I disagree about ZLS. That show was fun all the way through for me.
Boogiepop episode one was very slow but episodes 2 and 3 have gotten kind of interesting.
Despite how slow the season looked from before it started, I've still wound up with ten shows.

Anybody else watch Gokudols on Netflix? I've gotten so behind on my anime/manga, that's the only thing I've watched lately but I find it so hilarious. Definitely low budget but the comedy makes up for it.

I'm up to ep4/5 or so. It's pretty funny.
I've got quite a long list of shows this seasons, which is nice given how slow a season it actually looked at first. Probably ten or so.
Also just finished Castlevania. That was great, although Carmilla was one of the most annoying, shallowly-written characters I've seen in a long time.

I don't usually post in here but I watched the first ep of Dororo (2019) on a recommendation. Pretty good, but that bleak cold open followed by one of the worst theme songs I've ever heard was a real trip.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Wow, been a while, okay Winter 2019 underway time.
SAO:Alice -- I dare say this show has gotten really boring. The fights are bland, and every non-fight scene are these suuuuper long-winded monologues or asinine back-and-forth conversations that go nowhere. Or, worse, there'll be long-winded conversations in the middle of the dang fights. And none of it seems to make a whole lot of sense. Kirito does remember his outside-of-the-game life but doesn't know what happened to him or why he's here... and yet he seems to feel no desire or urgency in getting out of this game. Wouldn't you rather go back to your wife than spend 2 years at a stupid school? And the villain motivations are bananas... why is that one knight ashamed of being a woman when her stronger direct superior knight and pope boss are also women and no one seems to have an issue with it? I don't get this.
Promised Neverland -- holy balls I love how this is going with the mind games and the planning instead of them just plunging straight into the escape. Krone is terrifying. Mom is terrifying in a completely different way. Every late-night first-person-perspective shot they do feels like it'll have the biggest sudden jump scare and even though they never do it's still terrifying the next time. The latest episode 4 cliffhanger is OMG WHAT THE HELL THAT MAKES WAY TOO MUCH SENSE AAAAGGGGHHHHH I love it
Dororo -- really enjoying this show. It's kind of sedate and routine in pace, which threatens to be bleak as hell given how horrible the world around them is. It feels like the show will change a lot and soon, though, given the inevitable next things Hyakkimaru will probably get back, and how those will probably "nerf" how easily he keeps winning so far. And there's some pretty obvious setups for some big drama in the finale like with his brother, so the anticipation is high.
Love is War -- I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this one. The premise sounds like it'd be not that great and/or get old fast, but so far (4 episodes) it's been pretty fresh and funny. I don't want to over-praise it, it is after all mostly based on the typical over-react-to-everything humour base, but I do think it's better than most of those sorts of comedy shows.
Boogiepop -- dropped for boringness
Mysteria Friends -- watched the first episode, and it was somewhat cute/interesting, but haven't seen any more of it yet.
Egao no Daiko -- Only watched the first half of the first episode and it was really boring / seen-it-all-before. Wouldn't recommend.
Slime -- Still going well. Kinda slow sometimes, but in a charming/laid back way. Seems like it's in the build-up phase towards the next big antagonist.

Dororo is great. I like Hyakkimaru. there's a lot going on with him. the subtleness to his actions plays well off Dorororrororororos childish bravado.
I do not think its hit its stride just yet. I am loving it though. As you say, lots of plot points to anticipate.
The Shield Hero....I like it better than Goblin Slayer and Slime...
for an Isekai it's taken a route both hard and gritty ala Goblin Slayer but also deep and immersive ala Slime.
I hope it keeps it up.

Current seasonal watches:
SAO: Fluffy flutter, enjoyable enough but no dancing around that it still can't escape the nagging core issues it's always had
Slime: Slowed down a bit, seems like the next antagonist will introduce some peril.
JoJo: Gotten really good now the story is swinging into gear. The localised Stand names are dumb.
Price of Smiles: Seemed like it'd be fluffy at first, dove straight into wartime PTSD. Nice.
Boogiepop: Continues to be intriguing in a weird way.
Shield Hero: This is highly enjoyable, although I wish the main antagonist was a bit less 2D.
Wataten!: Fluffy flutter. Enjoyable moeblob.
My Roommate is a Cat: Oh god this is just the fucking beeeeeeeeeeeeeeest
Girly Air Force: Flutter for the most part but feels like it'll delve into the "what are we fighting for" android thought process.
Promised Neverland: Ah, tricks and traps. Puzzles and locks the likes of which that a mewling infant such as you couldn't hope to pass...
Quntessential Quintuplets: Again, flutter, but a different spin on the generic harem genre.
Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka: I love me some mahout shoujo suffering and this delivers in spades.
Grimms Notes: Flutter, but again enjoyable enough.
Kaguya-sama: Surprisingly high tier. Chika is the font of all memes this season.
Endro!: Fantasy style, like D&D going wrong but in a charming way.
Ace Attorney: I mean look at my job of COURSE I'm watching this.
Mysteria Friends: Short episodes, seems fun enough.
Domestic Girlfriend: Interesting concept, explores some pretty uncomfortable issues too.
Pastel Memories: yet MORE flutter, but again I'm cool with that.

Spoilers Dorororo:
I started a watch of a Place further than the Universe again. I really like it.so relatable it hurts.
Shield Hero: Another good episode. I am not sure I like that Filo turned into what she did but I like her attitude in the race and the inclusion of the faux Secret service.
Run With The Wind It was a tense episode. I loved it. I hate running so much it hurts but as I watch this show I start to think about it more and more.

I just watched the voyage episode. They got sea sick. I've never gotten motion sickness before but I assume it's similar to that feeling you get at take off? just all the time...
That would really suck.
I love the characterizations. My favourite character has shifted per episode which is a strange feeling. Haven't felt this way about a shows cast since Baccano.

I think it's more of a persistent vertigous nausea, less of the "heart in throat" feeling from a lift-off. Either way, sucky.
And agreed, it's a great cast dynamic, though much smaller in scale than Baccano. The four leads mesh really well together without any falling entirely into a single "role" of the group, it feels really natural.

I guess she is still scared of Mother in some ways, so is being overcautious about going against her? Or maybe she just wants to get more information from the protagonists so she has even more of an ironclad case when she turns it all in.
Then again, some of the previous episode cliffhangers have been faked out. Maybe she'll do exactly what we expect at the start of next...

Not quite anime related but D'rek, Gakkou Gurashi! issue ten just released in English, and issue twelve will be the last one. I don't feel like we're gonna get a season two to end the story so you might want to get in on this.

I am seriously behind on my anime.
Can someone name me three must watch shows that are from 2016 onwards.
I generally enjoy over the top action animes.

Uhhhhhh, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure seasons 4 and 5 - season 1 was 2012 iirc and season 2 2014, relatively long at maybe 150 episodes? Very OTT and very fun. Season 1 is kind of slow until you get to Battle Tendency and then it gets really wacky.
Akame ga Kill! was great fun. Can't remember what year it was though.
Attack on Titan is another big ticket and S3P2 is due to drop in about a month.

Oh, there will definitely never be a season 2. Not sure if I will ever go back and read it, but if I do it'll probably be when they're all out in English and I can binge through it all in 1 weekend.

Well, the penultimate issue is out in JP now. English release schedule is usually one volume per 6 months, so expect it to be finished by early 2020.
