Just started up Assassins Creed Rogue. Had to do a double take at the music on the title screen. I think variations of this has been in all the games but this is the first time it really struck me. Like this is Halo's choir music levels of good.

Dying Light, Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
Dying Light is good but a bit flawed in the weapon balance and the parkour isn't the most fluid system to control. But pretty awesome zombie killing fun in an open world with co-op, which is always a plus for me.
DBX is awesome. It's not a great fighting game, but it's fun to play and is very good with the setting. Some people complain that it's not skill-based enough as your characters stats dictate the difficulty of most fights rather than your skill at the game. While this isn't ideal, I wonder if those people complaining about the RPG elements ever... Uhm.. Watched the shows? Getting beaten because you weren't strong enough - not skill, strength - and going away to train to get more powerful was pretty much the basic premise. In other words; it's not the ultimate fighting game, but it just might be the ultimate DBZ game. Especially with the create-a-character which is awesome. In terms of sheer fun factor, this is probably the best game I've played on Xbox One (so most dumb fun of the past year, basically).

I finished Shadowrun Returns a couple of weeks ago and was planning on going back to play XCOM: Enemy Within again when I saw that Xenonauts was on sale on Steam. Been meaning to get it for ages and it was impossible to pass by for £9. So I bought it, and now I'm completely addicted. Much as I loved the Firaxis Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within games, they didn't quite scratch the itch I had for the original X-COM (hyphenated!) games, i.e. UFO Enemy Unknown (as it was called in the UK) and X-COM Terror from the Deep. Xenonauts is definitely fitting the bill, though. I lost most of last weekend to it, which hasn't happened to me with a game for years.
Also picked up Wasteland 2 half price on Steam last weekend, although I won't be going anywhere near that until I've finished Xenonauts.

I'm playing Tomb Raider (2013) at present. Good overall, even if the control scheme has a habit of trying to kill you.

I really need to play Xenonauts. It's been sitting on my GOG shelf for ages.
I've been insanely busy with work and life, so very little gaming for me. When I can steal a half hour or more, I make some gains in my Dawn of War: Soulstorm campaign (modded for persistent bases: the mod only half-works, as I have to rebuild my defences when starting a play session, but they last throughout, so repeat defence missions get progressively easier.
Since I hooked up a new Mobo and can now run my shiny FX 8350, I want to get back to something more demanding, but I face 2 problems:
1) the aforementioned lack of time.
2) the stock cooler on the 8350 makes an unbearable amount of noise. Even on low intensity tasks (like using Page Down to scroll through a 500+ page PDF is roars like a lion in heat. Despite this, when I tried running Witcher 2 on it, I got a min thermal margin of 22.5 degrees, and 18 when running Arkham origins. Which means i'm safe in terms of the system carching fire (though I did start to turn it off at night, because the noise), but I'm still terrified the fan propeller will spin so hard it'll fly off its bearings and go on a mad rampage inside the case.
I HAVee a different cooler, but I've been unable to ascertain if it's any better, and I don't feel like spending time purely experimenting.

I bought Guild Wars 2 because it was cheap. Took me forever to make a female human that didn't look like a Japanese sex doll.

I've ordered Bloodborne.
The only problem is.. am I going to finish DA Inquisition before the 27th? I've just completed the whole Ballroom mission, I'm kind of hoping there's not much left of the main story.

Currently playing Borderlands The Pre-sequal, which is very fun but this is getting shellved as Bioshock Infinite is the second Game With Gold this month and I will be binging on this as i couldnt buy it at release.
This months GWG has been very good with the new Tomb Raider first half of the Month and Bioshochk second half. Hopefully M$ have got their finger out and will keep the calibre up.

Well that didn't take long. One quick trip to an altar, and then a battle with Corypheus that seemed to last about 15 minutes. With no death among my party, what's that about? I guess the journey is the fun part anyway.
(Was funny to see all the characters that I didn't use as they were too annoying pop out of the woodwork at the end to claim some credit. )

How is Infinite by comparison to the first Bioshock? I ask because I personally found Bioshock 1 to be utterly underwhelming.

It's better. Not by a large margin, but it is. However, I don't think it lives up to its reputation.
Granted, I haven't played Burial At Sea.

I thought Bioshock Infinite was great. Not perfect by any means but an impressive exploration into what you can do when a theme and a story dictates every part of the game worlds design.
It's not an amazing shooter but it's fast and agile when you combine the magical powers and the skyrail. The game is overly long and the story is drawn out but the beginning and end is very interesting. Personally I thought the "end" was non-sense but the Burial at Sea episodes manage to make sense of it.
The opening couple of hours of Bioshock Infinite alone were worth 20 dollars.

The Burial at Sea DLC is some of the best added content to any title. It's required playing imo.

Speaking of Wolfenstein. I am really excited for the Old Blood "prequel" DLC they are releasing in a couple months. More castle and less future dystopia is going to interesting.

I've been playing Dying Light.
This game is much better than I dared hope. It's basically all the things that Dead Island failed at. The parkour is next to none I feel. The combat is still a bit too basic but you have so many other tools at your disposal. The character animation and dialogue is better, the story makes more sense, the character is pretty generic but remains sympathetic by showing him react somewhat realistically to the things he's asked to do.
I've put over 10 hours into the game yet it claims I am still only 12% into the game. Seems to be a lot of meat on these bones. I have yet to bother with night time adventuring. I am too scared of the hunting zombies. They freak me the fuck out. Maybe when I am stronger.

Wait until you go out at night for the first time (you're going to have to eventually), man, it's some scary shit. It's worth it though because your xp goes up much faster for eluding and fighting zombies (you can kill), etc.
Yep, Dying Light improves a lot of what was wrong with Dead Island. And man, the side quests are so much fun and not repetitive like Dead Island. I would even say doing the side quests are more fun and interesting then the story quests. The weapons are a lot better then in Dead Island too. You can only repair them 3 or 4 times but there's actually a good variety and the mods you get from the blueprints you find or are awarded with are awesome. There's nothing more satisfying then throwing water on a zombie and then hitting them with a weapon with a electrifying mod (dido with lighter fluid and fire mod weapon). Try to find the Korek Machete, it is one of the best weapons in the game. Also, unlike Dead Island, the guns in Dying Light actually have some punch and do some powerful damage. I've pretty much completed all of the side quests and am working on completing the story missions.
