Well you can play Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 3 on Iphone now. there are a few other Decent rated RPG's on the IOS but I don't have a new enough device to handle the 3D rendered games <_<
otherwise you can jump on IGN or other game sites and search for highly rated games on iOS devices, that might suit your criteria. :D



Edit: About FF3 I'm not actually sure if its released or not.


I got FF on the X box, last years release and I wasn't impressed to be honest. I didn't find it enjoyable and mostly it was video's or animation than game play. I got bored quickly and didn't go back to it at any stage, in fact I think I re sold it back to the shop.

Witcher 2 was... good. Disappointing, but good. Are there games like this for the X box, or for a DS or I phone? I recently got Crystal Defenders which was okay and i've played Etrian's Oddysee (sorry if that's spelled wrong) which was fantastic. I enjoy playing them and continue to play them on a daily basis. I was just wondering if games like this, which receive massive rep from you guys, can be played on anything else other than PC or Laptop.


The DS has a pretty good selection. The Dark Spire is pretty much a Wizardry game without the name, very hardcore and very fun. Etrian Odyssey 3 is the best of the bunch if you haven't played it, I'd say its character customisation and specialisation might even beat Wizardry's. To round it off, there's Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, which is another traditional dungeon crawler in the Wizardry vein (the series is pretty much Japan's answer to it) and has some great design.

So they are all on the DS? I'll look into that. Especially Etrian's Oddysey, I bought number 2 when I was in Hong Kong. Good memories.

@Hetan as a rule of thumb you shouldn't ccompare FF13 with any other in the FF series. As a long time fan ff13 did not ring true to the franchise, granted Final Fantasy is not every ones cup of tea.

witcher 2 i haven't finished since i found out my save game from no1 can affect the convo's in 2, i'm having to restart 1 again as i deleted it before i installed no2 Posted Image

None, because my wrist huuuuuuuuuurts!!! And god dammit I want to play! Portal 2 is just sitting there, accusing me with its eyes...and Gears of War 3 is coming out soon, and I have to play through Mass Effect at least 2 more times, as well as Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Origins...fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Finished The Saboteur yesterday. That game really grows on you. For those people who always wanted to play an Assassins Creed game set during WW2 (mixed with a healthy dose of Just Cause 2) I can not recommend this game enough. It's not a very polished product but it's fun and the missions are actually interesting.

Now I am playing Heavy Rain. This game is fucking weird. Not sure if I mean that in a good way or a bad way yet. But it certainly is interesting.

Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Yeah, me too... I started this a week ago, but haven't got too far yet.

Weird is right. I can see myself fucking up some important stuff down the line with that control system. For some reason the rapid 'up-down' move on my controller only responds if I do it hard enough to bang nails in with - a bit extreme when you're just being asked to brush your teeth or something.

Also, this game is not going to cheer anyone up.

@BK - Is Darksiders worth a look?

This game is my favorite in the series. Not sure why. Shogun did things better overall, but Rome has that atmosphere that just can't be beat. Played the hell out of it until I discovered Mount and Blade (and the mods).

Currently playing FFV on an SNES emulator. Didn't like it at first, but it has since grown on me. I love how certain skills can carry over to another class later on. Though I'm not sure if the skill from the previous job will increase along with those that came with the job reassignment.

As soon as I understood that the difficulty of the game lies in the execution of the button presses and controller movement I turned it down low. I don't really care about the challenge in this game, I just want to experience and find out about where the story goes.

And yes this game is depressing. There is something about bad things happening and being able to read the characters thoughts that make the events heartbreaking.

If you'd like a mix of God of War and Zelda set in a cartoon version of the Christan Apocalypse, then yes. It seems a bit empty in the start but it has a lot of interesting ideas in it as it progresses.

I got Crysis 2 las night, after finally playing the first game and expansion and liking them. Crysis 2 is only £15 on D2D at the moment.

Anyway, lovely presentation and the first hour of gameplay was very promising.

I think you're exactly right in pointing to atmosphere as a big part of Rome's success, and the later games are what they are because of Rome. Also, the leap between Medieval I and Rome was just phenomenal.

Must say I still hold great respect and love for Medieval I. I think it's by far my most played Total War game. Even more than Rome (though probably not by much!). Medieval II, Empire and Shogun 2 just don't cut it anymore, and I dunno why... maybe the lack of progress of AI and diplomacy.

As much as i thought i'd play Heavy Rain multiple times to see what different endings i'd get i didn't. The once hit me so much that if i'd played it again i just wouldn't have felt the same emotion that i had the 1st time.

I very much enjoyed it (If you can actually enjoy a game with a story that depressing).

I bought Crysis 2 along with a bunch of other EA stuff back in the spring when everything was 50% off.

I played it a bit, liked it, and then put it away because I didn't think my laptop does it justice. I've put it in the to play pile of PC games that I wont return to before I invest in a new gaming desktop.

On a sidenote, how is Direct 2 Drive now a days. When I used it a couple of years ago I liked their pricing but I thought their download programme was horendous. Especially considering how slick the Steam experience is.
