I tried adding Adjutant Stormy but there was no user with that name (although 'Adjutant' and 'Stormy' by themselves both did). I'm Sir Thursday (as one might expect) if you wanted to do it the other way round.

Heroes of Might and Magic 6 (No UbiSoft, I'm not going to reorder the words!)
I haven't really been sucked in to the last couple, but this one seems to have ramped the 'addictive' factor right back up. Really enjoying the Campaign, especially since each of the five campaigns seems to offer about ten hours. Or at least, they do if you insist on absolutely clearing every map like I do!

Heroes VI. Finished Anastasya's Necropolis campaign, dunno if I should do the epilogue campaign now... so far I've started Irina's Sanctuary campaign.
So far the game is great, but unbalanced as fuck. Tears rep trumps Blood so hard it's not even funny. What's a fucking lightning bolt when I have a hundred Champion creatures? Bah. And even for low-count situations - not even going into the preservation of forces through regeneration and stone skin, summoning spells are just insane. In that regard, the game is very unbalanced.
Other than the path of blood / path of tears, some creatures seem to be strong as hell, while others severely underpowered. For Necropolis, the Lich/Archlich with a magic hero are just... gods. It's not until I've about 100+ Fate Weavers that the champion creatures starts doing more damage. Lamasus are nice tanks, but they pale in comparison. It might be different with a Might hero, but Vampires and Lamasus seriously lack offensive power.
For Sanctuary, Kappas - and Kappa Shoyas even more - are so, so strong with their INSANE Leap. Spring Spirits are only good for buffing your other creatures that are actually useful (like Kappa Shoyas, Kensei or Kirins) with 15% damage reduction - they literally can't kill anything with their attack (and that's with a Magic hero, too). They will actually do more damage with their damage shield - if the AI would even want to attack them. Snow Maidens are weak as hell too, compared to Core Pearl Priestesses they're completely redundant. Wanizame's only good for soaking some retaliations and slowing enemy stacks down (-3 movement per hit is really good in that aspect). Kenshis are Kenshis, they're the heart and soul of your army, at least until you get Kirins.
Then there's faction imbalance. Honor as a faction ability is rather... lacking, compared to Necromancy. Extra defense and hp and some damage shield is all nice, but it scales pretty terribly.
As for the campaigns, the Necropolis campaign was plenty fun and had some nice (if not entirely not-obvious) twists. The flow of gameplay was pretty good too. It has to be said that the AI gets some extra troops whenever it gets beaten again, but without that each scenario would be just over after the first fight you have. Also expect special encounters to always have troops scaled to your army size to guarantee some challenge even if you roll in with a 150+ Champion army. It was a nice touch to have the Magister set continuously drop throughout the scenarios. And oh gods, you'll be starving for resources in the last map.
The Sanctuary campaign is entertaining enough, though seems unfinished in some places - like in the second map, there's a placeholder for a fort with a control area, and you even have a secondary objective to take it - but it's just a placeholder and you can't take it. You'll also experience the full meaning of sieges sucking as Sanctuary (GIVE ME EVEN A SINGLE FLYER, FFS!).
All in all, it's a great game so far, even with some faults I mentioned (it's not like previous Heroes games weren't unbalanced as fuck). I like the new mechanics and they make each playthrough feel a lot more unique and fresh than before.

I'll agree with all that Gothos. While Anastasya's campaign is hardly literary genius it's certainly 'good' and has been a success for me in that I'm very interested to see the other sibling's campaign stories now.
Funnily enough I chose the blood path for her, mainly for the life drain spells and a couple of others. I'll be going tears for the other campaigns though because I'm too lazy to choose 'pursue' every time a small force tries to flee!
In terms of sheer playability, I currently think it's the best of the modern era. HOMM V particularly just felt... clunky.

Well, HoMM V was pretty much a reinvented III. This time they dared to go pretty far, and IMO it pays off. Because, honestly, if I want to play III, I'll go play III.
As for pursues, lazy being lazy, but if that'small force' is 600+ pearl priestesses it gets into the "more fucking losses, grrr" territory

I was thinking of getting my brother demon souls, the 'prequel' of dark souls. After reading some reviews and also the thread on the new Dark Souls sequel I thought it might be a good christmas gift. However I have no idea about it as its a PS3 game and im worried about the difficulty of it. He enjoyed Dragon Age and Oblivion but by all accounts he is a casual RPG player. Will this be too hard for him? Id rather buy the prequel as I dont want to get him the newer one as its three times the cost, especially if he never plays it.

Demon's Souls is pretty cheap nowadays, and if he's used to modern "RPGs" that follow the design philosophy of massaging the player's ego for 30 hours and never making him feel bad about himself, his reactions alone will merit vast entertainment. Please video.

Fired up disciples III because I also bought resurrection. Seeing how FM 2012 is released on friday, I don't think I'll get past quest 5 in the Imperial campaign, though.

Safrer yes but much more expensive and Im fairly certain hell already be getting it. Also I try to push him into buying games he wouldnt normally buy to broadern his horizons. I used to like and know alot about games but now im so far behind the curve I have to rely on you good people.
Ive just completed Res Evil 4 on the GC. Very good game as I wasnt a fan of the original RE format of no ammo for most of the game. A very good game I enjoyed thoroughly. Atm im trying to get into Bulletstorm but its not really grabbing me.

Bullet Storm is great! just great. I admit it has its off moments and the story is pretty shallow but in all honesty its epic in every sense of the word "Gunslinger". stick with it till you get the remote. remote to what you ask? wait and see. wait and see...

I only put it on for half an hour the other night. It was just 'walk foward pres x cutscene walk forward kill a few longer cutscene'. I will give this a chance though later on tonight though im tempted to get this dark souls game everyone seems to be playing

Yes, you don't get any of that with Dark Souls - it's all game. All open world too, with no loading screens between areas; the only let-up is when you get killed.

Skyrim will ofc be getting a purchase, though I found Oblivion much too easy to manipulate. Dark Souls sounds like its for the harder gamer so I shall play that at some point though I wish I had a PS3 to play Demon Souls to check if I like it. Im not a fan of 40 pound gambles on a game. Should probably get more games for my GC first. I bought Hitman 2 which Ive done before then found this online
