Yeah, you're right PG. I don't know where I was mixing that up from. Here's the exact snippet that we've been talking about:

Watched the first 3 episodes last night. Not really sold on this show.

I think it seems really faithful to the book I read years ago, but it's so slow. The show crawls. In a way that is fine, because the show crafts some very powerful scenes but it just takes too long. I think the problem is that I remember too much of what is happening on screen.

Having just finished the book (and thoroughly enjoyed it) I'm now slightly apprehensive about putting this on as I'll be making the inevitable comparisons, and the book will always win.

Still looking forward to seeing what they've done with it though.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I finally watched the third episode. I was worried they would cut out the Djinn scene due to the graphic nature. I am pleased with how it turned out.

This show is 3 for 3 in filming hella erotic sex scenes without it being even remotely exploitative or tacky (e.g. GoT's early season sexposition scenes). That was seriously badass. I don't actually remember that much from the book, so a lot of this isn't registering that way for me, but I think so far each episode has been better than the one before it.

I'm behind everyone on this, as I just finished the 2nd episode. That Orlando Jones opening was excellent. And then the ending checkers with Peter Stormare topped off another top notch episode (you really can't go wrong when Peter Stormare appears on your screen). Looking forward to watching the third episode before next week some time (I hope).

Interestingly, this was my least favorite episode so far.

It wasn't badly made or anything of the sort, but Wednesday is the character that carries the show (and book). Without him, half the fun is gone.

Furthermore, I was promised Jesus but nothing was delivered.

This last episode was a trip.

I mean I never read the book but i like the show intensely so far, that viking Vignette was epic from start to finish. So much poignant imagery in such a short piece of acting. Anansi is a storyteller, I had a vague knowledge of him from african folklore. When Omar Jones said "let me tell you a story" I knew, I knew! This was going to be awesome, evocative, aggressive. It was the scene I wanted even before I knew I wanted it. My brother commented on how the Vignettes did more in a few minutes than some series do in a whole season. I wouldn't go that far but theres so much depth there... :wallbash:

I Particularly liked the fourth episode. It tied the thirds opening scene to the seconds last scene which now makes for some nice story behind the connections. Theres a ton of expectation for the next episode and I'm tempted to buy the book just to go find out! Laura was a bit broken, falling in love put it on hold but she was always in a bad way. I like any plot that doesnt sell love as a cure. No one can fix your problems if you arent interested in fixing em yourself.

In all It feels like the Genius behind Neil Gaiman book is well realized by Fuller and Green. Direction team is top notch aswell. And the acting is very very well considered. Theres so much good brought into the series.

Mother of all that is holy.

This episode was superb. I can't understand how a show can have so many awesome actors in a single episode. Mr. World, Media, Justin Bieber Guy, Mad Sweeney, freakin' Laura ...

As BK said, I didn't move an inch the entire episode.

This show is completely insane. It has me riveted, mystified, horrified and laughing almost all at the same time. I can't think of the last time a show/movie made me want to read the book that inspired it this badly. If I could find any time for reading these days. I've seen little to no complaining by those on the thread that have read the book(s) and that's saying something by itself, to me. Ian McShane is brilliant, as he usually is. The 7 foot leprechaun steals every scene he's in. Gillian Anderson must be having the time of her life! And now Crispin Glover too! Can't wait to see where it goes!

Thought it was a great episode for the leprechaun, and the new American mythos for Vulcan was on point. Every shot a prayer, the power of blood sacrifice. The way it actually tied back to Mexican Jesus. In America, Vulcan ain't "starving for a taste of honey" -- no kidding. America is already cursed by this stuff, so it makes me wonder what Wednesday's curse will do.

I must say I'm loving this show. It's so long since I read the novel that I can't remember exactly how things play out, so it's been a real trip so far. A shame there's only 2 more episodes in season 1 (8 in total).

I don't remember the book too well but there's a whole section (my favorite, actually) set in a mysterious & creepy town that hasn't been touched on in the show at all yet, so I don't expect the season to finish the book.

I did a quick check on the wiki page and it would appear that there will be at the very least 2 seasons, and Gaiman himself has mentioned that the creepy town you're think about Worry, will be covered in season 2. Apparently season 1 will only cover about the first third of the novel.

As much as i'm loving it so far, I really do hope that they keep it to 3 seasons, unless adding in material from Anansi Boys, and maybe some other stuff Gaiman has in mind for this universe can spread it out to 4 without tearing the ass out of it. I'm really amazed at how little i remember of it, absolutely no clue as to what happens to the vast majority of the characters we've seen so far, which is great. I get the familiarity of a story that i know i enjoyed, but it's still been full of surprises (and I'm loving how stylised the adaptation is).
