Got the Assassin Rogue. So far he is cool. Booted Lelliane right the fuck back to camp, that dull, better than thou, goody two shoes, little... I really hate most of the characters in this game.

I have to say, as interesting as it is to play a Bioware fantasy game, this entire game seems off. Maybe it's just the difference 6 years make, but in terms of game design, processing power, writing, mocap and voice acting, etc. Dragon Age: Origins seems decidedly underwhelming. Or maybe just old. It hasn't aged well in my opinion.

Maybe that's because I enjoyed Mass Effect so much. Maybe it's just unfair that I have been playing Witcher 3 just recently.

Still, so far, the choices you have to make are pretty heavy. The whole circle/chantry/blood mage business seems very heavy handed and lacks nuance, but it is enjoyable. I wonder about the whole racial aspect, so far it hasn't really reared its head much. Maybe that's just because I am playing a white, male, human so my character doesn't even notice the racism.

DA plays with a few neat concepts (such as Templars v Mages- drug-addict witch hunters vs. Potential daemon-bombs), but really, Origins pulls it's punches as far as dilemmas go. The Mages tower can be solved so that everyone is happy. By going to mage tower you can get a "happily ever after" in Redcliff (though the character log has a bug regarding that). In the other "choices", you go back to "obviously good" and "obviously evil" choices.

My understanding is, it gets much more uncompromising in DA2.

EDIT: one of the cooler little things in DA:O is that bypicking certain lines in during the companions' personal quests, you can actually "corrupt" the most "good" chars. (Leliana, Alistair) to be more human and selfish.

Never quite got the "dilemma" part in DA2 and the whole mage/templar conflict - Blondie made sure I was completely sure which side turned out to be right all along.

I got Shale. She/It is great. She's sort of a more charming version of Alister and a less annoying version of Morrigan mixed into one. I have yet to figure out what the deal is with her "masters" murder.

I am curious about all these demons I have been encountering. If you choose to make deals with them in exchange for power/favors, does it come back to bite you in the ass? So far I have been negotiating with them and then fucking them over in the end and murderizing them.

Currently I am rocking a team of Alister, Shale and Wynne. 3 warriors and a mage works pretty well in most situations. It helps that I am playing on easy of course.

Currently in the Dwarven city. This game sure did borrow a lot of inspiration from WOW, not really a fair accusation, I know, but everything from item slots, to money, to environments and interiors really remind me of Warcraft.

Human noble cunning-based rogue With high stealth and a mean disposition, combined with a healing/stun based Morrigan (I think...), Shale and a hardened Leliana. Worked beautifully. Actually, the archery tree was pretty absurd in how much single target damage it could do.

Rogue scouts, sneaks to the back. Leliana use a mass damage shot to instant kill the mage. The rogue kills the chieftain or whatever. Shale draws all the minions and Morrigan keeps control of any unforseen circumstances.

If you're playing Director's Cut (the one with the re-do boss battles) then easiest way is to run away and hack some turrets to murder him to death.

Well, even I you didn't roll a mage having Morrigain spec as an Arcane Warrior was CLEARLY the most rational thing to do.

Don't got a taser - CR, 10mm, revolver and shotty. Granted the revolver and shotty only have 3 rounds a pop. 4 grenades.

When I played on the PC you could just hide in one of the alcoves behind the crate and he'd blow himself up with grenades. This time? Naw. On 360 that shit don't fly.

I honestly would force feed whoever designed those bosses a plate of roasted dicks. The rest of the game is so good, and then it's let down by outsourcing.
