I honestly would force feed whoever designed those bosses a plate of roasted dicks. The rest of the game is so good, and then it's let down by outsourcing.


but, but the outsourcing guys worked SO HARD to make it fun no matter how the player wants to approach it! whether he'd use a shotgun, or an assault rifle, the boss battles were supposed to be equally fun!

Did I mention that when I first saw that video interview I nearly threw up a little?

At least the Dev had the decency to apologise for them. The other three were irritating but manageable, but Barrett? He is literally a robot made of cock, especially for a stealth build.

Yeah, right before you face Fedorova, there's a side room with a minigun I used that for all the other bosses.

But Barrett in the non-Director's cut is pretty impossible for a stealthy player.

I'm pretty sure the version I have on 360 is the non-DC.

Restarted anyway, because when I played on PC it was almost full stealth. This time I'll try the meaty approach - shotgun, revolver and 10mm, with the shotty and revolver getting stuff like AP mods etc.

Is there any way to track the amount of hours I spent on a game without adding I to Steam?

I'm genuinely curious as to how much time I've played Wild Hunt, given I feel i've barely scratched the surface, an i'm pretty sure i'd i'd at about 50 hours if not mor by now.

If you check Witcher 3s own stats menu I believe it is actually relatively precise. It seemed to fit with GOGs own launchers estimate.

Anyway, I finished Dragon Age: Origins. I am happy I played through it but it has not aged well, at least I assume it hasn't aged well. Everything about that game seems more clunky and outdated than I was expecting. The strangest thing about the game I think is how it mirrors Mass Effect.

I don't recall anybody ever criticizing this feature but it's impossible to not see the similarities between Mass Effect and Dragon Ages story structure, the collection of support and ressources, finding companions and gaining their loyalty, etc. Dragon Age and Mass Effect seem to be Biowares version of Blizzards Warcraft and Starcraft. Very similar, just different ages.

The game seemed to sort of have an aneurysm towards the end, not sure if it is the game itself or just my copy, but saves were getting weird. At the ending, the queen was mourning the death of Alistair, even as he was standing next to her, the brother of my character showed up out of nowhere and the game thought my male character was female.

I am considering what to play next. Dragon Age Origins: Awakening or just go on to Dragon Age 2? I heard that Awakening is important to the story of the third game so I suspect I probably want to play it.

About the only thing I dislike about it (still) is vehicle control. I'll let Kat drive instead. She won't skid into a lake.

Lol, I don't like the mongoose handling, but the 'hog is fantastic in a silly way. I'm pretty good at it until I go airborne then it's likely that I'll land face-first in a wall. XD

DA:O was released years post-ME, as they were working in full swing on ME2. It's not surprising they adopted same model (which later came to be known as "Bioware-style RPG".

Yeah, DA:O had a thing about a memory leak with too many saves, I believe. Only instance of such mistakes I had was relatively early on, when

oh, and you should absolutely play Awakening. It has a somewhat less conventional story, and interesting strategic management bits, since you're now running a Grey Warden keep and the surrounding areas.

You'll notice that Bioware RPGs have been like that for a while. Look at KOTOR - very similar indeed to both ME and DA:O. It also follows the Bioware standard 'do three things, then some bad juju happens what you get to fix like' central mission structures.

the whole "visit x places before confronting the Big Bad @ Y" has been a staple of "Western RPGs since Baldur's Gate if I understood correctly (neve played either. Need to find the time to correct that gap). Incidentally, Bioware made Baldur' Gate. They followed same basic premise in Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Mass Effect, and DA.
The thing I think Apt is referring to is the "companion" mechanics, which is something that Bioware really onlyy made super-big post-Mass Effect.

Ah, fair point. Yeah, I'd agree with the RPG elements thing, although it does seem much more prevalent in Bioware games like those you listed. Granted, I've not played as many WRPGs as I have JRPGs...

If you think Origins was mirroring ME1, just wait until DA2. It's like they tried to make a fantasy Shepard. And failed.

In any case, I loved Origins. What you'd call clunky I'd call oldschool. It's a way more tactical and RPG-centered game than other BioWare games, with much more depending on how you play out the battles and, most of all, build your party.

Play Awakening before DA2. I also strongly recommend playing through Golems of Amgarrak DLC, preferably on Nightmare difficulty. It's great fun.
Also, do play Witch Hunt.

Already played through Witch Hunt. Felt like a cut out epilogue.

DA Origins ending spoilers:

I am playing Awakening now. In fact I am probably some 5 hours in already. It's better than Origins, in that the concept is more refined. The characters also don't annoy me as much, I almost like Oghren now.

I seem to have accidentally pissed off the guard in the capital city so now they're all talking shit when I walk in to town. Sort of annoying since I try to play a good guy character. I think it is because I murdered some moonshine distillers.

Only way NOT to piss them off is to murder all smugglers on sight. Even before you get the quest to deal with smugglers.
