Yeah, not planning to do that right away. I want to get back to some of Arcane's imsims and play the original DMC games.
I should also finish Warrior Within, but I managed to get to the final confrontation without picking up a single health upgrade (!) so i'm kinda screwed now. I'd have to either replay large chunks of the game, or try to grind out the impossible (not really, but requiring razor-precise timing and pattern recognition and repetitive hit and dodge tactic) boss fight, which does not really sound alluring.
That being said, if there a cheap-ish GOTY pack for the holidays on Fanatical, I'll probably grab Shadow of War, because killing dozens of Orcs is more cathartic than knocking henchmen out in any àrkham game (though combat mechanics are quite similar)

Finished Shadow of War. The last boss was pretty tough IMO but overall a good fun game. My favourite bits were definitely the fortress attacks. For anyone considering playing it, I would recommend doing a whol bunch of the main missions before setting out to explore yourself first. Purely because you get some cool powers unlocked just through story missions without having to use skill points on the tree.
As I mentioned earlier there was nothing too outstanding that was different from the first game but if you enjoyed that you will no doubt enjoy this one, though I have to say I think the first was better just as an overall gaming experience.
As for now... Well I am not starting any new games, despite AC Odyssey coming out last week. My baby will be here in less than two months and I'll not have any time for computer games after that. It was fun while it lasted.

I've got two games on the go: Xenoblade Chronicles on pc, and Bravely Default on 3DS. Both JRPGs but very different from each other. Enjoying both immensely at the moment.

I'm at that near-zen point in Shadow of Mordor, where Talion is just owning everyone. Played both Fri and Saturday evenings after coming home from drinking, and been just shredding those captains.
Yesterday after soccer killed the 3rd Warchief. He showed up with a bunch of goons all swagger-like. I ran away a bit, watched him come down a ladder and as he was about to charge me, I shot an arrow past him, to bust open a Caragor from a cage, instantly reducing him to a gibberish, cowardly wreck.
Only one Warchief to go, but now I also unlocked more of those rescue missions. They feel like busywork, tbh, but I guess I can use the currency.
Oh, and my protégé Mogg the Crow died! I was very sad, because he got killed in a duel.
Another Defender captain tried REALLY hard to become my Nemesis- Amug the Hungry came back from death maybe 4 times. I executed him, had a Caragor maul him, and executed him some more. Each time he'd come back with progressively bigger part of his face covered in metal, but he just refused to die! For a while at least.
I'm stuck on a Hunting challenge, b/c I can't seem to find any bats. It's a bit annoying.

There is an achievement in SOM that is thus: allow a normal every day orc of no standing to kill you numerous times til he becomes warchief (as they get promoted each time they kill you) then kill him. It's pretty good fun and a nice way to distract yourself for a bit because they get cockier and tougher each time you die.
Also re: hunting challenge, I think bats are usually high up. Try getting high somewhere then use wraith vision. If not there are a couple of glitches (at least on PS4 there was) where sometimes you can't find something and if you die it resets stuff and suddenly you'll find them. For example I was looking to get 100% hunting challenges on my second play through and the last one could not be found anywhere. I ended up googling it and it was just not there. So I went and got myself killed and went back and it was there.
Forwarding time might also do this.

First I want the achievement for killing 5 Warchief w/o anyone getting promoted to their rank.
I know there should be bats in caves, but haven't spotted any.
The rescue missions feel like the most tedious thing. I'll see if they get better

I don't remember the rescue missions tbh. You'll never do all missions I don't think cos I think some of the captain Vs captain ones will just keep cropping up randomly.

