KING'S LANDING

Poor Ned looked like hell.
Robert backhanding Cercei... Bad. Move. But damn Lena headley can act.

Rob's exchange with Renly in the woods was also interesting... they're giving renly way more development here than i remember from the books, likely leading to him being more of a factor of the W5K when it hits.

Nice to see Ned sending Beric off, since we know that should become important later. I could be wrong, but there was something malevolent about Littlefinger


THE EYRIE

Tyrion, Tyrion, Tyrion... the man positively CHEWS SCENERY every time he's on screen. Honestly i think John Noble over in FRINGE is about the only tv actor i currently find more interesting to watch. His confession was priceless and the challenge, right down to Bronn stepping up, was perfect. I particularly enjoyed the duel... it was awkward and viscious and violent in a totally believable way. Very little fancy stepping and a lot of ducking and dirty hits. "No, but he did..." HA!


WINTERFELL

I do like how Theon's conflict with Robb and the Starks in general is being developped. The scene with Robb ready to surrender and Theon stepping in was nicely done.


DOTHRAKIVILLE

Honestly, how perfect were these scenes?
From Dany playing with her eggs while slave chick burns her hands, to the heart-eating ceremony, Mormont's confrontation with Viserys and oh, the golden crown. And Dany's experssion while that was going on. Oh yeah, she is NAILING that role.

I loved the clunk sound of Viserys' head hitting the ground. That and the fact that he actually calls his sister "Dany" as he's pleading for his life. Awesome dialog and delivery.

I really enjoyed the Bronn v Sir Shortly to be Bleeding Heavily duel.

Right at the start we had Bronn being offered a shield and giving the servant a 'are you fucking kidding me piss off you little shit' look.

Then the fight. Bronn did a lot of ducking and dodging and relatively little hitting, up until it looked like Sir Deadmeat was exhausted, and then it was clear he played him just right. Even the sound of Bronn's hits were awesome, like a combination of metal and wet things tearing.

And of course, the coup de grace right between the helmet and armour, followed by Sir Wormfood leaving via the Moon Door.

All in all the best sword fight in the series so far.

I think the added tension of the Ned VS Jaime fight is what makes it so great, whereas Bronn VS Egan is action-istically more cooler.

Yeah that's true. Ned vs. Jaime had the blood pumping music and was a showdown between two main characters. Bronn vs. Vardis had more interesting choreography.

I think this has already been extensively covered, but haven't seen much about it regarding ep 6 specifically: anyone else just have enormous respect for Harry Lloyd? I find that he did such a good job with Viserys in this episode that I pity him and find his death more meaningful than I ever did in the books. The addition of the scene in the episode where he tries to steal the eggs and Mormont stops him was especially great, I thought. "I have had the burden of the greatest dynasty this world has ever seen on my shoulders since I was 5."

Viserys is a crazy fuck, there's no question that he needed to go, and the dominant emotional response his death elicits in me will always be some kind of relief and twisted elation. But man, he's also just pitiful as fuck, and I think Lloyd brings that out so much more on screen than Martin brought it out in the book.

the on-screen version was certainly more pitiful, a combination, i think, of the actors visual presentation of the character as a foppish ninny, and of the character in the book simply being more menacing in the absence of such a pitiful visual representation.

There's a central flaw to Viserys, in that his whole plotline runs 'i marry my sister to this barbarian, who will then pack up his 40k horse warriors, cross a frikkin sea, and invade my former kingdon for me'.

It's an immensely naive and boderline silly master plan, the moreso because if Drogo actually wanted to do that, he didn't really need a Tarygaryen to make it happen. Arguably a Tary' figurehead gives such an invasion validity and Robert comented in ep 5 on why it would probably work while the Lords are all hiding in their castles, but even so.... 'Ok, you've shagged my sister, let's invade!' is pretty thin reasoning. It only works if you don't think about it or pass it off to Viserys' ego.

Okay, at risk of becoming like Tyr, I really liked Bronnn in this one. The way we get a shot of him when Tyrion tells he needs other to do violence, his shrug when he accepts to be his champion, his answer to Lysa:"No. But he did."

Tyrion of course was great as always. Since I saw how well Dinklage had nailed this role I wanted to see the confession, which was one of my favourite parts in the book. He delivered, as always.

The guy who did Viserys was actually on par with Dinklage in this one, IMO. And I agree that he comes a s a more pitiable figure than in the books. Pitiable in the sense you pity such an idiot.

Theon was solid also ("It's not my house") and the secne when Eddard basically begins a war with House Lannister had the appropriate gravity.

Oh, and Sansa is such an idiot.

AS someone said already, it was just like Chunk in GOONIES. I flat out LOVED his delivery.
