Military Official signaling to his Emperor, then let's try to FIND that Emperor, shall we?
And btw, I think we still have 3 people who haven't checked in yet? Galain, Kessobahn, Tennes.. ?
I'm getting cozy with whom? Gamelon? Fuck Gamelon. Due to his involvement with Emurlahn I see him as the next best target besides Emur. I mentioned earlier that it looked like Game was trying to distance himself from Emur with a vote after their initial interaction. Or did you mean I was getting cozy with Emurlahn? Anyone who thinks there was any interaction between Emurlahn and I needs to reread the thread. My first response and comment to him was followed by a vote on him. Somehow people just started saying, "yeah, those interactions between serc/game/emur!!!" when in reality...the interactions are all between Gamelon and someone else.
I think your problem is you want to find Emur's Emperor and lynch him on day 1. Odds are that isn't going to happen. We have very little info to base a lynch on; it's day 1, that's how it is. The best option is to find the most suspicious interactions, explore them if possible, and lynch someone involved. You even say you're ok with an Emurlahn vote but you'd rather lynch the person he was signaling - great, that's exactly what I said when I voted, so how can you criticize me for following the line of thought you are putting forward? I smell hypocrisy and dissembling.

Haha I was wondering when someone would say that.
Regarding the search for recruiters, I assume we treat them like cultists and hunt for them if we can, so the sentiment is good, if a bit likely to draw attention

Exactly what I was thinking too. Roughly the same can be applied to Gamelon actually, and his signalling accusation. Is it to cover his own signalling?
Emur's trying to shrug off the accusations, although I'm not sure how much else he could do than that. I assume that Gamelon decided, as someone else has deducted, that Emur was a good target to seriously vote for not only because of the signalling thing, but because he'd come to the conclusion that Emur has the same role as him, but obviously for a different faction, so it would be safe to vote for him.

Back, but without a dinner or anything, so I may pop out for that (and beer, as there's a lot happening in town tonight). And unlike all you awesome ladies and distinguished, suave (or bearded) chaps, I look like some weird savage tribal cannibal from Conan The Barbarian, too.
Anyway, on to important stuff. I quite like how there's a 50/50 split emerging on thread at the moment between people against Emur and against Game, and how so far, quite a few people try and mess with the various trains. Those trains are going to be quite, quite interesting in the coming days if they set through to lynch time, especially if we get a CF or two from the current people under fire, and from their early trains. As for a faction game with this amount of numbers, there are quite a lot of opinions floating around, and there are some lines in the sand, as well. Since of the published roles only Emperors and I guess Warlords are known by their subjects, this has quite some potential to be a biggie. Or a complete smokescreen for people to hide behind, which will make things even more interesting.
To illustrate what I'm talking about, look no further than mister Poseidon on steroids: Serc.
Basically, by his recent and rather overly forceful proclamation of denouncing any ties between Gamelon and himself, he's laying the foundations for a vote switch, to which he can refer if Emur comes out as the guy who's not going to get lynched. At the same time, considering he calls Gamelon the second person on his list, he's quite critical of the accusers of his self-proclaimed "almost as much in need of a lynch as Emur" target.... when the difference between him and them is not that he does not consider Game lynch worthy, but just as slightly lower priority. For a day one and a claim of no apparent interest in the survival of either candidate, he sure is opinionated.... Such strong convictions in a faction game where not every single player knows their team mates (even if they know their leader) is somewhat unusual, to my mind.
Likewise, Emur is playing like a bumbling idiot with no sense of self preservation. Which, when you get down to it, is a pretty smart way of self preservation especially if someone a bit more sinister and seemingly more coherent is around and attracting attention. Like Gamelon. And it is fairly easy to seem more sinister and coherent than a dumb motherfucker who's just begging to be lynched by being quite a bit the guy who stabs himself in the foot and cheerfully does the same to his other leg just to avoid having a limp.
Now, personally, like Serc, I don't think symp-chasing in a 21 player thread is ever a good idea or likely to succeed, especially not in a game with so many mechanics, five factions with (most likely) different organization and size, plus a cult. But I do think the trains will be very interesting today, and I think I'm going to add a vote before I go to bed, just to keep some momentum to this whole business.

Oh, and my preference would be a complete freeze. Traditionally, only around 10 posts from perhaps 4 people happen during the weekend, so it's a bit of a hassle to monitor the game as P-S and because so little postage happens, few will be encouraged to add to the post count anyway. With all the administration of this game, I'm sure D'rek can use a quiet day or two. The assumption that a full freeze would serve little me quite well because I'm either too hungover to post or partying too hard to post, is a correct one.

My day has been shit. I'm reading everything, but I really don't have the time or willpower to do any checking of my own.
I'll be around all day tomorrow.
I'm not sure what to make about the Gamelon and Emur right now, but it seems like many day 1 cases.
Serc is interestingly angry. Far more aggressive than he needs to be.
I agree about the Usurper thing, seems dangerous.

I'm been looking at the map, and it strikes me that the Lu and Xia factions have more to fear than Yan at the moment, as they've got the warlords moving down on them, while Yan don't have such a thing. Now, if I was thinking in terms of game balancing, I might suggest that the Usurper could start off in Yan lands.
No one's really talked about moving yet (unsurprisingly, everyone's keeping their cards close to their chest) but I hazard that the 'hub' areas - the ones that join to more than one adjacent area, will see a lot of the action.

I would posit that Yan is also the largest faction. having won their "tale" game, they do not have to worry about the Nanman rebels hitting them from behind.