In an effort to not start up anything major before Red Dead, I've been cleaning up my download list on the PS4.
Finished Knack 1. A very mediocre game that grew on me as I kept playing. The story is terrible and I don't know that Cerny should be allowed to write anything but code for games. The game play is thin and repetitive but oddly satisfying. Seeing Knack grow bigger and stronger over the course of a level is thrilling and the last level where he becomes enormous with as great.
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they're just looking for an unoffensive time waster.
Almost through The Order 1866. Again a mediocre game. Visually and in terms of presentation the game is amazing, I wish all games looked this good or better. But in terms of gameplay this is horrendous. The gunplay itself is okay, very run of the mill but the walking is sooo slow. Like half the game is Gears of War walking with your finger in the ear talking speed.
Nothing in this game feels fast or agile, except the ridiculous quick time events that I fail over and over again because millisecond precision inside a time window is just so much fun.
The story is promising but there's a lot of bad writing in there and not enough introduction for me to really care about the world or the characters.
Will probably finish it tonight.
Also been playing Minit. It's a sort of Zelda Link's Awakening type top down pixel game. You're tasked with various objectives or puzzles that lead you to new places or give you new abilities.
The hook is that you have one minute per life before you're returned to your starting position. So there's a lot of trial and error and quick runs in any different direction to see what you can do next. Very fun.
Also played a bit more Horizon Zero Dawn. Picked off some more side quests. I think I'll work on finally finishing the main story when I'm done with the order.

Yeah, there are always new random Uruks being promoted to 1st tier Captains, no matter how hard I rampage (and yesterday I went on assassination spree, killing 6 in a single stronghold (including a 1 v 3 pile-up at one point)
Then I killed another Warchief, who was joined in the fight by 2 archer captains- and one of them had Poison and almost killed me! I had to do the "last chance" QTE three times to escape death so that I could finish murdering him. Once I did that, both the other archer and the Warchief (a shield and poisoned spear Defender) were a piece of cake- fleeing Uruks everywhere.
The Rescue missions are the ones where you sneak about freeing slaves. There's like 24 of those according to the tracker. I did 8 so far, and have unlocked another 3. They feel like busy work, since I'm not sure if they have any impact on the story.

Man you guys are making me want to play Shadow of Mordor again. The Nemesis system was so much fun, and it baffles me that no other developer has tried to replicate it (though apparently there is something along those lines in Assassin's Creed Odyssey).

Nope, there always has to be someone in the hierarchy, apparently. And now that Talion is mowing down captains like a John Deere tractor, I there's all kinds of random unknowns clawing their way up. I
At this point the only thing that can really kill me are a pack of Caragor, so I can see why the game's doing this.

Finished The Order. Disappointing and hollow ending to the game. That manuscript needed a lot of work.
Playing some story missions in Horizon now. I'm just about through "The mountain that fell". Man, that faro dude is just the asshole that keeps giving. What an utter fuckwit.

I know. I still kinda felt bad for him, just the immense amount of guilt he must have been carrying, which then probably causes him to act the way he does. Really just a well-written story

I just dont understand why the Horizon Project kept Faro around. Even if they kept the cause of the worlds end secret- surely somebody at some point, a soldier or a scientist, would have shanked that fucker for what he'd done.

I agree. Someones personal anger would have got that guy killed.
They kept him around for his money, but the government could have just confiscated it. They don't seem to have kept him around for any of his personal brilliance. Still as the CEO of the company that built the swarm I guess he had necessary insights.

Well, Ratbag is chief now. I really don't think I did these story missions in good order, which would explain why Talion is so OP now.
I'm not unkillable yet though- picking a fight with a Graug, even one at only half-health was a BAD idea.
Also, I really like watching the orc ambushes/duels. The AI is so terrible when it comes to targeting other Orcs.
I think the next main mission should open up the 2nd map.
Edit: 32 hours in, opened up Nurn. Did the first story mission there and then just ran around re-forging the towers and highlighting all the collectibles and side-missions. 55% complete at this point.
The 1st Captain was disappointingly easy to kill, so I continue to feel over-powered. I can only hope that once I unlock the Brand power and can start manipulating the Nemesis system things will get more interesting.

Nice, I'm also playing Bravely Default on 3DS, Chronicles lined up for later. If I play more than one game at at time, I try to vary the genre. So I also just finished Spider-Man, and now that I have a Switch, finally Breath of the Wild.
It is amazing how hard it is for my brain to switch back from A/B to O/X. Maybe I will remap these if I can so that they match. Same thing happens in action RPGs; whoops, dodge is actually crouch now! Oh well.
We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.
