Ok, I have watched AoT up to episode 7

Is it just me, or when Eren had the sudden weird flashback to his dad injecting him forcefully, that when he woke up he suddenly had the basement key, but his dad had had it before? Speaking of, how come they never mention his dad? Wasn't his dad away during the attack on their hometown? They never tried to reconnect with him in the 5 years since?

When we first had the weird sudden injection dream I suspect there was some sort of psychic time travel like thing going on to make them all not remember he didn't have the key before. Now I am wondering if maybe it is an event that has been skipped in one of the jumps forward in time and will be flashed back to later...? Confuzzling for sure!

In other news; the Black Rock Shooter OVA is...not a patch on the series. I kinda figured, seeing as the series was more-or-less the revamped, polished, full-polish edition of the idea, while the OVA was more of a off-the-cuff "see how it does" kind of deal, but still, moderately disappointing, I guess. It was decent enough but the story could have used another half hour and a bit more extrapolation (while the series is the good kind of "WTF is going on?!", the OVA was more of the "Uhm...so...wait, what?" kind). Ah well, had to watch it. Makes me want to rewatch the series, though.

This is the one where Eren's dad has a syringe. In-between Eren yelling "No Stop!" and stuff like that, he says "You've been acting all crazy ever since mom died!"

So that seems pretty indicative that pappa-Jaegar caught up with them at some point after the first attack on their hometown. Whether they've (had) blocked their memories, or just aren't talking about what happened, not sure..

Now that we know about Erens double life as a Titan I feel the plots really opening up. Its clear in my mind that the good doc daddy has been up to some awesome experiments. Also anyone else getting a bad feeling about the part from which Eren popped out from?

Like the titans are controlled by humans and to kill the titan you have to kill the human "driver." However, that doesn't really work because most titans behave like zombies though it could explain the colossal and armored titans.

But Eren was a different titan than the one he was eaten by. And a single titan eats numerous people.

Just watched up to Ep 7 (8 is still set to premium til Saturday), and I am still loving this show!

Also, when was the last anime show you watched where the score within each ep was this varied and gorgeous?! I mean hell, it can be sad, uplifting, soaring, haunting, triumphant....like whoever is the composer for this show...man I'd like to shake their hand. It's a job, well fucking done!

As Baco points out though, it's not the same look as the one who ate Eren, so presumably after a titan eats you it poops you out as a new titan or something. They did say before, after all, that they don't know how titans reproduce...

I don't know how to reconcile the HOW of Eren "being" the super badass titan...It LOOKED (when he came out of it) that he was FUSED into the flesh at the neck...add that to the fact that in the first two Titan attacks, there was this "exhaust" that seems to geyser out of the mouth...it didn't seem like breath, so I always got a "pilot" vibe. So my guess is the reason MOST of the titans (the dopey ones)...being manipulated by humans, but maybe zombie ones or something? So far, other than Eren's Titan, the only ones we've seen who 1) don't have that dopey smile and 2) have a purpose beyond blind destruction and eating humans in half....are the giant titan from the first ep...and the wallbreaker, armor plated one. So yeah, the pilot thing works, but there's variations...hmmmm...lots to ponder!

Yup. I'm guessing that the host person will be what determines a lot about the titans - most people just become full retard titans with the dopey smile and do nothing but shamble and eat people, but the "abnormals" like the jumping titan have particularly strong-willed or bizarre human hosts. I don't think pilot is necessarily a good word for it though, as other than Eren who influenced/controlled his titan though either sheer will or bizarre injections, I doubt most titans are "controlled" by the human hosts within them. The Colossal and Armoured titans will of course be something special.

They geyser effects, I thought regular titans had them to some extent when they got hot, just not as much as the colossal?

Geyser-effect wolverine-type healing seems to happen to any titan. The two special Titans at the beginning of the show were highly specialized and operated with a purpose, the huge cloud of steam I suspect comes from fast regeneration into Titan mode, also I am starting to think the "sudden arrivals" as probably just a simplification of going Titan. could be wrong, see no reason for a Titan not to have special powers. I mean if they can have armour why not the ability to Teleport?

That aside I have an alternate theory to the Titan poopy idea. I think there's something in titan blood that affects humans and brings on the change. What else could the good doc be injecting into kids? maybe if a person eats a titan they become one? Like reverse cannibalism?

It's kind of cool to watch a few different shows, find that I like certain ones, look up the directors and writers and find that they have common projects in between them. I can follow people and see how they branch off or colloaborate, instead of just randomly picking shows and hoping something is good.

The most recent example is the people behind the company "Trigger" like Hiroyuki Imaishi, they've worked on FLCL, the Evangelion movies and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (what I'm watching now, it's a demented, adult version of Powerpuff Girls basically).
